I cant Be more impressed with a writer i only meet Mike Bose whe nhe sent me and email and offered me a free read well here we are know a week later and I have read all of his books and thoroughly enjoyed them all The Author does not have you sitting still the characters are robust and likeable i am pleased to know that the Author is working on another Dan adventure for us all 5 stars for this top little Novella
I sat down and instantly I was sitting beside Dan getting the orders before getting on our transportation to the drop off point. Yeah I felt like I was there. Dan loads up with tons of different weapons and the weight slows him down a little. I felt out of breath and felt like my muscles were aching for him. Dan was a one man army with me tagging along as I read his story. He fights his way into the camp to save the targets, on getting them out of there. When he got to the other men he didn't have to fight alone. I was able to sit back a little in my chair and relax. Well I thought I could but all hell broke loose. Dan and the men were fighting for their lives. The action keeps you reading and I felt at times I was there. Well good writing can make you feel like your there. That mission wore me out.
Arabian Sea; Northern Somalia. Dan Roy (34, retired US Army Sergeant, Squadron A, SFOD-D, Delta Force), was aboard the USS Bastion. Dan met with CO Gary “Gaz” Peterson (US Navy Strike Force 6, DEVGRU, Navy Seal), Major John Guptill (former 75th. US Rangers Battalion, Jalalabad Air Base), Guy Peterson, Lieutenant Colonel Jim “Fighter” McBride (JSOC, HQ of USSOCOM, AF Base, FL.), Tom Slater (Intercept, intelligence), & Command Sergeant Major O`Toole (National Security Advisor).
Dan’s next mission was to infiltrate & bring back Roderick Sparks (Senior CIA SOG), Derek Jones (CIA SOG) & Mariam Panahi (f, Iran defector, nuclear scientist IR40 heavy water plant, Arak, Iran, Assyrian Christian), to safety. Ahmed was their eyes/ears to help them get out of the country. Will Dan accomplice this mission?
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written military adventure (novella) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great military adventure movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Hell Fire by Mick Bose is the second Dan Roy book I have read. I really enjoyed the first, Hidden Agenda, a full length thriller that really hooked me. Hell Fire is great, too, but it is a short novella that allows time for only one real incident. Dan Roy has to infiltrate a compound in Afghanistan and rescue a lady scientist and get her safely back to the US. The problem is the hundred or so Taliban who surround the compound and are determined to wipe out everybody in it. Did I mention that there fewer than ten defending the place? What chance do they have? Well, there’s Day Roy, his brawn, his strength, and most of all, his sharp eyes and quick brain. This book may be short but it is one adrenaline fuelled ride from beginning to end. The action never lets up, and the tension continues to rise until it is almost at screaming pitch by the end. Loads of technical stuff here, too, for the initiated. I am clueless about that stuff but I didn’t care. It sounded totally authentic. That was good enough for me. Knowing what little I do about Bose, however, I’d bet these guns, rockets, helicopters, etc., etc., were all genuinely named and described. Dan Roy is tested here as never before. He never stopped racing about from the story started until the rip-roaring finale. Manic energy, great power, buzzing with ideas ... all I can say is: Jack Reacher, eat your heart out.
Thank you to author Mick Bose for providing this Kindle copy of Hellfire: A Dan Roy Novella.
I very much enjoyed the story, which is fast paced with a nice set of characters. This is a good setup for the continuing series featuring Dan Roy, a highly trained man of many talents.
I gave this review two stars because of two reasons. First, the book needs a good going through by a competent editor to 'fix it'. Too many errors for a released issue.
Second, although I enjoyed the core story, I feel the delivery needs attention. The characters speak in a robotic way. The story would read so much better with a more natural speaking structure.
I think this could be close to four stars with just a bit more attention to the finishing touches.
Dan Roy, a black ops soldier is given an order to infiltrate an Afghanistan compound to extract two CIA agents and their "valuable asset".
From the beginning, nothing is as it seems. Once he fights his way into the compound, he begins learning its secrets. Then the enemy surrounds them, begins scaling the walls of the compound and it looks like there is no escape. Read the book to see what happens in this nail-biting, on-the-edge thriller (this prequel will also give you an idea of who Dan Roy and Major Guptill are).
This was a fast, easy read, from the beginning to end. I could not stop until I read the entire book. It looks like Mick Bose and Dan Roy are going to be around for awhile -- and that is great news for fans!
The joke is on me. Thought I was reading Hidden Agenda of the box set. Late night, confused why I finished it so fast and the next page titled Hidden Agenda? LOLZ Old lady needs to slow down and pay attention. So after looking up the details, I see this was an included Novella. Aha!
The book was ok. A bit much massive detail on the weaponry for my taste but if you like that sort of thing you will love it. It was fine as an intro to the hero.
This book is full of twists and turns, action that is non-stop from the beginning, and a main character that I'm curious to learn/read more about. Even though there is more detail about weapons than I personally care for, it did seem appropriate for the storyline. I can't wait to see what other situations Dan Roy finds himself in.
Good read full of action, only gripe I have it's that it got quite technical with the type of weapons and their abbreviations, and it was a bit far fetched so you do have to use your imagination as to how everyone got out alive when the conditions were impossible.
Clancy, Baldacci, Flynn and the gang have company.....welcome to that team of greats Mick Bose! This novella sets the stage for a new hero.....Can't wait to see(read) the future!
I don't know why I'm an action junkie, but, I really do enjoy reading it! Boring life, but I loved it even before life got so boring! This is a series that will never be boring!
A very good military action book. It really holds your attention.
The characters in this book were done very well. This is an all action story with no break in your reading. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
A short book full of pulse-pounding action from page one. Dan Roy's capabilities are challenged by the need to rescue American assets trapped in a compound in Afghanistan. Every moment of the action is fraught with danger and the excitement remains at a fever level.
I just started reading this series and I am a fan. The writing is fluid and action packed. Dan is a memorable and strong character that had me rooting for his success and wanting to know more. I liked the intrigue and current event aspect of the story a great deal.
A great book to be introduced to.Dan Roy This author shared another incident with Dan and his ability to do a terrific job. I will keep following this author and his fantastic books about Dan Roy
Fast reading, nonstop action. Dan Roy is a Government Agent on a special mission to rescue a pair of CIA agents and a woman from Afghanistan during the War. Well written, it will grab any fan of the genre from Page 1. Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-galley for an honest review.
This novella is a good introduction to the character of Dan Roy. The story is short but the action is packed into the pages. There is a lot of violence. If you haven't read any of the other books in the series, this is a good place to start.
In an exciting novella, Mike Bose introduces Dan Roy an elite black ops soldier who works as a "war-fighter" for Intercept. A formidable man of action, when a team of CIA agents are trapped in a compound in Afghanistan with their Iranian asset Dan is assigned to storm the complex and rescue them. But nothing goes the way it should when his Chinook is ambushed on landing and the compound holding a deadly secret is surrounded by Taliban.
Fast-paced and action-packed as the Taliban mount an offensive Roy must not only find a way to escape certain death with those he’s risking his life to save but to destroy the dangerous secret in the underground bunker beneath. Amid the explosions and gunfire the plot quickly heats up when a mole in their ranks threatens the mission and everyone’s life. With heart- pounding intensity and suspense in a volatile plot loaded with fascinating characters Mike Bose paves the way for “Hidden Agenda” a lengthier Dan Roy novel.
Although the abbreviations should always be defined either once when used or in an index at the back of the book for those without any military acumen, I thoroughly enjoyed “Hellfire” and look forward to reading more of Dan Roy’s exploits in future.
A superb action novella featuring a great new central character, Dan Roy who is a very competent Gurkha serving in the SAS, but working with the US special forces on joint operations, even though this is a fairly short novella the author has managed to give us an insight into his character and background, this is very clever. I like the way the action sequences are written, they seem very authentic and certainly keep the reader on the edge of his seat, and the finale is truly spectacular. The plot contains a number of nice twists and turns to keep the reader guessing where it is going next. If I have to criticise one thing about the book it is the number of abbreviations used, I am sure that in reality a lot of these abbreviations are used by military personnel, but I could have done with a glossary of terms, as I found that trying to remember what each means did distract me from the flow of the novel. However, having said that I still think that this is a great introduction to a new character, and I am really looking forward to reading the first of the full-length books featuring Dan. I did receive a free copy of this book from the author, but I am delighted to voluntarily produce this honest review.
Kindle Unlimited, #0, lots of action, really hard for me to describe it all. Hidden Agenda is book #1 and Dark Water is #2 and great follow up books.
Hellfire: A Dan Roy Thriller (The Dan Roy Series 0) Hidden Agenda : A Dan Roy Thriller: Dan Roy Series Book 1 Dark Water: A Dan Roy Thriller (The Dan Roy Series Book 2)
Enemy Within {this one more historical action, hard to explain} but just as good as the others just different way.
A terrific introduction to the intriguing and somewhat scary Dan Roy.
Lots of guns, big ones! I doubt that's an accurate, technical, military description of Dan Roy's weapons, but I enjoyed immensely the shooting, running and of course the multiple explosions. And the twist was excellent!
Really liked the character of Dan Roy and this novella length, fast-paced, action-packed story still allowed a good insight into this likeable man who's a rather ominous opponent if one happens to not be on the side of the angels.
An overall thrilling read. I made the mistake of opening the book at a ridiculous hour of the morning and finished reading at 4 a.m. Oops. But I had to at least start it, right? And then it was totally impossible to put down. Seriously impossible.
And then I compounded my mistake by immediately purchasing and then opening 'Hidden Agenda', the next thriller with Dan Roy at its centre. An adrenaline ride all its own. And no, I didn't manage to put it down until I came to the final page either. Who needs sleep??
wow 1 chapter in, amazing!!!!!!!! Dan Roy, wow he is amazing! As you go into the book it is so fast paced you do not even notice the time passed... when you started the book it was 130 ad when you take your fist break and look up, its 345!!! I loved the plot/world/characters, it was riveting and held me spellbound, I could not stop reading it!!!it was as if I was right there!!!! The description of the characters and world are flawless. Whoever is giving bad reviews over grammar or spelling errors, get over yourself... that is in no way taking away from the story at ALL. But you ARE Taking sales away from someone trying to support a family and are being unnecessarily mean and vindictive. I hope NO one takes your reviews to heart and passes over an amazing read... The entire series is amazing!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review. This was a great beginning to a new series. I was pulled in right away and didn't want to quit reading. There was lots of suspense and mystery. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I definitely recommend.
