What a thoroughly entertaining read!!! I haven't laughed this much in along time!!! This book was awesome had fabulous one liners and the characters had a awesome chemistry and the humor and snark was priceless as well !! And the steam was hot, hot!!! Also the sexual banter between Logan and silver was fabulous!! A sexy Irish gypsy vampire and a smart talking bad ass independent London girl meet after girl kicks date in the nuts and throws a drink on the skank who he was caught cheating with. I loved This hot modern vampire romance it had great characters and a awesome storyline with great secondary characters like the ancient and big boss and overlord Ronin who sounds sexy as hell and is dangerous as they come. Then theirs old movie starlet and silver's landlord and friend Etta who's funny as shit!!! Loved this old lady!!! And the sinister totally demented bitch vampiress Anastasia who wants nothing more then to bring Logan to his knee's!! Can't wait to read the next two books in this series!!! The problems with dating a vampire!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🥵🥵🥵
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 🧛🏻🧛🏻‍♂️🧛🏻‍♀️🧛🏻🧛🏻‍♂️

The heroine: Silver - her Mom disappeared a few years ago which affected her greatly. Silver is not interested in long term relationships and lives for now. She is in her early twenties and works in a jewelry store which she hates.

The Hero(es): Logan - a vampire created hundreds of years ago by an ancient vampire named Anastasia who recruited murderers and thieves that would be blood bonded to her so she could use them as servants. Years ago another ancient helped Logan break the blood bond to Anastasia, and now he is bonded that vampire. Logan now works for him.

The Story: Silver finds her date kissing another girl on New Year’s eve and gets kicked out of the party for kicking him in the family jewels. She then meets Logan, a handsome vampire who gives her a kiss like she never experienced before, then disappearing into the night.

Silver decides to check out an online dating service called V date where she can get hooked up with any number of handsome vampires. Logan is asked by his boss to check out V date, which is apparently a site that the police are using to get information on the vampire race. He is tasked with finding the latest V date user that the police plan on using as an informant. He is supposed to glamour her and make her believe she never wants to date another vampire.

Logan finds out the girl he is supposed to glamour is Silver, the same girl he kissed on New Year’s eve and can’t seem to forget. He doesn’t want to glamour her because he wants to date her. Though not doing what his boss told him to do is a betrayal and that could be punishable by death.

I liked the new take on vampire lore and the story. I love paranormal stories that take place in the normal world and when one of the main characters is a regular person who gets caught up in the supernatural world. The dual POV and male/female narration were great. Logan had an Irish accent while Silver had an English one. It was a nice change of pace.

New Year's Eve is not going according to plan for Silver Harris when she catches her date kissing someone else. One drink in the face and kick in the nuts later Silver is being escorted out where she meets the incredibly handsome and irresistible Logan Byrne vampire, one kiss from Logan and Silver knows he's ruined her and human men are just not going to cut it anymore.
Assuming she'll never see him again Silver joins V-Date.com a dating site for vampires but she soon discovers what she felt with Logan was less to do with the fact that he's a vampire and more to do with the man himself.
Logan returns and things pick up where they left off but the path of true love never runs smooth especially when one half of the relationship is 190 years old and has a vengeful ex-sire on his tail.
This is an enjoyable read both Logan and Silver are good characters with some funny dialogue between them and I really wanted things to work out.
Also I liked that the ancients are different, demon like and next to impossible to destroy and certainly not the same as those they create.
So what didn't work for me?
I felt at times it dragged now this could be because I didn't particularly feel the police part worked that well and the only real reason I can think it's there is to introduce Vincent ready for his book 'Romancing the Undead' which is next.
Also the epilogue, I'm a huge fan of epilogues but it ended quite abruptly, I know, I know when is a good time to end but I would have liked a bit more.
So all things considered this is a good entertaining read and while we know how it's going to end the fact that we know doesn't distract from the story itself.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca.

5☆  Dating with Bite

When I see the cover for Dating the Undead I loved it... the blurb was exciting.
It didn't disappoint!

The whole concept for a vampire dating site where humans and Vamps can meet & mix is fantastic... it's fresh, and so different from the "normal" dark vampire books.

V-Date is the name of the Vampire dating service.
However it does attract attention from all kinds of people... including those with influencing power! As to why they have an interest.... well all will be revealed!

So when Silver joins up to meet her Vamp, she never believes she will meet Logan again.
He's sexy, hot and intriguing!
Both feel a connection instantly..... was it by chance Logan is to meet Silver again or just fate??

Dating the Undead kept me hooked the whole way through.
There is so much packed into the first book it's exciting, plenty of twists to keep the reader enthralled.
Lots of chance encounters, plenty of risks, an undercover plot, sizzling passion and sexy vamps.... what more could you need!

I loved Silver, she has a lot of determination and isn't scared easily. Her fear of nothing often got her into plenty of mishaps which was great!
She was the perfect female lead. Her character had me laughing out loud many times throughout the book, with her no filter, Witty attitude.

Logan was everything you want from a sexy vamp. He was mysterious, but had a kind heart, he oozes masculinity, yet he was charming, and the spark between Silver and Logan was sizzling.
Plenty of steamy sex scenes to get your pulses racing!

Can't wait for book 2. I have a strong feeling this series is going to be a big hit!

Would I recommend this book...... 100% YES!!!

A fresh and exciting new Vamp book. I love reading new vampire books with a difference.
This one is no exception it has it all a mix of fresh new Vamp action and the charms of the old school vamp ie, glamourising humans to forget!

I Recommend to readers who love Vampire books, fantasy, Paranormal Romances, Stong lead characters.

I received this book from the Publisher in exchange for a honest and fair review via Netgalley.

Audiobook review. Cute story. While I don't expect vampire stories to have much believability, I did have some eye-rolling moments as I listened. Silver is, like many folks, trying to find love. She is quite fluid in her approach and goes with the flow, which can be good at times and others not so much. I liked Logan because he stuck to his principles despite strong opposition. In that way, they are almost opposites.

The love scenes were ok. The writing, pacing, and transitions good. I would have liked a little more development with Silver but there was some noted growth. There was an opportunity missed in the plot details. I was left confused by what was supposed to be the climax of the story. We are expected to just accept that something occurs but are not given the setup of what makes it possible.

The narrators had good tone, pitch, pace. The accents were ok, but you can tell the hero's is not natural.

Safety: h continues to "date" other vampires while with the H. No physical contact occurs with them and there is a purported reason but I personally wasn't a big fan of this. No rape. Yes to abuse.

Who knew that the New Year’s Eve from Hell would broaden Silver’s dating horizons beyond the norm and into the world of V-Date, the online dating service that pairs humans and vampires? Leave it to London to be on the cutting edge of romance and leave it to Silver to fall for a vampire with more kindness and humanity in his left fang than the humans she has known.

Like the Princess who had to kiss a few frogs before finding her Prince, Silver is determined to find the vampire of her dating dreams. Unlike the princess, Silver isn’t the epitome of grace and gentility, but she is a laugh a minute, as the cyclone that is her brain takes us on a journey into her mind, heart and attitude.

Logan’s kiss is magical, his charm and kindness is swoon-worthy and once you try vampire, you can’t go back, right? Then again, Silver isn’t one to do things by half and soon she is in over her head and in a race for her life, her heart and her blood with Logan by her side, as they are hunted by demons intent on making Logan pay for his past.

…And to think, it all started with Silver’s temper, an alcoholic shower, a swift kick to the family jewels and a chance meeting with a vampire…talk about ringing in the New Year with a bang! Who knew she may have found the love of her life?

DATING THE UNDEAD by Juliet Lyons had me laughing out loud with the antics of Silver! I had times when I wondered if she had a death wish she didn’t know about! She is brash, gutsy and pretty much clueless to the real dangers of playing with sharp objects. She would have surely perished without Logan lurking in the background. Humor, angst, attitude, romance and heat, it’s all in here!

I received an ARC edition from Sourcebooks in exchange for my honest review.

Three and a half
Ok I spotted this and had all manner of expectations. Some were fulfilled and others not. I really liked the idea of a modern , independent woman living in London and certainly Silver is an intersting up for anything character. The idea of a dating site introducing vampires to humans in this post revelation era also ticked my boxes as I loved the idea that someone normally considered irresistible would need help looking for partners. Yes the author certainly knows how to engage her readers interest. Now add in green eyed Irish vampire Logan, with a murky history and the stage is set for a romance that's steamy, funny and unfortunately about to get very tangled up indeed !
Without giving too much away Silver is helping the authorities discover as much as they can about the now out of their closet vampires and this really didn't work for me . Unfortunately I couldn't quite understand why Silver got the gig as I would normally expect the police to use their own undercover operatives. That oddity aside it was fun seeing Silver and Logan tangle with each other and I have to admit their romance was written in a refreshing and contemporary manner which really suited the two characters. Silver isn't someone who is backwards in coming forwards and pairing her with dirty minded Logan worked . Less you think it's just sexy shenanigans I have to point out that the author found a way to show that Logan came from a different era and his idea to woo Silver was very sweet.
So I've covered the basic romance but it's more than that as we are given a whole new idea about vampires and their society. Unfortunately this didn't feel as realistic as I wanted and I really felt the plot should have matched the time this couple spent exploring each other. We do meet characters who I'm sure the author will revisit but I just wanted more action . That being said it's the first book in the series so it's hard to fully flesh out a different way for vampires to exist without giving a long history so I hope the next book will add to the world building and hopeful have a really engaging story.
This voluntary review is of a copy I sought from Netgalley and is my honest opinion

4 "Ulterior Motives or True Love?" Stars for the story and 4.5 Stars for the narration.

Lovers of humorous vampire romances (for example, Molly Harper fans) will be the most intrigued by Dating the Undead. I must admit that in my case it was the cover art that drew me in and the blurb further convinced me to give this story a listen. In the end, I'm glad I did as it was a fun romance that fit in perfectly as a breath of fresh air in between my more typical serious romantic listens (as I'm a big fan of romantic suspense and UF romances). Additionally, the adept narration by dual narrators Justine Eyre and Alan Smyth makes this a great title to experience in audiobook format.

Dating the Undead is set in London in a present day alternate world were vampires are real and out of the closet. Logan Byrne, the hero, is an Irish vampire that was turned two hundred years ago when he contracted Colera. Silver Harris, the heroine, meets Logan at a New Year's party and they feel an instant attraction which is further energized by a memorable bite. Silver, however, being the ultra careful modern woman, has Logan drop her off at a random address, so he is unable to find her, even though they both come to regret that decision.

Fortunately they are both tasked on opposite missions related to a brand new online dating site that connects vampires and humans as potential love matches, called V-Date. Silver's mission is to spy on the vampires and learn as much intel as possible on their habits and traits. Logan, on the other hand, is asked to glamor the human dates so that they think they had a great time and have nothing but great things to say about V-Date even if they will no longer feel the need to date vampires. But when Logan spots that his first glamor prospect is Silver, his heart is conflicted. He knows if he doesn't obey the powerful vampire that gave him this mission that it could prove disastrous for him. On the other hand, he already knows that his heart couldn't bear it if he turned Silver away from a possible future with him.

The dual narration by Justine Eyre and Alan Smyth works well to highlight the point of view being shared in the particular chapter. Ms. Eyre narrates the chapters from Silver's perspective and Mr. Smyth the ones from Logan's POV.

I have previously listened to Ms. Eyre so I knew she would do great with the comical lines. As expected, she exceled on this front. Ms. Eyre also did a good job of varying her pitch to produce believable gender appropriate characters and even managed to create good accents for the characters, including Logan who is Irish.

This was my first experience with Mr. Smyth and I really enjoyed it. Mr. Smyth has a pleasing voice and he also did well with delivering the tongue-in-cheek humor. Mr. Smyth also had a great Irish accent which made his performance of Logan's parts sound very natural.

All in all, I enjoyed Dating the Undead though I must admit that there was a lot going on in the story plotwise, some of which didn't neatly tie together in my head. For example, in today's modern age of technology with cell phones why would dropping off someone at the wrong address alone lead you to not being able to find them? And then there's the fact that a vampire like Logan who can tell if you're lying should have known of this deception and sought an alternate means to contact Silver in the future. These types of things notwithstanding, I did enjoy the fun, passionate and humorous interactions between Silver and Logan. So in the end if you're just looking for a light, fun listen, and you enjoy vampire, humorous PNR titles, then Dating the Undead may just be the book you're looking for.

Full review at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

Dating the Undead had a premise I was excited about: a dating website for vampires. That sounds pretty cool, right? And I’m always trying to find romances that do something new with the paranormal romance genre. However, as fun as watching ancient beings attempt to use modern technology to date sounds, that’s not what I got. What I got was disappointment and a bad case of agita.

I was really excited about the prospect of modern dating. The heroine isn’t a virgin. She’s brash and open with her dating and sexual experience. That’s something I want more of in my romances, but part of Silver’s sexually liberated portrayal quickly soured. It seemed that every other woman in the book wasn’t allowed to be as confident, lest they be labeled negatively. Background women hoping to get freaky with a vamp at bars were seen as desperate and “throwing themselves” at the men.

In fact, all of the other women, save for Silver’s neighbor, are viewed negatively by the heroine. The woman who kisses her date on NYE is called a “Euro trash skank.” Silver’s boss is a “bitch.” Silver hates her best friend’s girlfriend because she’s uptight. Logan’s previous sexual partner is a woman named Colette and he swears to Silver that he never even liked her, and she’s seen as possessive and jealous. The only female vampire in the entire book is the villain, who is just straight up evil. There aren’t any mentions, so far, of women vamps on V-Date either.

I have a pretty low tolerance for romances where the heroine is the only “good” woman in the entire story. I think women in general should try to surround themselves with other women. I have a monthly standing dinner date with all of my girlfriends and I always leave them feeling stunned by my friends’ ability to kick major ass at work and life in general. To me, there’s no excuse for the “not like other girls” trope because women are varied and so incredibly different. There’s nothing wrong with “other girls” and if a woman has that much dislike for other women, it’s hard to sympathize with her, especially as the leading lady in a romance novel.

Also, Silver seems experienced regarding modern dating, so to see her freaking out after Logan cancels an upcoming date felt out of character. They’d gone out before, had a good time, and have had some hot sex by that point. Relax. For someone used to having unattached and sometimes casual experiences, this reaction felt out of place in terms of her prior characterization.

Logan also describes himself as an “Irish gypsy” when talking about his pre-vamp life. Now, I’m not knowledgeable enough here to debate the term and the history of its usage. I do know that it’s often used as a derogatory slur for the Romani people. It’s mainly used, in this instance, as a way for the hero to self-identify, but I’m not totally comfortable with the term and I wanted to let readers know it’s in there.

This book is one of those reads where I thought I was getting one thing and it turned out to be completely different. Sometimes, that can be a nice surprise. But in this case, it was a major letdown, especially in terms of slut shaming and inconsistent characterization.

"Get back here, vampire. I felt you up; now you feel me up. That's how it works in the twenty-first century. This isn't Jane Austen. I'm not bloody Elizabeth Bennet."

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can look at the concept for this book and not want to read it. Obviously a fun concept or pitch doesn't always guarantee that your expectations will live up to the premise but in the case of DATING THE UNDEAD, it did. And in such unexpected ways.

"Silver has a date with a vampire."
"Well, I'd say knock 'em dead, kiddo, but in this case he's dead already."

When you throw the words BRIDGET JONES around you kind of anticipate the story going one way. And this definitely didn't. But it was actually better. Lyons has created a seriously sassy and snarky delight in our MC Silver without half the hangups that Bridget Jones had. And definitely created the perfect, undead, match for her with Logan. He's basically what Angel, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, might've been like if Whedon had made him less of a tortured emo child and more.. pervy.

"A man would have to be dead from the feet up not to find your attractive, Silver."
"Like you, you mean?"
"You're never going to quit the dead jibes are you?"
"Probably not."

I don't want to reveal too much because half the fun is watching how it all shakes out but take everything you know about vampires and forget it. We have a fresh take on the blood sucking and occasionally sparkly mythology. Throw in a girl with no interest in love who ends up on V-Date -- a vampire hook up site -- after a New Years Eve encounter with a hot Irish fanger, a mystery surrounding a missing mother, some seriously sexy escapades, total hilarity, and a pile of TWILIGHT jokes (well, okay, like two, but they were good ones!), and you get DATING THE UNDEAD.

"It's funny. I never had you pegged for the needy type."
"Needy? I think I prefer brooding and deep."
"There's nothing brooding and deep about this conversation, Mr. Needy. It's got insecurity written all over it. It's a good thing you're a decent shag or I might jump ship."

I'm so glad this is going to be a series of interconnected books because while I love that this story wrapped up without a cliffhanger, I want more of this world. And Lyons has perfectly set us up for another immortal hunk to take the stage.

'Dating The Undead' by Juliet Lyons 'Dating The Undead' by Juliet Lyons is book One in the "V-Date.Com" series. This is the story of Silver and Logan. Silver and Logan happen to meet on New Year's eve when Silver is kicked out of a bar and Logan was coming by. They talk and they 'kiss'. Logan asks for her name but he doesn't give his. Silver knows he is a Vampire and thinks the bind blowing 'kiss' was because he was a vampire. This was a good vampire romance story. Spoilers ahead

This was sometimes cute, sometimes hilarious and unfortunately sometimes a bit boring. Nevertheless I enjoyed it

H was a manwhore
OW drama as the woman who turned him and who he perhaps unwillingly slept with is the Big Bad..... thankfully she dies 😂
OW drama also from his ex ONS who wanted a repeat but homeboy don't do repeats yo! Sigh it actually wasn't overdone just 2 incidents with her
From the moment he met the h though there was no one else
h "dates" other guys throughout but they are for her investigation. After meeting the H but before they are involved she let's another vamp feed from her

All in all it was ok enough to interest me in the next though I really wasn't a fan of the ending.

Dating The Undead was a little less what I expected but had some things I totally wasn't expecting yet still managed to keep my attention despite some areas where the story hit a couple snags and lingered too long in some places I felt could have done without the added plot and useless character interactions.
That being said, I did like that the characters mostly carried the story - I do like heavy character plot than actual story plot sometimes since I tend to have a habit of getting deeply invested in the who is who, how, and why they are the way they are, their backgrounds and histories and all the little tid bits that tend to get left in the wind in a lot of books.
Dating the Undead includes a lot of past history but sadly not really in the way I was hoping. As a whole Dating the Undead didn't quite feel totally fleshed out or expanded in areas I felt could have used a little extra attention and a little long in areas I felt could have been done without all together however I still liked our h/h, I liked their journey together even with the whole little too heavy too obsessed too soon. I let that go so I could sit back and enjoy the ride without paying much attention to the road signs on the trip.
Dating the Undead was still very much worth the read as long as I didn't look too deep and the humor was very much liked. Also the ending hook grabbed me enough that I do plan on picking up the next book in this series.

Review originally posted in May issue of RT Book Reviews

Juliet Lyons’ debut paranormal romance is a madcap adventure of biting humor, steamy chemistry, eclectic characters, and some over the top antics. A strong and personable heroine delights as she navigates her way through the treacherous waters of online dating. A steamy romance balances well with the intrigue and suspense though some plotlines fizzle out while others seem to take the longest route possible to resolution. Disappointment occurs when an obvious deux ex machina is used to resolve the conflict and force a happily ever after.

Logan is a vampire and Silver is a human. They first meet on New Year's Eve and share a kiss. A few days later Silver is on the vampire-human dating site V-Date.com. This time when Silver and Logan meet, he has been sent to glamour her into believing she doesn't want to date vampires. Logan is lead to believe Silver is a police informant collecting information to use against vampires. Despite the evidence, they fall into insta-love. Logan also has an ancient vampire, Anastasia, who wants him back as a blood-bond slave. Can Logan and Silver out run two ancient vampires to reach their HEA? Is there hope for their love to grow to an everlasting love?

This novel is a nice, easy read. The main characters are delightful. The easy banter keeps the dialogue fresh. The heavier scenes are handled with sympathy and humor. The plot is simple. There is adult language and explicit sex scenes in this novel.

Logan’s 176 yrs. older than Silver. He’s 200. She’s 24. I suppose this gives a whole new slant to the May-December romance trope. Luckily, this “December” is a green-eyed hot Irish vamp. Allowances should must be made!

Summary:
Silver Harris will stop at nothing on her quest for answers. The search into her mother’s disappearance plunges Harris into the unpredictable world of online dating. She’ll meet Mr. Dead Wrong and date her way to Absolutely Not! It’s only when she meets Logan that she reassesses [did I spell that right?] her dating standards. Just because he’s clinically dead, older by 176 yrs., and works to-die-for dimples shouldn’t mean they can’t make it work. The aforementioned is not the problem. It’s the secret she’s hiding from him, that is!

Review:
Dating the Undead is the first installment in the Bite Night series written by author Juliet Lyons. I loved this uber funny story “so much”-I’m calling it a re-read. What’s not to love? There’s a heroine escaping windows to evade bad dates, a 90 yr. old woman who wields a meat cleaver like Thor with a hammer, and one freaky-creepy scene involving a dead vampire who refuses to just die already! The novel promises to give romance readers what they all hope to find: a falling-in-love story that’ll leave them smiling for days. The question now is, “What will I do until Feb. when book three releases?” You guessed correctly if you said: re-read it!

You’ll like this story if:
#1 You love the paranormal romance subgenre
#2 Think you can reform a bad boy
#3 Want to see if Silver reforms an Irish one
#4 Love funny stories that’ll make you feel good
#5 Enjoy reading about falling madly in love

Disclosure:
I purchased the ibook, and then bought the paperback at B&N. Now that I’ve read it-I’m glad I did both!

Loved, loved, loved this story! I was lucky enough to have read the Wattpad version and have already ordered the paperback edition! There is a sassy leading lady, sexy and scary vampires, action, mystery and plenty of paranormal suspense. I'll predict that DTU will be made into a movie or two, it's that entertaining.

Silver and Logan, a vampire, meet and kiss on New Year ’s Eve. As a result, Silver decides to join a dating site that is for vampires. Unfortunately, it’s not really working out for her. The police have a proposition for her that she accepts and suddenly Logan is back in her life and things get a little sticky.

Silver is not my favorite heroine. She annoyed me and it felt like she tried too hard to be a tough chick and it just didn’t work. Logan was a pretty decent hero but not really all alpha the way I like. I struggled with this one for the first half but the second half seemed to smooth out and I was suddenly very invested in this couple and their situation.

Told in dual POV it moved pretty well, especially the last fifty percent. There is no abuse or triggers to speak of unless violence by and to vampires isn’t your thing.

Received an ARC in exchange for a fair review

I'm generally a big fan of paranormal romance, but this one was just OK for me. Starting out, I didn't find the heroine to be very relatable so that could have been part of it. My favorite character was actually the quirky old neighbor (I wish we had seen more of her). I don't have much to say about this book. It was paranormal cute with a bit of a "Mafia" vibe.

That being said, I might try the next book in the series. I was definitely intrigued by the vampire cop and I'm hoping a different heroine will make this series a "must read" for me.

I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.
