I was born and raised in California and now live in rural Colorado on a small ranch with my husband, 7 of my 10 kids, a dog, cats, a spoiled horse, and a herd of goats.
I am the author of a children's picture book, "Grasshopper Pie" (WindRiver 2003), and three novels, "Heaven Scent" (Cedar Fort 2008), "Altared Plans" (Cedar Fort 2009), and "The Upside of Down" (Cedar Fort 2011)and numerous children's magazine stories and articles. I am also a blogger.
Besides writing and reading, I love to date my husband, play with my kids, swim in the ocean, and dance to disco music while I clean the house. Someday, I hope to tame the wild laundry monster.
I really enjoyed this story of Mitch, the soon to be appointed CEO of World of Toys, who loves everything Christmas and Chloe, the advertising executive he hires who hates anything Christmas. Everything bad in her life has happened at Christmas time so she would just like to skip the season. There's undeniable chemistry between the main couple and the secondary characters are great as well, especially her best friend and his meddling sister! Ms. Talley wrote a very sweet novella that takes the reader through Chloe's evolution as Mitch shows her the true spirit and magic of Christmas!
Chloe despises Christmas, because everything bad always happen at Christmas. Then Mitch comes along and she has no clue how to do his advertising, take care of her sick cat, and be professional. They work together super well, too well. I love what Mitch comes up with! What a sweetheart! I adore the idea of a Christmas Eve PJ Party with kiddos that don’t have anything! Awesome!!!
An engaging Christmas novella. It has interesting and likable characters. I enjoyed the sparky and fun conversations. This was a very fun and easy read, gave me a warm and welcome to Christmas feeling. I received this book as a gift however I would recommend buying it for a few hours enjoyable reading. I voluntarily give this review
Loved the protagonists in the story. It was touching to watch Chloe's understanding of Christmas evolve past her personal pain. Also enjoyed Henry & LeAnne as secondary characters. Wasn't quite sure what to make of her neighbor Jimmy. The story felt a little unfinished at the end, but it was at least happy.
Another really good story, with a good theme and well defined characters. Certainly there's a romance but there are also other kinds of love explored, as well as facing and growing beyond a bitter past.
She doesn’t like Christmas only bad things happen then. She avoids it at all costs. She’s a workaholic but loves Henry her cat. He is all about Christmas his family owns a large toy company. Good characters and plot.
A fantastic Christmas novella. I like the story and the characters. The story is funny and very enjoying. I recommend this book to all what want to spent a cozy evening.
4.5 stars, really. Overall this was a great little novella. A problem I find with LDS fiction is that it can drag on, but I didn't have that problem with this story. It was very sweet and enjoyable, and it didn't just follow the typical boy-meets-girl formula most books of this genre seem to follow where the couple tend to throw themselves at each other. I'm on the fence about whether or not it needed an epilogue of sorts to find out what happened to the ad campaign, the family and Henry the cat, but overall an enjoyable read.
An adorable Christmas novella with endearing characters and an engaging plot. Even though it's set at Christmas-time, it's a story that can be enjoyed all year long.
