From his first meeting with Holiday Jones, her fresh beauty and soft heart swept him away. The wounded veteran knew he wanted forever with Holiday. There is just one small problem. She thinks he’s someone he’s not. When his down-to-earth Holiday learns who Max really is, love might not be enough—for no matter how generous a woman’s heart, it’s difficult to forgive deception.

Patricia A. Knight is the pen name for an eternal romantic and died-in-the-wool hermit who lives in Dallas, Texas with her horses, dogs and the best man on the face of the earth. With the BMOTFOTE and pups as navigators, she travels the US in her motorcoach, affectionately dubbed, the Taj-ma-haul, on her endless search for the best chocolate cake recipe. Look for her coming to your state! (Seriously, look for her... her driving skills are sketchy.) When her PA Pam forces her to, she writes.

A Note About My Reviews:
Book reviews are wildly subjective. Many things influence whether or not a reader enjoys a book that are out of the author's control and unrelated to the quality of their writing. My book reviews deal with books I can recommend as having entertained me. For this reason you will not see reviews below a 3-star rating. My reviews are recommendations not critiques. I read books I don't like--books I can't finish. I just don't review them. I also do not review books by authors I edit. I do not review books to have mine reviewed, I'm easy to please. I don't require fine literature. Just tell me a good yarn.

Undertow by Patricia A. Knight is a celebration of the human spirit and its ability to rise above life's many ups and downs. In this story, we have Holiday Jones, a young woman who has not let adversity dampen her spirit. After two devastating personal blows, she meets Max and his service dog, Snafu, on the beach. Max is a wounded warrior in need of intense healing, and Holiday rises to the occasion in her own enthusiastic style. Will she be able to reach through Max's pain to soothe his soul? Read on and see.
Ms. Knight writes smoothly and the banter between Max and Holiday is natural and funny. She ably manages to communicate both the depth of her characters' pain and the heights of their joy. Some very steamy scenes mix fluidly into the narrative. This passion helps the reader experience not only the ecstasy of the lovemaking but the intensity of the feelings developing between the two characters. The story ends in a dramatic climax and a very satisfying resolution.
I enjoyed this book; it's a quick read that will leave you smiling. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Holiday Jones meets Max through his dog, Snafu. Snafu is Max's therapy dog. Max is a veteran of Afghanistan and was discharged after an IED exploded. This has left him with a bum leg, a propensity for seizures, and a stutter. Holiday thinks he is someone he's not and while he knows he should tell her, he's afraid to lose her. They may not have known each other for very long, but there is a very real connection between them and he's not willing to lose it.

This is, above all, a shallow book. If you're looking for depth or angst, you will not get it here. Max and Holiday fall for each other fairly quickly and even when the truth comes out, it gets glossed over fairly quickly. That's not to say that there aren't things to recommend the book: Holiday is a sweet girl and Max makes for a great hero. I just would have liked to have seen more development of their relationship. I also found it difficult at times to distinguish between the POVs as this is written in alternating 1st person. It wasn't always clear when the switch was being made.

Undertow is a quick read but if you're looking for something with more umph, this won't be for you.

This is the first book I read by Ms. Knight and I have to say I will continue to search for her books.
It’s a touching story of two individuals whose life has thrown them some curves. Holiday has learned to deal with them with a positive spirit. Even in her lowest moments, she’s doesn’t forget the ones with less than her. A young woman with a huge heart.
Max is a former Army Ranger, who suffered severe injuries after an attack that killed some of his Army buddies.
They meet thanks to Max’s therapy dog, SNAFU, and forge a friendship that neither expected but cherish. This union helps Max recover from his injuries, but secrets not revealed could tear them apart.
You will chuckle and at times cry.
Also, Max and his injuries are a reminder that our troops not only suffer physical wounds , but also emotional ones.
A story worth your time

I absolutely loved Max and Holiday.
Holiday Jones is the kind of character I love to read about. She's got a heart bigger than the world is ready for. She quirky, selfless, and carries an air of innocence around her even though she's grown up with her fair share of harshness from the world.
Max is a beat up Army Ranger that now has to learn to survive with a disability. In a world that would look at him with pity, all Holiday sees is a man trying to live. She doesn't look down on him for what he now lives with. In fact, she places them in the same "class" of the used and unseen working class for the rich.

Although I kind of figured out how the story was going to go by about the 30% marker, I still really enjoyed the book. There's no way I can give this book anything less than 5 stars!

Only issue I had was it was difficult to tell whose POV it was. Eventually I figured it out but it wasnt always clear. Otherwise I enjoyed the book. It was a sweet romance. I dont frequently read military romances but the ones I've read I liked and they read true. Meaning research went into them and they werent bs. This wasnt technically a military romance but sorta because Max's character is former Army Ranger. Holiday is a free spirit and she was raised that way because her Mom was the same. She's sweet and trusting and tries to look on the bright side of things. You can help but like her. Max has been dealt a bad blow from being injured in the Rangers. He's having a hard time with it til he meets Holiday. I recommend the book. A short but sweet romance.

Smart, Sexy and a can't put it down read. This book has most anything a girl could want in a modern romance novel. The characters are bright intelligent people with realistic issues that make it easy to identify with them. They are obviously destined for each other from the first yet the story remains interesting and holds your attention to the end. The sexy scenes are authentic without being so graphic they would upset your mother. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and freely recommend it to those who enjoy a modern take on classic romance.Patricia a Knight

Eat, pray, laugh, cry, love... What a great quick read! Former Army Ranger, the rich, the poor, a girl who's been handed more than her fair share of trouble to handle and keeps pushing forward. All I can say about Undertow is that Ms. Knight had me enthralled from her first words, down to that extremely short but sweetly delivered epilogue. Max and Holiday's journey had me on the edge of my seat to discover more about them, and holy developed characters were they! If you're looking for a quick read that'll tug at your heartstrings, make you giddy, laugh out loud due to wit, and fan yourself because of the heat and chemistry, then you've hit your mark with this read!

I enjoyed the book and this was the first time I've ever read Patricia A Knight. It was an easy read that allowed me to just relax and read. The chemistry between Max and Holiday was well written and easy. They were characters that were easy to feel emotions for, especially Max with his post military injuries.

Undertow is a quick, sexy read. Perfect for a day at the beach. The characters are quickly, but well developed. The story flows well and features a spirited female, a handsome Army Ranger, and a cute dog. The characters handle their situations surprisingly well and with amazing honesty. Well worth your time.

Such a good story. Holiday meets Max on a day when she's feeling pretty down. Max is a wounded military veteran in need of someone who is understanding, kind, and patient. Holiday and Max are perfect for each other and every time they start to get "close" she becomes clumsy and something hilarious happens. However, he's hiding a secret from her and if she finds out before he can tell her then things will get bad. This is my first book from this author but I look forward to reading more.

I love my military men!
This is an amazing story of a wounded army ranger in need of physical and mental healing and a woman who has had her emotional problem, with a heart of gold.

Holiday is feeling down and decides to go for a walk on the beach. Holiday comes upon Max's service dog. Max goes out to find his dog, comes face to face with Holiday. They have an instant connection. Just what the doctor ordered!!
Patricia A. Knight is a new author me. I enjoyed Undertow very much. I was able to connect with her characters and the plot was easy to follow. I would read her other books and definitely recommend this book to all my friends!
