It was a good textbook that expanded my knowledge of teaching students to learn through the analysis of text.

Very useful teaching reference (and guide) to teaching reading literacy skills as a ocntent area teacher. My two biggest complaints about this book are that it glosses over writing strategies to focus on reading-related literacy methods. It is also heavy on the science with very few examples to support other subjects, which is a shame because I feel like the book has valuable information to offer.

This is a solid introduction to using literacy strategies in the content classroom. I especially like the chapters on teaching for diversity and building prior knowledge as well as the one that discusses getting to know your students, materials and teaching.
