~ Fallen: An Angel Romance is an action-packed paranormal romance and urban fantasy story set in New York City. With a fresh take on magic and religion, Fallen will captivate you from the first page.
D.G. Whiskey is a world traveller who uses experiences earned and relationships forged on the road to create vivid portraits of humanity. Number of countries visited is over 18 and climbing rapidly, with innumerable friends made along the way.
The heroes are always hot alphas and the heroines are clever and independent. The writing is confident, sexy and layered.
It's such a painful story to sit through. Quite boring. The revelations should have upped the intensity of the action but it was so... meh. I tried but I just couldn't read another page.
I love DG Whiskey but I am not much into paranormal romances. I enjoyed the book but it wasn't what I usually read from this author. If you enjoy paranormal than I think you would love this book as there is lots of twists and mystery as to who people really are.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book from Mr. Whiskey. This is not what he usually writes, but he did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I love the story of Alexandriel and Zara. The Angel and the Angel Killer. Then, he throws that twist in there, wow! I must admit, I shed a few tears. I won't leave any spoilers, so one-click and read this fantastic book for yourself! You will not be disappointed.
The punchline wasn't surprising but the path to get there was worth taking. Drama, laughter, happy ending. I can see the tale having a few more stories in it.
I am amazed as this book turned out better then i thought it would. The beginning started slow and it built momentium as it went. By the time it got towards the end when they had Zara captured it got crazy. I loved the way the book ended.
I would like to say first that I did enjoy this book. It was well written and had some pretty good parts about it. There were also a few things that I felt it lacked, but I will get to that in a minute.
This story centers around Alex, who is a Guardian, and Zara, a mortal woman. Almost immediately Alex feels a pull towards Zara that he cannot control. He is both intrigued and confused by her. He immediately realizes that she is not what she appears to be. Once captivated by her, Alex unknowingly sets off a series of actions that will put him on a path to her. Zara on the other hand is both completely oblivious to her nature and as timid as a church mouse. She had a very unconventional upbringing, causing her to be shy and quite, not letting anyone get close to her. She immediately notices Alex, but brushes it off just as quick because her mother taught nothing good comes from men. She has pretty much lived her life alone and isolated. That will all change within minutes of a dangerous confrontation. The forces of good and evil are at work, and the evil wants Zara. She has no idea that she holds powers beyond any explanation. After Alex intervenes on her behalf, he is sentence to walk the earth as a mortal for the term of 1 human life, returning to his Angel form upon death. This decision will put them both on a path of discovery and danger. Zara needs to find herself, and Alex wants nothing more than to make that happen. He needs to be in her life, and although he is inherently good, he is also experiencing human emotions for the first time. He knows it's wrong to lust after her, but it is also more than that. They both feel the pull, and it is just a matter of time before they give in. While they are battling their emotions, there is also a battle between good and evil. One that will start a war if left unchecked. It is up to Zara to save everyone, but can she harness her powers before it is too late? The story was actually pretty great. I did love the chemistry between the 2 characters and the story itself was pretty well written. The chemistry was slow burning but steady. It wasn't rushed or pushed upon the reader. There were no overly long, gratuitous played sex scenes, and I greatly appreciated that. Alex allowed Zara the time and space to find herself before pushing her into any kind of relationship. Now for the not so great. The story sort of dragged in the beginning. I guess it was the over description of things. Please don't get me wrong, I like some detail like everyone else, but there was just too much for some things and not enough for others. I don't know, maybe it was just me. My only other issue was the way it ended. I wanted so much more. It felt kind of rushed to me. I wanted more. More for Alex and Zara, more about where they were both headed, more about what would come. I doubt another book could be written with these characters, but I got the feeling the end was left open for a sequel. It would have been nice to have an epilogue or a follow-up because I felt a little invested in these characters. But then again, that is just my opinion. When I read a good book, I want everything wrapped up tight with little to no questions after I'm done. After it is all said and done, it was enjoyable to read.
I loved Fallen, such loveable characters Zara and Alex. How their love slowly blossomed, he being the more experienced in relationships didn't push her too quickly. Such a caring and admirable trait. The plot twist at the end was to be expected and yet not exactly as I would have imagined. I feel D.G. should continue on with this as a series, there are other characters that could progress and he could update us on Zara and Alex's relationship.
The story is good. The writing is OK. I wouldn't call it bad or even poor. Its just lacking depth. I felt like I was skimming over a deeper story. However it also moved quickly. It wasn't overly drawn out like many other stories that could be told in one book yet consist of 2-3 books. It was a decent quick read that kept me engaged enough to want to finish the story. And it kept me occupied while waiting for the next book in another series I am reading. I think this writer has potential. He just needs to slow his roll and draw it out a little. But only a little.
This story focuses on Alex who is a Guardian, and Zara, a mortal woman. Zara and Alex's story starts out in violence but then falls way to love. Alex feels a pull towards Zara that he cannot control. He doesn’t know why he feels this pull , this attraction . Alex finds that Zara isn’t what she looks to be. Alex ends up setting off a chain of events that he didn’t mean to do which puts him on a straight path to her. Zara doesn’t know what she really is and has no knowledge of her other nature. She had a very unconventional upbringing, causing her to be shy and quite, not letting anyone become close to her , is just really quiet and sort of standoffish but she just thinks she had to be this way but didn’t know why. She sees Alex and is very attracted but doesn’t act on that attraction because of her upbringing. That will all change within minutes due to a terrible, dangerous confrontation that involved Alex. The forces of good and evil are at play and evil wants Zara badly. After Alex saves Zara, which he wasn’t supposed to, he is sentence to walk the earth as a mortal for the term of 1 human life, returning to his Angel form upon death. This decision has huge implications for the MC and leads them on a journey that will decide what happens to them –Alex and Zara face many things that will determine if they will be together or end up separated. While they are determining their fate, there is still a huge battle of good vs. evil. This story has many twists and turns along with a epic love story which was great. I loved Alex and his hunky alpha-ness and Zara was such a sweet and sassy woman who came into her own. The ending was perfect and I cannot wait to read what this author has next out.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
Every time I read a book by D. G. Whiskey, I am taken to a new literary level. This author takes my breath away. I have totally fallen for Fallen.
Fallen delivers constant excitement, danger, violence, intrigue, discovery and hot passion leading to love. Zara and Alex's story starts in violence, but ends in love. Their journey to HEA is long and dangerous, with their feelings for each other and the attraction building like a slow burn, ready to ignite when they least expect it. Their story had me on the edge from the first word unitl the very last. You just never knew what this author would deliver next. It was exciting to be a part of, with dastardly villians around every corner. The supernatural element makes this story epic, and one I will always remember.
The characters were masterfully put together, with their own unique personalities that intetwined effortlessly. There was not one moment of confusion when reading, where I asked myself WTH?? This book just had me gripping whatever was handy, awaiting the next twist in the story, the next surprise in the plot.
Fallen had all the parts that make a truly stunning romance perfectly balanced. Their was not too much violence, or not enough pleasure. It was brilliant delivered. 5 stars does not do Fallen justice, and I recommend this book to all who love love stories with a difference. D. G. Whiskey delivers another edgy and addictive tale that leaves a profoundly lasting impression
A Guardian Angel forced to be mortal for one lifetime because he dared to help a mortal, a mortal who finds she is more than she ever thought are thrown together in order to survive the darkness. Zara isn't happy with her life; she hates her job, her boss, barley makes enough to survive and is all alone. The one thing she lives by, thanks to her mom, is men aren't to be trusted, until she literally runs into the most handsome man she has ever seen. Alexandriel is a Guardian Angel and doesn't always agree with the Council's order to not intervene unless there are no witnesses and when a woman sees through all his veils he can't help but follow her. Thrown into a world where the Darkness is nipping on her heels, finding out she is a Light Beacon, a mage who powerful and good, and finally finding some friends Zara feels reassured Alex, the handsome man who saved her and then she saved him, by her side. When they realize Zara is also a Dark mage with the perfect balance of light and dark inside her, they know she is important in the battle. Alex, Zara and her new friends from Lighthaven, a safe place for Light mages in the city, battle to keep the balance from shifting to the darkness and get the Council to realize the Guardian Angels need to be more hands-on on Earth. This was a good read from D.G. Whiskey. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Fallen by D.G. Whiskey will entice and enthrall you from beginning to end. The mastery with which this rollercoaster tale of heaven and hell, good and evil is written will amaze and astound you. Just the descriptions of the characters and how they fit in this tale about the fight for the human race's survival amazes me. There is much to tell about Fallen and you will not be able to put the book down.
As the magic of the story surrounded me I found myself wanting to see into the minds of all the characters to understand their motivation. This is truly the story of good versus evil and how do you truly know which is good or bad. As Alex an angel and Draconel an archangel fight to protect an innocent are they both on the slide of right or not. Alex and Zara must find their way through the intricacies of hell and heaven to protect the human race from total destruction. This book is extremely face paced and the past versus present aspect did not disrupt the story. I have read books by this author before and this might well be my favorite. If you enjoy paranormal stories with backbone you will truly love this tale.
Wow this world travelling author went off planet for this one. What a fantastic tale of angels and other heavenly and hellish creatures. I read this in one setting as I couldn't put it down. An Angel (Alex) felt a connection to a human (Zara) who was in danger, and swooped in to save her life. His punishment from the council was to live a life as a mortal with no powers. He discovers that Zara has powers too, only she is untrained and unaware of how much and how to control them. There are so many unexpected surprises in this book that you won't be able to stop reading. I loved it, the plot was intense and the characters unearthly and engaging. The ending....I did NOT see that coming, it was fantastic. I highly recommend this tale.
I really enjoyed this book. D.G. Whiskey It started out a little slow for me, lots of detail and filling in the plot, but it really picked up and kept me interested to the end. Urban fantasy and angels, demons and devils, and all kinds of fun stuff! This is an action/adventure/supernatural book with a romantic subplot. The characters start out good, but grow and strengthen, gaining depth and like-ability as you travel deeper into the story. The story has a strong base and potential for satellite characters to gain their own stories. While this is not a "typical" story from D.G. Whiskey, you can definitely still here his writer's voice in it. Compelling, enthralling, and definitely worth the read!
