iki aydır benimle her yere gelen yavaş yavaş okumayı tercih ettiğim,beni duygudan duyguya fırlatan,düşündüren,yeri geldiğinde hislerime el koyan duvarlara dakikalarca bakmama sebep olan şahane kitap Tanrılar Okulu nihayet bitti.
This book is a great read, an intimate journey into one's being, story of the “rebirth” of a common man who is the epitome of a fallen, defeated Humanity. It's interesting and joyful to experience this voyage into unknown with this person as a disciple of dreamer. It's a great experince the first time you read it, and it will surely sparkle a fire in you. And I'm sure you'll do as me at the end, give it to a friend of yours who could learn from it and pass t over (-;
Dream + time = reality! Di Anno states in his book in order to change man’s destiny, he needs to change his psychology, his system of convictions and beliefs. Thus the book teaches how to eradicate all the limits imposed on him by the society(be careful I do not mean education- but rather all the limitations imposed on you by the politicians, the day to day news reporter, the secretary of defense who says world is a dangerous place). It also shows the importance of dreaming. The planet’s most terrible illness is not cancer or Aids, but man’s conflictual thinking. This is the foundation upon which the ordinary vision of the world is built: fear is the mind killer - the book of dune has said.. And Fight Club has thought us how a near-death experience clinging to things-consuming and buying become. The direction indicated to us by the Dreamer is both terrible and wonderful, difficult and joyful, but as necessary as the journey made by the salmon, returning upstream against the current.
There is nothing out there…there is no help coming from anywhere at all – repeated the Dreamer, to impress this statement on the core of my most deeply rooted beliefs – I will never stop repeating this; nothing is outside of you…What you call the ‘world’ is only an effect…what you call reality is the materialisation, the mirror image of your dreams or your nightmares…”. “Aspire to freedom, leave this desperate multitude behind …Impose a new way of feeling upon yourself. Conquer the immensity within you and the galaxies will become grains of sand…”
“Broaden your vision and you will see the world become small…Vision and reality are one and the same thing…Look for integrity and what are insurmountable mountains for others will become tiny bumps for you!
Ιδεοληψίες, αποστροφές, εμμονές, διαστρεβλώσεις της πραγματικότητας σε ένα βιβλίο με έντονα στοιχεία (ιδέες έως και αντιγραφή) από Castaneda και Don Miguel Ruiz που προσπαθεί να κάνει τι;
Τι να πρωτοεπισημάνω; Την ακραία αποστροφή του συγγραφέα προς τα αρνητικά συναισθήματα και προσπάθεια να πείσει τον αναγνώστη ότι είναι εντελώς άχρηστα; Την απόλυτη πίστη του στην, παρηγορητική βεβαίως, ψευδαίσθηση-κλισέ ότι τα πάντα έχουν ένα σκοπό, και μάλιστα για καλό μας; Την αποστροφή για την εξαρτημένη εργασία;
Βρίσκουμε και εδώ την ιδέα ότι τα πάντα που μας συμβαίνουν τα έχουμε προκαλέσει οι ίδιοι και μάλιστα λόγω αρνητικών σκέψεων και συναισθημάτων. Ας δούμε τι λέει ο "σοφός" Dreamer στον συγγραφέα: "Η αμφιβολία και ο φόβος αποφάσισαν τα γεγονότα της ζωής σου μέχρι σήμερα." (σ.306) "Ο κόσμος είναι μία δική σου επινόηση." (σ. 306) "Μία δύστυχη ζωή, που μαστιγώνεται από δυσκολία και προβλήματα, δεν οφείλεται στο τυχαίο, αλλά στην έλλειψη επαγρύπνησης, στην απουσία της προσήλωσης για όλα όσα συμβαίνουν μέσα μας." (σ.311) "Το τυχαίο δεν υπάρχει...." (σ.303) "Κανένα γεγονός δεν μπορεί να συμβεί εξωτερικά σε έναν άνθρωπο χωρίς την, έστω ασυνείδητη, συγκατάθεσή του. Τίποτα δεν μπορεί να του τύχει χωρίς να περάσει πρώτα μέσα από την ψυχολογία του". Ας το πει αυτό κατάμουτρα σε ένα παιδί 5 χρονών που πάσχει από καρκίνο, σε ένα παιδί με σύνδρομο Down, στους πλημμυροπαθείς και σεισμοπαθείς, στα θύματα πολέμου και δυστυχημάτων, στα παιδιά που πεθαίνουν από πείνα στην Αφρική. Όλοι αυτοί επέλεξαν αυτό που τους συμβαίνει, σωστά;
It can be said that the book is handbook of New Age and that's the reason of my dislike. I don't remember how it happened but I was very curious about the book. When I started reading, after a few dozen pages, whole thing about Dreamer's saying, main character's unchanging reactions and weakness, whole situation's repeating itself made me bored. And finally, it never made me realize or learn something I didn't ever know.
DNF 25% I started reading this book because I had met Stefano and was curious about what he wrote that was so special he had to give seminars (AKA Future Leaders of the World, which I was a part of for a brief period of time thanks to my mom). I had very high expectations from this book from what I heard. Mainly, there was this talk about lead having only 3 more protons and could be turned into gold but it would take too much energy and stuff. I have to admit: It sounds pretty cool when he says it and the philosophy behind it is pretty impressive and empowering. So, I started reading it with much enthusiasm. The first 10-15 pages were great; the language was amazing because it was literary and the metaphors were beautiful. BUT once I went past this part, the book became sooooo repetitive. Believe me. I don't fall asleep while reading but this book made me fall asleep every single time I started reading it. It could have been written in under 100 pages, maybe even less. Plus, I had so many LOL moments while reading it because it was too unrealistic. I mean he literally says "anorexic people are really brave" and the justification of this statement is nonsense. He says that they are brave because they refuse to eat. Because we shouldn't eat. Because eating, a biological necessity, is an addiction and our enemy. This is nonsense in my opinion. For one thing, anorexic people don't stop eating because they want to adopt the mindset of a monk; they do it because it is an illness. So, they don't qualify as "brave". Secondly, not eating at all is utopian. It defies every biological rule. How will we produce energy, ATP, without food, carbon compounds? You have to eat something. I understand how eating can be classified as an addiction since it chains us to the material world. But giving up eating all together? It requires some legit dedication and living alone at the top of a mountain. It just seemed too unrealistic and far fetched. Don't get me wrong. I liked the philosophy of the book. the whole "you create your reality" concept is reasonable and a great way to look at the world. And I enjoyed Stefano's company but the repetitiveness of this book was too dominant that I couldn't read it anymore. If you can ignore the repetitiveness and if you are hungry for knowledge, a new way to look at the world, go ahead and read it! But be careful to have a realistic view of the world
Anlayabilene,her yöne doğru ışık tutuyor.
I think this book needs a serious critic, because: it has treasure inside it, those dreamer Ideals are just fantastic, it even looks like he's quoting Nietzsche, Sartre and Buddha... it's just so inspiring, every "dreamer" should read it, should have those ideas in mind, but Mr.D'Anna needs to improve his literary genius, to take the best out his ideas... The dreamer and especially him in the story, they're so repetitive, he should've done better, plus those ideias on sleep and food, they're unnecessary and when he speaks of the individual as the creator of "his world", "his destiny" and "his reality"... he should be specific on that point, because it's absurd saying that "the world is like that, because you are like that", he should specify "our world is like that because we are like that", is not my fault if there's starvation in Somalia or if there's a war in Syria or all the badness of the world, just like oneself, that's just irrational and absurd, he should specify that the individual is responsible for "his world"... and not that he's some kind god , and is responsible for "everybody's world"... he should focus on the dream, in our freedom to be the "homo faber", to be Nietzsche's "übermensch"... Because the book should be really clear, for better understanding of those golden ideas.
I’ve skirted with Stoicism before through Nassim Taleb and Tim Ferris’ podcast but this book was my first deep dive into Stoic philosophy. The School for Gods is set as a conversation between a man and his spiritual guide, the Dreamer. The student, who also serves as the narrator, leads a somewhat troubled life of broken relationships, unhealthy living and numerous bad decisions but the circumstances aren’t particularly relevant. The comments could be directed at any of us. The Dreamer takes a harsh approach to pointing out the student’s faults, forcing him into self-reflection and correction. I gather that the harshness is a characteristic of Stoicism…
The cutting tone probably turns many away from the ideas of Stoicism. It certainly doesn’t seem like a good philosophy to openly impose on others because one could easily come across as arrogant, unsympathetic and lacking in empathy, which is a dangerous place in the current world of social media vigilantism. Just imagine you were to suggest a marginalised community should look internally for the answer – your timeline could look like a mess in the morning. Despite these understandable criticisms, I think critics missing the essence of the philosophy, which contains powerful ideas.
Stoicism encourages the individual to turn inwardly to find the solution to problems. As I said, it wouldn’t be wise to recommend this approach to an adversary on social media but it’s an incredibly useful tool because we have much greater control over ourselves, our thoughts and our actions than over others. I love the central themes of self-determination and personal responsibility for one’s actions, rather than seeking to blame others. This approach causes action, rather than complaints, which is far more likely to result in positive outcomes.
The Dreamer encourages constant self-reflection, refocusing of attention towards one’s dreams and constructive intention in one’s actions. All interactions are seen as a reflection of internal circumstances, a mirror of oneself, not unconnected random events. Seeing the world through this light, each event is an opportunity to self-reflect, correct and improve. I think this is an incredibly powerful idea. All interactions have the potential to highlight our weaknesses because they can always be better than the before. Could we have planned, communicated, executed, prioritised or care more – maybe? Well, then why are you blaming anyone else for the outcome? Be better next time!
As I said, there is a harshness to the philosophy but for me, personally, I think it’s beneficial to approach my current challenges through this light. I need to take charge, take responsibility, take action and move forward with determination, rather than look for excuses to procrastinate and underachieve.
The explanation of frugality and fasting was insightful. These actions are taken not merely to spend less, save more or for other practical financial or health reasons. Rather frugality and fasting are used in order to reduce dependence and addition. Men become addicted and dependent on numerous external comforts, which reduces our focus on what is really important. This concept really resonates with me because I’ve been pondering the way in which we get addicted to all sorts of worldly pleasures. Social media, the internet and news flow are the areas that really trouble me at the moment – far too much time is wasted in my life on these. I expect books, courses and counselling will be directed towards these addictions in the years ahead.
Seen through this light, I better understand that the principles of frugality and fasting don’t necessarily imply a meagre life of bread and water. These principles are tools to remember that we don’t need to be dependent on anything external outside of ourselves. We can still enjoy extravagance, celebration and flamboyance but there is no need to make a permanent connection between these actions and consistent happiness. Making the wrong connections will lead to dependence, addiction and risk defeating real happiness. Happiness is an internal pursuit of our dreams through consistent elevation of oneself towards a higher level of Being – that sounds like its straight out of the mouth of the Dreamer, the teacher in this Stoic story. I’ve got a stream of great quotes from the Dreamer.
I’d recommend the book to anyone interested in philosophy. Literal readers might take more offence than I’m willing to contend with. I’m sure that anyone who is truly looking for personal self-improvement would really benefit from engaging with the ancient ideas of Stoicism though. I expect to see them find expression in my life.
“Dream dream dream… Never stop dreaming. Reality will follow.” “Be a king and a kingdom will follow” Okuması biraz zormuş gibi görünse de çok keyif alarak okuduğum, notlar aldığım, günlük hayatta anlık davranışlarımı düzenlememe yardımcı olan bir başucu kitabı oldu benim için. Because I am also a Dreamer ☺️💪
Just as D'Anno claimed, the Dreamer's revelations unraveled all my convictions about life and its purpose. After Ayn Rand's novels, the School for Gods is the most liberating book I have read to date. In fact, it is more freeing than any of her philosophy-infested, individual worshipping fictions. While Ayn Rand presents her demigods as unattainable epitomes of the perfect man, D'Anno's Dreamer tells us that any of us can become one of them and reveals the way to go about it. All we have to do is to convince ourselves that there is no such thing as death and whatever we face outside--be it joy or pain-- is solely our own manifestation. Dream that you will live forever without depending on anything or anyone else, without disease or suffering, with joy and in wealth, and you shall.
these are the sentences only swindlers are using all around the world for rich and depressed people as a life coach, therapist, clayirvorant, and mediums use. that doesn't cut any ice with me so sorry.
