Look at you! Such a healthy flush. You're positively glowing! Luminous, even. Katherine didn't think she had ever heard so many creative ways of being called fat before. Except she wasn't fat, of course. Even worse, she was pregnant. When Katherine begins experiencing seemingly random physiological changes a few months after being claimed as Bastian's mate, she's terrified that she may somehow be losing her supernatural abilities--her inner wolf, so to speak. In many ways, though, the truth is even she's pregnant. Amidst dealing with morning sickness, wondering how she's going to push a baby the size of a melon out of her you know, and, oh yeah, figuring out a way to tell Bastian the life-altering news, Katherine finds herself shedding her initial apprehension over her pregnancy and becoming enamored with the idea of a baby. Unfortunately, in a world where fertile wombs among werewolves are as rare as they are revered, envy and covetousness abound. Evil--both the kind that lurks in shadows, and the kind that blatantly rears its ugly head--threatens to rip away from Katherine everything she never knew she wanted.
Noelle Marie is a full time stay-at-home mom and a part time writer. When not being driven wonderfully mad by her three adorable (read: deranged) children (aged 3, 19 months, and 1 month respectively) or staring woefully at her keyboard, she can be found curled up in a comfy chair reading a book or attempting to bake in the kitchen. Occasionally she might be pestered into golfing with her husband, but is largely an embarrassment to the sport.
Her first novel, Bitten, was published in October 2014, and the sequel, Shy, was released in December 2015. The third book of the series is currently in the works.
Noelle is also the author of The Ever After Collection.
An excellent 3rd and last book in the once bitten, twice shy trilogy. Absolutely worth the read. The story line was excellent, the characters were superb. I couldn’t get enough of this series.
I might have given this a higher rating, but the MC in this series kept making the same STUPID mistakes again and again, which of course, meant she had to be rescued...AGAIN. By this book I was thinking she was Too Stupid To Live and just wanted the series to end.
Ahh! Where to begin? I was intrigued with the way the story began, even though I thought the age of the h& H were a bit young. Katherine is a 16 yr old girl who is attacked and turned into a werewolf. She appears to be sensible girl in the beginning after being led to believe her parents are dead and is kidnapped by Bastian and his pack. She turns out to be a petulant and impulsive person. At first the author suppresses her by having her tolerate all the snide remarks made to her then out of nowhere she starts fighting back but it just comes off as immature. She is to he most unfortunate soul who happens to find herself in every bad situation that can happen over and over. She has so many head injuries I thought for sure she would have problems later on. Bastian character is slightly less annoying even though throughout the series never discusses or discloses anything to Katherine even though she's his mate. There are just so many faults with these characters who had so much potential to grow but never did. There was no evolution to them just different things happening to move the story along. I had high hopes but they were quickly dashed away
Very enjoyable addition to the series. There were some trigger issues but otherwise great book! These shifters take pregnancy to a whole other level. Four glittery stars!
Ok, I'm not sure where to start with this. When I finished book 2 in this series I said to myself I hope the kidnapping attempts are over and we can move on.
Needless to say I was VERY disappointed! I mean come on how stupid is Katherine? You fall for nearly the same trick to get you alone and by the same person. I was pretty annoyed. The story would have been better without the constant abductions. I found myself skimming the last few chapters because I couldn't stand it. Thankfully this was the last book in the series.
Like what?! This was one of the worst books I every read, and I am someone who most of the time is not that critical as long as I enjoy the story... First, it is incredibely boring and repetative. Sexual assault/almost rape - check, Katherine being hold captive - check, Katherine and Bastian argueing a lot because the author seems to not think teenagers/dominant werewolfs don't communicate - check, Katherine being insecure about her relationship -check. How does someone thinks that 17 and pregnant is okay just because you are a werewolf. I mean, it is fine but not for me if you want to be pregnant at 17, but Katherine does not want to and is clearly not ready, but it is all excused because she is a werewolf, like wtf!
In general just boring, lacks action that is not predicatable and to much sexual assault(again...).

I really enjoyed this installment of the series! We get to see that things have slowed down a bit for Katherine and Bastian. Their pack is worried about the low birth rate, and the fact that, "bitten" werewolf women don't or haven't gotten pregnant. Unit Katherine does get pregnant! Other packs have been having the same problem of no or low birth rates, and that means that Katherine, showing she is fertile, becomes valuable, and coveted, which puts her in danger. I recommend reading, 'Bitten' and 'Shy' before 'Luminous,' but even if you don't, you'll enjoy this book.
This ended up being my favorite of the series. I suspected it would be too.
I didn’t like how the synopsis gave away the book’s subject. If I didn’t read it, then when starting the book I wouldn’t have known about the pregnancy and given the subject, it would have been a lovely surprise. I think the quirks of the pregnancy was very well done and unique to the series.
I really enjoyed this book. Again, the protectiveness of Bastian was stomach curling, but was also well done considering the occurrences in the novel. When she didn’t tell him right away since he said that he didn’t want children, I was worried that this would be carried into pointless, annoying nonsense but I was happy to see it wasn’t. It dragged on for what I think was an appropriate amount of time and then ended.
I was torn over the plot of this novel, despite enjoying it. I think having Katherine get kidnapped...again...and be threatened to be raped....again is a little annoying. Cute but after the first two books, it’s tiresome. At the same time, I did enjoy it, especially since they spoke about the Western colony. And because I loved seeing Bastian be how he was. In fact, having a chapter or two in his perspective would have been perfect.
I’m also going to give a bit of a series review here:
One thing that annoyed me was the “flashbacks”. And I use quotes around it for a reason. They were long, frequent, and less of a flashback. For example, this would occur: fight breaks out. Katherine gets hurt. End chapter. New chapter. Three days later and Katherine is healing. And then instead of a summary of what happened, or even a short flashback of something important that happened in that last few days, we get a 2-5 page italicized flashback. Why? Why not just make that a chapter. I.e.: Katherine gets hurt, end chapter, new chapter, what happened right after. End chapter. New chapter. Three days later and is still healing. During the first book, I learned to ignore it, but at the halfway point of it, it just became too much. Because they’re quite frequent, and always long and a similar situation that was just presented.
I found the writing could also use a once over.
I think with this series it was the author’s writing/how she chose to write it that bothered me more than the series itself. Because i did really enjoy the story. Understanding that it is a YA, so I don’t judge it for certain YA qualities. It was a fun werewolf romance story. And I suppose despite the issues I had with all 3 books, the author still wins, because I would like to check out her other books.
I forced myself to read this because of the endless 4 stars or 5 stars review but i could not stand the main characters the girl is soo annoying too weak she just only talk and too easy in my opinion and him he is uncaring and his way of showing love is questionable you know i would much rather prefer Marcus and her together. They both get angry but i felt bored of Bastians and Katherine attraction or 'love' for each other i mean it was such a waste of time to get this far there was no character development it was just always this girl who is described to be 'fierce' yet she was always in trouble and always weak and helpless and needs to be protected and rescued by none other than her powerful alpha an mate Bastain i mean yes he has dreamy eyes prominent blue eyes and he hot and bla bla his personality and talk sucks and the guy does not think before he speaks and left a 17 year old pregnant girl with heightened hormonal emotions alone after this scared girl told him shes pregnant and he walked out on her to attend his alpha meeting OK FINE he came back the next day but still he refrd to the baby as a situation i mean your scared but can you show a bit more enthusiasm your a 19 year old alpha and she is this weak girl who is stupid enough to hang on to your bipolar emotion towards her. FFS this book made me soo angry but it did have potential a good base so yea it was not even an ok. I dont thnk i even trust the reviews and comments anymore. LET ME GO MEDITATE!
the last book in the trilogy, I want to say this was the best book in the series? except that Katherine is so, so, so dumb and irresponsible, and how or why her pack insists she is strong, smart, courageous, is beyond my understanding. As she had to be strong only to survive what she herself got herself into, smart? she continually put herself in more danger by hitting, spitting and bad mouthing her psychopath captor, not too smart in my book. Courageous, only when defying her own pack to get her way... smh The book starts off when they return from her escape to her parents house, and she realizes that her home is with her pack, not her parents. Things go smooth and everything seems to fall into place, when again, she falls for the same trick, with the same person that almost had her killed the first time and is kidnapped and taken to another colony of werewolves, more dangerous and primitive with no rules and is held captive there for at least 3 weeks, before her pack discovers what happened to her. Since of course, our smart Katherine in a pissy fit after a confrontation decided to leave without telling anyone where she would go.
I'm honestly disappointed when it comes to the execution of this book and that sucks because I really wanted to love it. I've read every single book Noelle Marie has written and I love every single one of them, especially the first two books in this series. That's what makes me so sad that I couldn't love this book. I was honestly expecting more romance and more werewolf moments and the fact that Noelle reduced this because of the head character's pregnancy (no spoilers. I mean, just look at the book cover) and her kidnapping just took away the excitement and experience I got from the first books. Still, it's not all bad. There is romance and drama and werewolf. Just not enough to live up to the standard of the whole series. I still love this authors work and I will keep reading the books she publishes. I believe this was a one time thing and that she will keep writing great stories for us. I'm looking forward to her next book!
I have never read a book where the main character has so many horrible things happen to her in less than a year's time. And boy howdy, does she complain a lot!! I get she is only 17, but dang! It really grated on my nerves over how she kept saying she didn't have a choice. But i guess when you consistently make unwise choices, the end result may feel that way. Not my favorite book or even series that I've read!
Out of all three books this one was the hardest to get through. Because even though Katherine is young, you would think after the two previous books she'd have gotten a little wiser. I found her to be a complete twit in this third installment. She was so horribly stupid I was kind've rooting for her death. I'm glad for the HEA, but if there is ever a forth book I hope Katherine FINALLY gets a working brain.
Amazing ending to these books!!! I am however absolutely suggesting and begging Noelle Marie however to somehow find a way to continue this series!!! Love, in depth characters, mystery, danger its all right here waiting to be read. You won't be disappointed with this story.
I wanted more of Bastian and Katherine passionately head-butting and their romance. The kidnapping just bored me and I actually skipped it until she was rescued. I loved Bitten the most because of their passionate relationship in the first one. This one, not at all.
This book starts practically where the other one ends. Bastian and Katherine are still together, but Katherine begins to realize that something is bothering Bastian, since he has been having meetings with the council almost daily and every time he comes back he is kind of upset. She also begins to notice some changes in her, namely her appetite and nausea, as well as difficulty in transforming into a wolf. Katherine eventually discovers that the reason the council meetings have been so frequent is because of concerns about the extinction of the werewolf population in that area, as there hasn't been a single birth in 1 year. In this she discovers that bitten werewolves can rarely become pregnant, it has been over hundreds of years since this has happened. With that concern and the pressure on Bastian to come up with a solution, which may have to involve a werewolf population that is considered primitive, tempers are quite tense. When Katherine's health continues to worsen, and when the full moon arrives and she is unable to transform into a wolf even with the moon's influence, Katherine visits Gabriela (the curator of the area) and eventually discovers that she is actually pregnant. The news comes as quite a shock, especially at the time it is. Her pregnancy comes as a hope for the population, but this new situation ends up attracting unwanted attention.
This book was much heavier than the other two in the trilogy. The scenes of violence, both physical and psychological are much more and heavier, especially considering that Katherine is pregnant. It was quite difficult to read those parts where she is in captivity. Katherine, should have learned to be more careful who she trusts by now, unfortunately she ends up trusting who she shouldn't and therefore ends up suffering too much. I still like her, even though she makes some pretty dumb decisions. Bastian, I think has improved in my point of view, I even managed to like him in this book. Unsurprisingly, Markus is still my favorite character, he is the person who stands out the most to me in the entire trilogy. His relationship with Katherine is everything to me! I don't really know how to feel about the hint the author leaves us about a possible love relationship. I would like to have a book with his story. Regarding the other members of the pack: Zane was given a little more prominence in this book, but not much. Sophie continues to be a character, who is just there, but nothing really stands out about her. Who knows, maybe the author won't decide to write the stories of the other members of the pack. I can say that I would definitely read it. Caleb, also didn't have much of a highlight, he's very cute, but that's basically it. Although the author also left in the air about a probable love affair for him. Katherine's sister kind of made me like her in this book. It was a good book overall, although I must admit it was probably my least favourite book of the trilogy.
Hmmm....So much to say about this book... After reading Shy I thought I would never read another book by this author, as I really didn't like her writing style. However, I was curious as to how the story would evolve and how the author would make getting pregnant at 17 romantic. First, the good: I really appreciated the descriptions of Katherine's thoughts and actions from when she got kidnaped up until the end of the book. I really feel like sometimes authors skip past the character's desperation and just portray their escape ideas. The bad: still can't get past the writing style, the metaphors and similes used. The ugly: OMG did some characters get on my nerves!! Sophie, who I used to really like in the other two books, was so unsupportive and selfish, putting Katherine in very awkward situations. Bastien (the 19 yo boy portrayed as a man but often not acting mature enough for the title) completely shuts Katherine out of his life outside the couple. He doesn't tell her about his problems, his feelings, they don't share burdens and responsibilities... And then, when she tells him she is pregnant, he just bolts (sure, he comes back, he apologizes, what ever...) As for Katherine, well...she does ack like an unsecure 17 yo. Even though I think it was the author's intention to portray her as being more mature, "fierce" as her mate describes her, she reacts incredibly poorly to her pregnancy symptoms and later on to the confirmation of the pregnancy. She is wreckless and impulsive and so gets herself in a lot of trouble. It's sad that neither she not Bastien grow as characters throughout the 3 books. I have to admit that the only person I liked was Marcus (not taking into consideration the awkward scenes where he smells her hair...) Over all, it was an enjoyable story, with a cute romance, not to cringy intimate scenes, a little bit of action, a little bit of comment on the woman's role in society (if one dares to go so far with interpretations), but with poor execution and flat characters. I don't regret reading the series, but I would definitely not do it again.

This book was good BUT...... I mean you would think that with so much of the town not liking you and being jealous of you..... not to mention having a run in with the guy who assaulted you months before you would know better than to get pissy and go off on you own especially when EVERY time you have gone off on you own in the past something BAD has happened. But no this stubborn 17 year old gets her panties in a bunch and goes off to see a person, who has already betrayed her once before, ALONE! And on top of that, Zayne let her go so she could "cool down" and never thought that it may be a bad idea since trouble seems to follow her literally EVERYWHERE she goes. So guess what???? yep, you guessed it, she gets taken AGAIN..... I did like this series but I was a little bit over it by the end. I mean come on, how many times does something have to happen to you before you realize that you should always stay with a buddy when you leave the house???
Kathryn's stubborness was a bit over the top. I realize she is only 17 and still very much a child but damn, you gotta grow up sometime and now that you're basically married (mated) and pregnant there is no time like the present to put your big girl panties on and grow up.
Bastian was still the very sexy alpha man he's been. He's only down fall is keeping things from Kathryn. He should not let everyone in the pact in on something but keep it from Kathryn. He's kind and EXTREMELY patient with Kathryn.
I loved everyone in the pact as well. I really did like this book and i would recommend it even though Kathryn really got on my nerves in this last book.
Okay let me start by saying that this review will mention all three of the books in the series and that all though the book ends with a somewhat happy ending. I felt that the book should have been just a bit longer and given Katherine the chance to fully recover not only physically, emotionally, but psychologically as well. In every book in this series Katherine manages not only to make irrational decisions but to find herself in terrible situations that she could have avoided if she would have thought it through instead of just reacting first. In the first book Bitten Katherine almost loses her life be trusting Melanie. In the second book Shy Katherine yet again almost not only loses her life but Bastin's as well. In this book Katherine not only manages to end in a terrible situation yet again due to Melanie but it's not just her own life in danger this time but the life growing within her too. After all the roller coaster situations that Katherine puts herself and the pack through I felt that it would have been a good idea if she would have talked to someone about what she went through but that never happens. She just gets rescued, goes home, time goes on and that's it. Although this book series focuses on Katherine's story I felt that it would have been a great idea for the pack members to have their own stories told.

Katherine didn’t think she had ever heard so many creative ways of being called fat before. Except she wasn’t fat, of course. Even worse, she was pregnant.
When Katherine begins experiencing seemingly random physiological changes a few months after being claimed as Bastian’s mate, she’s terrified that she may somehow be losing her supernatural abilities – her “inner wolf”, so to speak.
In many ways, though, the truth is even scarier: she’s pregnant.
Amidst dealing with morning sickness, wondering how she’s going to push a baby the size of a melon out of her you know, and, oh yeah, figuring out a way to tell Bastian the life-altering news, Katherine finds herself shedding her initial apprehension over her pregnancy and becoming enamored with the idea of a baby.

Who could know that her uterus, and the little life growing inside it, would ever cause her so much trouble?
Last book in series.though I wud love to read abt Markus n Sam...Caleb n Serena...
2.0 Luminous wraps up Noelle Marie’s Once Bitten, Twice Shy series, but unfortunately, it didn’t hold my attention the way I’d hoped. Around chapter 9, roughly five hours in, I found myself losing interest and began skipping ahead just to get through it. Despite that, I still grasped the main plot points.
Compared to Bitten and Shy, this final installment felt overly detailed without delivering. The pacing dragged, and while there were moments of emotional resolution, they didn’t land with enough impact to justify the length. The plot was fairly predictable coming into it, with only a few small surprises sprinkled in, nothing that truly shifted the emotional stakes or added much tension for me. I couldn’t help but wonder if the content here might have been better integrated into the earlier books, making this a tighter two-book series instead.
For listeners who prefer fast-moving plots or more mature themes, Luminous may feel underwhelming. It stays consistent with the clean tone of the series, but lacks the spark or momentum to make the conclusion truly satisfying.
While I appreciate the effort to tie up loose ends, this finale didn’t quite deliver the emotional depth or excitement I was hoping for.
Holy crap, what a finale, I’m just disappointed that it’s come to an end. This read has everything in it, love, romance, hurt, betrayal, death, violence, and so much more. Katherine reels from the thought that she’s losing her supernatural power but what’s really happening freaks her out more, that is until she realises what Bastian’s true feelings are when he discovers what’s really been going on. Unfortunately Katherine seems to constantly be the target of some sadistic monsters game and this comes in the form of a really monstrous alpha!!! Will Bastian be able to save her again? Will she survive her ordeal??? Amazing story, plot, characters, and the whole idea. I love the relationship Katherine has with all the pack, there is so much going on and through that angst each individual relationship blossoms. Lots of twists, and turns, so many hair raising moments and a couple of laugh out loud moments too. I really enjoyed the banter especially between Katherine and Markus. I really wish the author had spun the stories for the other characters. Highly recommend this series.
The books were interesting, and I absolutely enjoyed seeing Bastian and Katherine's relationship grow in this slow burn relationship. The problems in the book were predictable, but I did like reading how they were handled. It has little spice, and it was not overdone, which is good for this YA novel.
I absolutely hated the fact that the author kept saying "the blonde" or "the brunette" to describe Sophie and Katherine, respectively. I understand making sure to remind readers how the characters look, but the statements seemed out of place and unneeded a lot of the times. Wouldn't mind reading a novella about Marcus and Katherine's sister, I feel like they both need a HEA.
Aside from the annoying writing, the books were easy to read. So if you are looking for a fast read with a cute ending, these books would be up your alley.
3.75 I really enjoyed this series. This book was a little frustrating though... In the beginning of the book Katherine became this shell of herself and seemed to lose the fierceness that we saw in the other two books from her. As the story continued she seemed to make the same mistakes she did in previous books showing no character growth. I also didn't like the fact that the author spent time "training" katherine in self defense to have her lose every fight she ever got into. I mean WTH ?? There was even a point that the author referred back to these training sessions and for what?? other than these pet peeves, this series was a pleasant surprise for me and I did genuinely enjoy it despite it's flaws.
I was quite disappointed with this third book of the series as I have really enjoyed the previous two books.. Disappointed as there weren't anything written thoroughly about what happened to the bastion and the pack once she was kidnapped.. The extend of Bastion miserable self while being worried about his missing heavily pregnant mate.. I know they were explained in a few words briefly what happens.. Maybe I was expecting some sort of Bastion POV - meanwhile things are happening - on alternate chapters..

How many times does one person have to run off then get assaulted to actually get the point that hmmmm maybe I shouldn’t run off half cocked because Hey! Something always freaking happens. I could put this up to youthful stupidity maybe but come on. And let’s not get into trusting people who are obviously bitter, jealous, and reactive towards her. With friends like these... I lost my patience with Katherine. Marcus was great though.

I liked the characters and their bantering . I especially loved this book dealing with the heroine’s pregnancy and her pack’s protectiveness. The heroine was extremely likable and guttsey. The hero was tall, muscular, alpha hunk of a werewolf A++ In addition, the storyline held my interest all the way through. I honestly can’t get enough. The ending to the book was very satisfying 👶❤️
Another brilliant book to this trilogy. Book 2 & 3 of the Once Bitten Twice Shy series, really reminded me of Supernatural Prison series book 3 & 4, which I fell in love with so didn't mind that one bit. Not entirely happy with the ending of this book, it was fine but more closure needed. Otherwise completely brilliant.
I really like Katherine, her strength is incredible. Bastian has the patience of a saint. I think most of all is the miscommunication and the relationship issues between them they are so young. However I like how they work together and ended up making changes and adapting. This was a good addition.
