About the author

Raghavan was born in Adyar, Chennai and spent his early years in many villages of Chengalpet District because of the frequent transfers of his father in his job. In the mid-1980s, his family shifted and settled in Chennai where Raghavanfinished his school and college studies in 1988. Even though he has completed a course in Mechanical Engineering, he did not want to take a job in a factory because of the interest in writing. Raghavan started his career as a sub-editor in Amudhasurabi Monthly Magazine. The famous weekly magazine kalki offered him the post Assistant Editor in 1992 after he showed his talent in humorous articles and stories.

Raghavan worked as an assistant editor in Kalki for about 8 years and joined in kumudam the No.1. Tamil weekly magazine in 2000. After completing a full year in Kumudam as Assistant Editor, he was appointed as the Editor in Charge for then newly started by monthly Kumudam Junction.

Raghavan left the magazine industry and became involved in publishing in 2003 and presently leading the Tamil Division (‘'Kizhakku Pathippagam'’) of New Horizon Media Private Limited.

ஊடகங்களில் இன்றும் தனக்கென்று தனி இடம் கொண்டுள்ள இஸ்ரேல்-பாலஸ்தீனம் பிரச்சனை, 1948 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் மத்திய கிழக்கில் அவிழ்த்து விட இயலாத முடிச்சாக உள்ளது. ஆண்டுதோரும் பல நூறு உயிர்களை அது வாங்கிக்கொண்டே உள்ளது.

சுவடுகளாகிப் போன வரலாற்றின் மீது கட்டியெழுப்பப்படும் மாயக்கோட்டை. இதற்கு சொந்தக்காரார் இதன் ஆசிரியரே. கொஞ்சம் பிசகினாலும் அவரது எண்ணம் வரலாற்றின் ஓரத்தில் ஒட்டுண்ணியாக நிலைபெற்று வரலாற்றின் இயல்பை அதன் அசாத்தியத்தோடு திரித்துவிடும் இயல்பைக் கொண்டது.
படிப்பதற்கு மிக எளிதாக வேகத்தில் செல்லக்கூடியதற்காய் ஆசிரியருக்குப் பாராட்டுகள். ஆசிரியரின் முன்னுரையிலேயே வரலாறு ஏதோ ஒரு தருணத்தில் ஏதோவொரு சார்புநிலையை எடுத்து விடுகிறது என்று சொல்லியது போலவே இந்த சம்பவங்களின் தொகுப்பும் சார்புநிலையை எடுத்து விடுவது சங்கடம்.
இதன் களம் கடந்த மூவாயிரம் வருடங்களாக நடந்த நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் கொலை கொள்ளைகளின் களமான பாலஸ்தீன். இது யூதர்கள், கிருத்துவர்கள், முஸ்லீம்கள் ஆகிய மூவருக்குமான புண்ணிய பூமி. இதன் மீதான பாசமும் வாஞ்சையும் பூர்வ குடிகளான யுதர்களுக்கும் அரபு பழங்குடிகளிலிருந்து மாறிப்போன முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும் சொல்லப்பட்ட காரணங்களால் முக்கியமாகிப் போக அவர்களின் ஆன்மா அதை அவரவர் வழியில் தனதாக்கிக் கொள்ள மோதிக்கொள்ளும் உறவுகள். பூர்வத்திலிருந்து பார்க்கும் போது உறவுக்குள் வருவதும் அது மறந்து அவர்களுக்குள்ளேயே வளர்ந்து விட்ட இன அழிப்பு குரோதமும் இன்றும் அந்த நிலப்பகுதியை ஒரு உயிருள்ள சுடுகாடாய் வைத்துக் கொண்டெ இருக்கிறது. இங்கு மனிதநேயம் கேள்விக் கேட்கப்பட்டுக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. மனித உயிர்கள் இங்கு முக்கியமே இல்லை. குழந்தைகள் இவர்களின் உயிர்காக்கும் கேடயப்பொருள், முன்னே வைத்து பின்னே கொல்ல மேற்கொள்ளும் குயுக்தியும் அப்போது உயிரிழக்கும் குழந்தைகள் இவர்களின் ரத்த வெறியாட்டத்திற்குமான செய்தியும் அதன் மூலம் எழுதப்படும் வரலாற்றின் பழி வாங்கும் தன்மையும் மட்டுமே. இங்கு அமைதி என்பதே அவர்கள் வணங்கும் மார்க்கத்தை மிதித்தே நிலைநாட்ட துடிக்கிறார்கள். இரு பக்கமுமே முடிவில்லாத அமைதி என்ற முடிவை எப்படி, எப்போது பெறப்போகிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லமுடியாத ஒரு கொலைக்களத்தின் இரத்த வரலாறு.

பா.ராகவனின் எழுத்துக்கள் மிக இலகுவாகவும் தெளிவாகவும் புரிய கூடியவைகள், பாலஸ்தீன் இஸ்ரேல் பிரச்சினை தொடர்பாக யூதர்கள் தோன்றிய காலத்திலிருந்து புத்தகம் எழுதப்பட்ட 2005 வரையான முழுமையான வரலாற்றை மிகத்தெளிவாக விளங்கிகொள்ள கூடிய புத்தகம் ஓரிடத்தில் தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு உதாரணமாக LTTE இனை குறிப்பிடுவது ஏன் என்று தெரியவில்லை. யூதர்கள் எப்பிடி தமக்கான நாட்டை உருவாக்கியிருக்கின்றார்கள் என பார்க்கின்ற போது தமிழீழம் இன்னும் கூட சாத்தியமாக படுகின்றது அவர்களிடம் இருக்கின்ற ஒற்றுமை இருக்கும் பட்சத்தில்..

ஒரு காலத்தில், தன் மண்ணிலிருந்து துரத்தி, துரத்தியடிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு இனம், எங்கு அகதியாக சென்றாலும் அங்கு ஏதாவது என்றால் கொல்லப்பட்ட, துரத்தப்பட்ட ஒரு இனம், பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக அகதிகளாகவே வாழ்ந்த ஒரு இனம் இன்று அமெரிக்கா கூட வரிந்து கட்டிக்கொண்டு ஆதரிக்கும் அளவுக்கு மாறியதன் பின்னணியை தெரிந்துக் கொள்ள கொஞ்ச நாட்களாக இஸ்ரேல் (யூதர்கள்) வரலாற்றை தேடிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன். இந்த புத்தகம்(குமுதம் ரிப்போர்ட்டரில் தொடராக வந்தது) கிடைத்தது. மதனின் "வந்தார்கள் வென்றார்கள்" போல சரித்திரத்தின் நிகழ்வுகளை நன்றாக ஆராய்ந்து எழுதியுள்ளார்.

"ஜெருசலேம்" - மூன்று மதத்தினரையும் (கிறிஸ்துவர்கள், யூதர்கள், முஸ்லீம்கள்) அடித்துக்கொள்ள வைத்துள்ளது. இதிலென்ன விசேசம் என்றால் கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் யூதர்களிருந்து வந்தவர்கள். ஆனால் கிறிஸ்துவத்தை பரப்ப கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் செய்தவைகளை எனக்கு தெரிந்து வேறு எந்த மதமும் செய்ததில்லை.

யூதர்களுக்கு உதவிய நாடுகள், சொந்த மண்ணில் வாழமுடியாமல் பரிதவிக்கும் ஈழ மக்களுக்கு உதவ வரவில்லை.

இந்நூலின் ஆசிரியர், ஹிட்லர் செய்த கொடுமைகளை விவரிக்கும் போது, இது போல் உலகில் வேறுங்கும் நடக்கவில்லை என்று சொல்லியுள்ளார். ஏனெனில் அவர் இந்நூலை அதாவது இத்தொடரை எழுதியது 2005ல். 2009ம் ஆண்டு மே மாதத்திற்கு பிறகு எழுதியிருந்தால் ஹிட்லருடன், ராஜபக்சேவையும் சேர்த்திருப்பார்.

பாரா வின் கட்டுரை புத்தகங்களனைத்தும் தமிழக மாணவர்கள் கட்டாயம் படிக்கவேண்டுமென்பதே எனது ஆசை. நாம் வாழும் தேசமும் , சுதந்திரமும் ஒரு விளையாட்டல்ல என்பதை உணர இந்த புத்தகம் வழிவகுக்கும்.. 4000 ஆண்டுகளாக வாழ ஒரு நாடில்லாமல் அலைந்த யூதர்கள் தங்கள் கடும் உழைப்பை மட்டுமே வைத்து இன்றைக்கு ஒரு வல்லரசாக முடியுமென்றால் , தமிழர்கள் அவர்களிடம் கற்க நிறைய உள்ளது.. சரித்திரம் தங்களுக்கு இழைத்த துரோகத்தை எண்ணி கண்ணீர் விடும் யூதர்கள் , அதே துரோகத்தை தங்கள் சகோதர இணத்துக்கு செய்வதை உணராமலிருப்பது ஒரு பேரவலம்..

Very good book explains about Israel-Palestine issue with neutrality. Before reading this book i don't know a single thing about the problem. Now i could understand the historical problem and current political situation there.

The book covers the inception of Christian and Islam religions, Turkish and Roman rule in Palestine, Crusades (holy war) over Jerusalem, World wars, Suez Canal problem, Creation of Israel, Role of Yasser Arafat in Palestine freedom fights to the current political situation.

The narration has been done in an interesting way that, while reading this 700 page book i never felt like boring. Must read for all who are interested in world politics.

Always wanted to know about Jerusalem.

This book talks about the history of Palestine, both from religious and political stand point of view and why Jerusalem is so important to Jews, Christians and Muslims. The author keeps it in impartial tones while narrating the actions of people from these three religions and the possible reasoning behind their actions.

Really disheartening to see the conflicts among these people as most of them originate from the same ancestors and differ only because they chose to follow different religions. Initially Jews lived in Jerusalem, then Jesus lived, preached, and crucified in Jerusalem. After that Muhammad Nabi led Muslims to Jerusalem as told to him by God.

After Christianism become a major religion in Europe, Europeans started to take pilgrimage to Jerusalem. They were outraged that the Christians were treated second rate citizens in Jerusalem, their holy land and so informed the Pope. With the help of the Kings of Britain and France, Pope encouraged people to join Crusades led against Jews and Muslims in Jerusalem. This led to many Jews leaving Jerusalem to various parts of the world. However, Muslims stay in Palestine and fight the crusades. Arab Muslims lived in Palestine years and years.

The intolerancy towards Jews by the European Christians as they believed Jews killed Jesus (when Jesus himself is a Jewish born...) led to many injustices from denying the basic rights to killing them. During the first world war, Hitler's cruelty against Jews brought sympathy towards Jews by British and other Europeans even though they themselves were intolerant towards Jews. Jews provided support to every country involved in World War I in the hope that somebody will help them in getting their own land somewhere, if possible in Palestine. When Britain's allies won in World War I, Palestine come under Britain's rule. Eventually, Palestine is split into Israel and Palestine like the same way India is split into India and Pakistan (which was split again as Pakistan and Bangladesh). The same animosity between Indians and Pakistan existed in Israel and Palestine, however, the level of animosity and hatred is intensified infinity times. Arab Muslims fight against this split and sought support from Egypt, Jordan. After end of this initial Israel-Palestine conflict that involved three nations, Palestine ceased to exist as their partitioned land is occupied by these other nations leaving Palestine Arab Muslims refugees in their own land.

Yasser Arafat gave hope to Palestine Arab Muslims and considered as their only leader. His peace talks with Israel were frowned upon even by Palestine Arab Muslims. But the peace talks failed because the talks doesn't involve separate nation for Palestine Arab Muslims. Even now talks/fights going on to get their homeland in Palestine instead of living like refugees there.

Author explained in detail quoting his research this conflict. He explain how unbelievable unity among the Jews and rising again and again after many injustices by many nations led to amazing advances in very new born Israel and he explain his sadness that such people who themselves faced such injustices and hurling injustices against Palestine Arab Muslims by driving them out of their own homeland.

Well written book on the most disheartening subject.

என்னுடைய பார்வை :
இந்த புத்தகத்தை ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது 700 பக்கங்கள் படிக்க முடியுமா என்ற சந்தேகம் இருந்தது. ஆனால் புத்தகத்தில் உள்ள சுவாரசியம் அதன் வரலாறு எல்லாவற்றையும் படிக்க படிக்க மிகவும் விறுவிறுப்பாக இருந்தது. இதை படித்த முடித்த பிறகு என் மனதில் தோன்றியது ஒன்றே ஒன்றுதான் இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீன பிரச்சனை என்பது இந்த நூற்றாண்டில் முடியும் பிரச்சினையாக தெரியவில்லை காரணம் இது இரண்டு மதம் பிரச்சினையாக மாறிவிட்டது அதை தீர்ப்பது என்பது அவ்வளவு எளிதான காரியம் கிடையாது.

இதைப் படித்து முடித்தபிறகு ஒரு திரைப்பட பாடல் வரிகள் தான் ஞாபகம் வருகிறது.

தற்போது நிலவும் இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீன அசாதாரண அசாதாரண சூழ்நிலை பற்றிய வேர்களை அறிய விரும்பி யூட்யூபில் பல காணொளிகளை காணும் வாய்ப்புப் பெற்றேன் எந்த ஒரு காணொளி வாயிலாகவும் எனக்கு முழுமையான தகவல்கள் கிடைக்கப் பெறவில்லை இந்த சூழ்நிலையில் நமது ஆசிரியர் பா ராகவன் அவர்களின் நிலமெல்லாம் ரத்தம் எனும் புத்தகத்தை முழுமையாக வாசிக்கும் வாய்ப்பை பெற்றேன் இப்புத்தகம் இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீனம் தொடர்பாக ஆதிகாலம் முதல் நிலவும் பிரச்சனைகளை நிகழ்வுகளை கண் முன்னே விரிகிறது யூதர்களின் வரலாறு யூத மதத்தின் வரலாறு கிருத்துவ மற்றும் இஸ்லாமிய மதத்தின் வரலாறு இறைத்தூதர்களின் வரலாறுகள் அனைத்தும் எளிமையாக புரியும் வண்ணம் ஆசிரியர் நமக்கு விளக்கியுள்ளார் ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகளில் யூதர்கள் எப்படி படைக்கப்பட்டார்கள் அடிமைப் படுத்தப் பட்டார்கள் அவர்களின் எழுச்சி அவர்களின் சூழ்ச்சி அனைத்தும் விவரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது பாலஸ்தீனர்கள் அவர்களின் அறியாமையால் எவ்வாறு அவர்களின் நிலத்தை தூதர்களிடம் பறி கொடுத்தார்கள் என்பதைப் பற்றியும் தெளிவாக விளக்கியுள்ளார் பாலஸ்தீன் சுதந்திரம் பெறுவதற்காக எவ்வாறெல்லாம் போராடினார்கள் எவ்வாறெல்லாம் போராடுகிறார்கள் என்பதையும் விளக்குகிறது அரபு தேசங்களின் ஒற்றுமை இன்மையால் பாலஸ்தீனர்கள் எவ்வாறு அகதிகளாக பட்டார்கள் என்பதை இப்புத்தகம் விளக்குகிறது மிகவும் விறுவிறுப்பான புத்தகம் அனைவரும் தவறாமல் படிக்க வேண்டிய புத்தகம் பறை இறைத்தூதர்களை பற்றியும் நேர்மையான மனிதர்கள் கற்பனைக்கெட்டாத நேர்மையான மன்னர்களைப் பற்றியும் இப்புத்தகம் விளக்குகிறது.

இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீனம் தொடர்பாக என்னுடைய தனிப்பட்ட கருத்து இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீன பிரச்சனை என்பது பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக நிலவும் பிரச்சனை பிரச்சனை இன்னும் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு உயிர்ப்புடன் இருக்கும் வளர்ந்த நாடுகளுக்கு இஸ்ரேல் தேசம் என்பது அவர்களின் ஆதிக்கத்தை நிலைநாட்ட கிடைத்த ஒரு பூமி இப்பிரச்சனையில் பாலஸ்தீனியர்கள் சுதந்திர பாலஸ்தீனை அடைவது என்பது மிகவும் கடினமான காரியம் எவ்வளவு கடினம் என்றாலும் விட்டுக் கொடுக்கும் நிலையில் பாலஸ்தீனியர்கள் இல்லை சுயநலமான அரபு தேசங்கள் பாலஸ்தீனம் உருவாவதற்கு உதவப்போவதில்லை மோசஸ் ஜீசஸ் முகமது நபி ஆகிய இறைத்தூதர்கள் தலையிட்டாலும் பிரச்சனை முடிவுக்கு வருமா என்றால் அதற்கு பதில் இல்லை.

It was the year 2003 and I was starting to comprehend some of the news that's coming on TV. It was the time when News was restricted just to half an hour per day. I hear some words on a daily basis in the news. It was the same set of keywords daily, like a clockwork. And suddenly one day the TV announced the death of a person and then these keywords eventually stopped in a month or so. The keywords always accompanied with visuals of some people trapped in a place surrounded by bombings daily. The visuals daily looked similar but never the same. The keywords in the news included "Gaza strip", Israel, Palestine, Arafat, West Bank, PLO, Hamas.

The inner me was piqued by the conflicts happening and I immediately bought a Middle East atlas to check for "Palestine". I never found this "country" but instead found all the other keywords. I never was able to understand this fully. In one of my school events, I was dressed as some Yasser Arafat who I have no wildest clue of. I was instructed to behave like a terrorist in a stage skit.

Boy, how wrong I was. It was until I read this book I understood the full gravity of what is going on. There's a saying that History is just a bunch of agreed upon lies. I realized that this saying is so true. The book is a MUST READ. I REPEAT. MUST READ. The books started from the root of the very problem and documents all the improvements and deceits that spawned the Israel - Palestine conflict, all of this in a very un-put-down-able manner. The crisp chapters helps you in making rapid progress. I thank Pa.Raghavan for giving such a wonderful insight into the very conflict that has piqued my interest for more than 14 years.

வரலாற்றை சற்றும் சலிப்பு தட்டாமல் சுவைபடக்கூறும் வித்தை தெரிந்தவர்கள் ஒருசிலபேர்தான். அவர்களுள் மிக முக்கியமானவர் திரு.பா.ராகவன் அவர்கள். தமிழ்ச்சமூகத்திற்குக்கிடைத்த நல்முத்து. அவரின் தலைசிறந்த படைப்புகளில் ஒன்றுதான் “*நிலமெல்லாம் ரத்தம்*”. இஸ்ரேல்-பாலஸ்தீன் பிரச்சனையைப்பற்றி முழுவதுமாக அறிந்துகொள்ள இந்நூல் மிகவும் இன்றியமையாதது. ஏறக்குறைய நடுநிலை தவறாமல் இந்த நுணுக்கமான பிரச்சனையை அதன் வேரிலிருந்து அணுகியுள்ளார் ஆசிரியர். மூவாயிரம் ஆண்டுகால வரலாறை சலிப்பேற்படுத்தாமல் சிறப்பான நடையில் விவரித்துள்ளார்.

யூதர்களின் வரலாறு, பாலஸ்தீனின் வரலாறு, ஹமாஸின் வரலாறு, யாசிர் அராபாத்தின் வரலாறு ஆகியவற்றையும் இளைய தேசமான இஸ்ரேல் அடைந்த அறிவியல் தொழில்நுட்ப வளர்ச்சியை ஏன் பாலஸ்தீனால் அடைய முடியவில்லை? ஏன் இஸ்ரேல் பாலஸ்தீனை தனிநாடாக அங்கீகரிக்க மறுக்கிறது? ஏன் இஸ்ரேல் எப்போதும் வெல்கிறது? இதுபோன்ற பல கேள்விகளுக்கான பதில்களையும் இந்நூல் தருகிறது.
