This book definitely deserved the five star rating. At first I was upset with Angel for not explaining to Donald that she wasn't a man, but then I totally understood her take on the matter. Angel was tired of being seen as an object, and wanted more minus the sex. I was hooked during the entire book, and laughed my butt off in some areas. I'll definitely be checking out more titles from this Author. (KU)

I don’t know how to tell you exactly how much I loved this story. I started it late one a night and had a hard time putting it down. I actually finished it the next morning. I giggled throughout the entire book. It’s such a delightful read and goes to show how much a first impression and things we say during that initial meeting can set your mind on one track and even though signs and subtleties are mentioned you’ll always go back to that first meeting and what was said.

I absolutely adored Angel. I felt bad that she had an awkward childhood and when she finally ‘blossomed’ life actually became harder for her. Not being seen for who she was is something most readers can relate to and not because like her, they’re drop dead gorgeous but because most people only look at the outside shell. Plain people, like myself, who may be beautiful on the inside, get ignored and passed over for the beautiful ones, while the beautiful ones are sought after only for their looks and not what’s inside. This shows you to look deeper.

She was tired of the game men played and decided one night to Switch when she told the latest man named Robert (one in a long line of men oglers and players) that she was a man dressed as a woman. It worked and he backed off completely. But when she told her friend Jimmy (also known as Anna), her cross dressing, gay best friend, Anna took offense and told her Karma was going to get her. Angel didn’t believe Anna and continued on with her life. Jimmy was upset and hurt because she used what he is to deter a man. It hurt Anna quite a bit and I felt bad for her.

In walks Donald. He was different from other men right from the start. It was going really well until Robert, the man she told her lie to walks into the bar. Donald notices the change on Angel immediately and questions her on it. Angel not really thinking too clearly, explains to Donald how she admitted to that him that she was in fact a guy.

She’s so nervous about Robert being in the bar with them that she doesn’t realize until it’s too late that she just told Donald the same lie. He asks if she is a guy and she does say no but the thought is already in Donald’s mind. Donald now thought she was a man dressed as a woman. To complicate things she went with it and went even further because Robert was getting closer to them. She never cleared up that she as In fact a woman. This wouldn’t have mattered but they got along so well that they kept seeing each other as friends. But what will he do once he finds out the truth? Will that change everything? Will he come to hate her for how he’s felt so conflicted? Or will it all work out? For that you need to read the book.

I love C.J.’s writing style. It was so easy to get hooked on this book from the first page and it was so smooth that I read through it very quickly. They dialogue between the characters was witty and quite fun to read. It was fun to read and laugh along with them all. I look forward to reading so much more from this author.

Angel Cruz, always the perennial tomboy, one day blossomed into dazzling womanhood and men were all over her. She grew tired of them objectifying her beauty and wanting nothing more than her body. One evening, in a bar alone, she meets a man, Donald Conner, who treats her as a person, not as a sex object, and through conversation, he believes that she is a man dressed as a woman. They develop a strong friends-relationship, and as her feelings for him change to more than friendship, she cannot find the words to tell him that she is a woman. He is beginning to have feelings for her too, and he starts questioning his own sexuality by watching porn. Her friend Anna, a female impersonator, drops hints, but somehow Donald just doesn’t believe him/her. Even when Angel actually shows him that she is a woman, he thinks she had reconstructive surgery and still does not believe her. How is she going to convince him that she is ALL-WOMAN?

My favourite read in the romance genre, is one with comedy, and this book had it all for me. It is funny, full of very clever and glib dialogue that had me laughing out loud. I especially loved the author’s banter, which was sharp and quick and very cunning. Although the story line is believable and could be a serious subject, the humour that this topic is written in will having you people-watching next time you are in a bar, as you try to figure out how real those people are. I imagine the author is a lover of old black and white films and the actors in them, because these are the films that Donald and Angel watch. He also draws on quotes from Shakespeare, calling this story a “comedy of errors”, which it is.

I loved the characters, Angel, looking for love, but it seems, in all the wrong places; Donald, finding love, but thinking it’s with the wrong sex; and Anna, who believes that honesty is the best policy. This is a well-written book, easy to read, and difficult to put down because the author ends his chapters in such a way that you want to know what comes next, so voila, you turn the page, and the next thing you know, you are at the end. This was a good read that I enjoyed very much.

A must read!!!

This story is entertaining and outlandlishly funny. Readers will enjoy spending time with Angel, Donald, Jimmy, and the multitude of fun and quirky characters. There is never a dull moment while waiting for Donald to accept the fact Angel is a woman. This is simply a fun read, no two ways about it.

This is my first from C.J. and I really enjoyed The Switch. We can all relate to a lie, but the lie spiraling this far out of control? I found myself giggling uncontrollably at the banter and outlandish circumstances Angel found herself in.

I definitely look forward to reading more from this author. He has a gift for weaving a truly engaging story. Pick this up for a fast paced and fun read!

Wow I really enjoyed this book immensely and will be on the look out for more from this author. For those of you who watched Pose, Anna / Jimmy reminded me of Pray Tell. I laughed and finished this in one day. Angel and Donald were so cute and respectful of one another and grew to love one another truthfully. A must read.

This is a fun book to read. You will laugh and cry at what go on between Angel, Donald and Jimmy. Will Donald ever find out the Angel really is a woman. Not until the end. CJ is right that this would make a great funny movie. I would definitely watch it. Enjoy reading.
