Charlie:
I wasn't the type of woman that a guy like Gavin Reid would usually notice. I was a science geek that no man really paid attention to...until a mysterious hit on my life appeared on the dark web and brought me to Gavin's attention for all the wrong reasons. Sure, he was trying to save my life, but I wasn't about to buy that he was interested in any other way except for being a good Samaritan. Rich, highly intelligent, and scorching hot men like him never looked my way.
Nevertheless, he did save me in more ways than one, and once I got to know him and his monster dog, I found out that Gavin harboured his own secret pain. He'd been haunted by his past...just like me, and even though our circumstances were different, we were also very much alike.
Thrown together by accident, I had to fight our overwhelming attraction, remind myself that it wasn't real. With my life in danger, the adrenaline was high, but once we got back to the real world, the chemistry that was burning white-hot would slowly fade away and I'd go back to my safe, ordinary life again.
Do I risk it all and tell him my secrets, or do I keep everything hidden so I can walk away from him once the threat to my life is over?
Maybe the hot, stubborn, ultra-intelligent hacker is exactly what I need in my life, but can a woman like me ever be enough for a man like Gavin?

Another great read by J.S. and Cali. I love this series. The tortured souls healed and the love is evident. I loved Charlie and Gavin. It shows that 2 broken souls can heal and become one.

Charlie has got to have the loset self esteem of any character I have ever read. Of course you parents have the pawer to destroy you from the inside out and that is what happen to Charlie. Carrying guilt and remorse for something she could not stop, then being blamed for it.

Gavin was a kid on the wrong side of the tracks, but not in a violent way, so his heartbreak is even more tragic. He also blames himself for something out of his control and blames himself. To atone he trolls the darkweb trying to take down the bad guys and save a life or two. Only this time he saved his own life as well as got the girl.

I can't wait for the next story. The angst, the enviatable joy and love is what keeps me reading. Thor and Ripley are an excellent part of the story also...

I loved the first book in the Dark Horse series so when I heard about Hacked I was so excited. I was counting down the days until release day , so to say I was excited to get my hands on this book would be putting it lightly . The minute I got it I dived in and It was amazing!

In this book we follow Gavin and Charlie and I just loved these two together . They meet under some very serious circumstances with Gavin coming to find Charlie because of there is a hit out for her on the dark web , so we get to follow these two on the run from danger , at the same time trying to figure out who set up the hit and of course dealing with the attraction that is brewing between them and I loved every minute of it .I am a huge fan of both J.Scott and Cali Mackay , I have not read one book by either of these authors that I have not loved. This story was fantastic , the romance was sexy , the characters had me so invested that I had to once I again remind my self that these where characters and not actually people a few times while reading lol . Every twist and turn had me at the edge of my seat needing to know what would happen next ,I could not stop reading this book once I started it , It was sexy , It was thrilling , entertaining and delivered a happy ever after ending that had me filled with the swoons and happiness for two characters who I felt desperately deserved it . The Dark Horse series is officially one of favorite series of this year and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book . If you love all these things in your stories I suggest you get a copy as soon as you can .

A sizzling hot read that is a great mix of mystery, suspense, and romance. Loved these characters flaws and all.

Gavin Reid can't believe it, While he is trolling the dark web he comes across an "ad" for a hit on a young scientist, Charlie Wenham. Gavin's not sure what Charlie did to warrant a hit out on him but he knew he had to warn Charlie as soon as possible. He's surprised when he discovers Charlie isn't a he at all but a beautiful young woman. Gavin knows with just one look he has to help this woman any way he can.

Definitely a book I recommend.

This is a better, healthier relationship than the one in the previous book in the series. Is one of those situations when the books feel like it's even better when compared to the previous one. Gavin is nice, especially compared to how Kane treated Anna. He is just trying to protect Charlie, and he does his best to be good to her, even protecting her from him, since he thinks he is not good enough for her. Charlie's character is sweet and naive, even if she was super smart. She was a typical case of a girl traumatized by her childhood, but her trauma just made her try to be better and expect the best of everyone. They worked well together, and it's one of those cases where they make each other better. Even if they stay out of most of the action, and the book focuses on their lives and relationship, it is still interesting.

From two NY Times Bestselling Authors J.S. Scott and Cali Mackay comes the second book of A Dark Horse Novel - Hacked. This book wasn't as dark as the first book - Bound, but it's a great read.

Gavin, a computer geek likes going to the dark web in hopes to destroy it one day. He comes across an ad for a hit on a person named Charlie and wants to alert the person before something happens.

Charlie, a scientist nerd working in a biotech lab and comes across a potentially deathly virus that could be used as a weapon if it becomes available in the wrong hands.

Gavin meets Charlie in the park (not be accident by the way) and they hit it off immediately. However, Gavin must decide to act before something happens and convinces Charlie to go with him.

With bad guys on the loose, how can Gavin keep Charlie safe? Both carry baggage from the past, but are attracted to each other. Can both reveal their past and keep out of danger long enough to start a relationship?

Sexy, passionate and hot makes a great read from both of these 2 authors.
I hope they continue to co-write as I can't wait to see what they have coming next.

Standalone
Characters: Strong, but each has they own past and feelings to overcome.
Writing: Smooth, developed, and packed full of passion.
Storyline: Lives at stake with a HEA
Heat: Scorching

As fate would have it, Gavin was the computer geek that found proof on the dark Web that Charlie the science geek had a hit out on her. He had made it his mission to take out as much evil as possible. So when he shows up to casually run into her neither one of them had any idea what that would mean to them. The attraction was immediately obvious, however with Gavin having such a dark past he wouldn't let the sweet innocent Charlie past his barriers until he begins to realize she to is tortured. Two tortured souls help heal each other during a tense situation and find their happily ever after, because sometimes bad things happen and no one is to blame. It takes meeting the right person to make it better. Your past doesn't define the future.

A Beautiful Romance

Very well written. This book is a standalone but still linked to the first book in the series which told Kane & Anna’s story.

Hacked features Gavin & Charlie. He’s a hacker trying to stomp on the Dark Web every chance he gets, his most recent search reveals a contract killing on a person called Charlie Wenham. Gavin obfuscates the virtual trail and steps in, in real life to intercept Charlie. So it came as big a surprise to discover that Charlie is actually a beautiful woman. Now he needs to find out why someone would want her dead.

The rising threat has them both retreating to an FBI safe house. Both have tragedies in their past to overcome but the attraction between them is undeniable.

You can’t go wrong when you choose a J S Scott book to read and throw a bit of Cali MacKay in and you’ve got a hit! I totally liked Gavin and Charlie from the very first. They both are a bit broken but together they find out that life really can be good and happiness can be found. Gavin was so strong but you could feel the softness in him as well. He was so protective of Charlie and I loved that. My heart broke for Charlie as no one deserves to feel like they don’t matter and aren’t good enough. That is so heartbreaking when a parent does this to a child. I couldn’t put this book down, as there was suspense, bad guys and my favorite, romance! Another hit for these two authors!!

Great read

Another good book by these two brilliant authors, a really good storyline and two characters whose chemistry is off the charts. Gavin and Charlie both have deep emotional issues that they struggle to live with and both are very lonely soles who don't believe they deserve happiness. They meet purely by accident when Gavin discovers a hit has been put out on this woman , they end up in a safe house provided by the FBI and discover each others painful secrets but fall deeply in love. Gavin is just perfect for Charlie and she for him, its a great story with lots of emotional issues as well as hot sexy action and true love. Well done ladies great writing.

Charlie is in danger because she stumbled upon something illegal her boss was doing. Gavin found the hit on the dark web and decides to save her. They are both awkward people with bad pasts and they heal each other. The characters felt real and the chemistry was hot. Add in some danger and lovable dogs and this story is the whole package.

I loved this book couldn't put it down. Gavin Reid is very good at hacking and he is using his skills to help save people that are being threaten in the black web Like Charlie Wenham. Charlie is a research scientist in a biotech lab and lives with her big dog Ripley, but Gavin is surprise to find out that Charlie is a she not a he. Gavin meets Charlie at the park thanks to her dog but he soon realises that she could be in danger. Gavin takes Charlie to his home because it's safer and tells her that her life is in danger, but that he will do anything to protect her. Both Gavin and Charlie start having feelings for each other, but Gavin doesn't want to act on his feelings because if Charlie finds out about his past she wouldn't want anything to do with him.

Hacked...

Calvin's story. Delightfully written. Dramatic, sweet, heartfelt and angst filled. A love story that doesn't seem like it can appraise of so many past ghosts but in the end is so triumphantly beautiful. I wonder if there is another book coming and who it is.

I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as the first book. Something about it fell flat for me. However, it was well written, had good characters and an interesting story line. I love both of these authors and will definitely continue to read everything they write!
