Mary Calmes believes in romance, happily ever afters, and the faith it takes for her characters to get there. She bleeds coffee, thinks chocolate should be its own food group, and currently lives in Kentucky with a six-pound furry ninja that protects her from baby birds, spiders and the neighbor’s dogs. To stay up to date on her ponderings and pandemonium (as well as the adventures of the ninja) follow her on Twitter @MaryCalmes, connect with her on Facebook, and subscribe to her Mary’s Mob newsletter.
Another free little short this time a Christmas one. I love these guys and it’s going to be really difficult to move on. In this one Jory is still attracting trouble but this time it comes in the form of chihuahuas.
Jeebus! These two can still make me swoon and I love LOVE LOVE Sam's little speech to Jory in the kitchen. Le Sigh. Just perfect they are and of course, everyone was in this so it was totes amazing.
When I'm in a reading slump one of the authors I turn to is Mary Calmes. So here I am and again she doesn't disappoint. Reminds me a lot of her newsletter story, might be even the starting point of that ongoing ficlet series and because I love to read those Another Day With Jory can't do wrong.
It's certainly no stand-alone and you have to be a fan of the Kage-Harcout family but if you are you surely enjoy this short reunion and for me it's a way to detox and enjoy other books again.
Yeah, this is a prime example of why I can only take Jory in the smallest of doses. Seriously, I'm exhausted reading about ONE DAY in his life - all the cray cray that comes with being Jory - so I'm glad I only indulge very infrequently. Now I need a nap...
Another addition to Sam and Jory and it was cute. Dognappings, phones that shock and Jory at a police station. What could have possibly happened, LOL. :)
Reading Jory's POV is also missing him, the way he always gets into trouble and how resigned yet loving Sam is about all of it. It was fun seeing the other side characters from the series - Aaron and Duncan and a little bit of Dane and Aja. Yet sadly this was reminding me of the previous short free-read because though the story was focused on Jory getting into trouble per-usual it was MAINLY, something like 90%, about the kids, the interaction with them, how they are, what they do. It's like mothers meeting at the mall. I'm NOT interested in those. I'm here about the romance which was sweet and endearing but was also shadowed by Jory and Sam's everyday's life which is now family focused or rather - kids focused.
If you haven't read this series you are seriously missing out! Go grab the first one today! I LOVED this series. These free reads at the end are just sweet snippets of what Sam and Jory's life turned out to be - domesticated mostly. But the beginning, the middle and the end, the building of Sam and Jory was a JOY to read. Seriously HIGHLY recommended.
Another quick “ficlet” available to read for free on the author’s website. This take place at Christmas time and it’s another (mis)adventure for Jory. But now I know the story of how they got Dobby. I’ve never read this and wasn’t sure when or how Dobby came to be a part of the Kage/Harcourt family.
I always love reading the “He said, he said” column in Mary Calmes’s newsletters. It’s a constant update on Sam, Jory and the kids. I wish Mary would compile them all into a volume or two for her fans. It could be like a journal of Jory. I’d definitely go back and read them all. They’re always amusing. 😊
Just like Sam said, it's never a boring day with Jory. And this one was a heartwarming, with one rescued dog, and Sam a whipped as usual. Only Jory can do that to him :)
Omg Jory the trouble magnet 🧲 Lol! Always trying to help with something and getting into trouble at the same time! Gotta love him and his sweet and caring and kind soul! 💜💜💜
This is just a very, very, very short, "day in the life" of Jory Kage... I absolutely adore this whole family and I wish that we'd get little snibbits of them, daily. Wouldn't that be amazing? Every time I get a little piece, I feel like I have to go back and re-read everything all over again! I adore them all <3
There’s a dog and a transgender kid. What’s not to love I have the same stereotype about recliners. But there are ones that don’t look like recliners. My parents have one that looks like a wing chair.
I disagree that no one should touch a kid’s cell phone. If there is a rule against cell phones at school and clear consequences of them being taken away for the day if they’re pulled out and used, I think that’s reasonable.
Lol, Aaron had never been possessive? That’s hilarious.
But why were the dogs discarded in the first place?
“Every day with you is an adventure, and you know I'd never have it any other way, right?” A new small, adorable story. I missed them so much! Thank you, Mary. You made my day. <3
This was pure Jory. And if you're familiar with Sam and Jory, you know exactly what I mean. It is a short where you read it laughing, shaking your head, and loving the ridiculousness that only Jory brings to a story. But at the same time, there is that undertone of love and happiness that just makes it all perfect.
Jory, enough said. I'm so glad this series is over and it's not going to be another one with Jory as a main character. I love the world madam Calmes created. I love Sam to pieces, but Jory not so much.
Is there any better way to end your year than with Sam and Jory? I had no idea this story existed. I'm so glad I found it. It was typical Jory and just as cute as all the others. I think it's time for a full re-read of the series.
Konec ??? Panebože prosím nééééééééé, miluji Joryho ♥♥♥♥♥ a strašně moc si přeji víc s Jorym ♥ Je to ta nejbáječnější osobnost ♥ Moc si přeji pokračování .. ♥♥♥♥♥
Krásná celá série plná vtipu, sarkasmu, napětí, strachu a lásky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Jory je prostě ♥♥♥♥♥♥
