(WOW I FINISHED IT, GUYS.)

This book is a treasure. I shall keep it always and in 20 years it will probably be covered in pencil marks and notes and creases and tears from being carried around and carted and referred to. It's not really designed to be read straight through, but I wanted to anyway, so I could be overwhelmed by the thoughts and see the themes and have a memory to go back to when I need something from this book again.

I reallllyyyy want Tips for Directors.

A great A-to-Z list of DOs and DON'Ts for actors and performers. Once, when I discovered a co-star was spreading rumors about me, I ripped out the listing "G - Gossip" and sent it to him anonymously care of the theatre. He never said another word about me! Its a great book to flip thru when you're needing some inspiration!

As an aspiring actor, this book has been one of my greatest weapons in improving as an actor by learning the craft.

Acting is a very hard thing to do, and I returned to acting school at the age of 33.
Acting isn’t acting.
Acting is doing. Acting is being.

It was very hard for me to understand this first starting out because I have only watched people act and never been in the thick of it.

This books showers you with numerous tips that can take your acting chops up levels by incorporating and being aware of. Though I’ve had many acting teachers, they can never hit on everything. Being aware of what might help you as an actor might be more important than anything anyone is able to teach you.

Grab this book, read it from time to time, and apply what you feel will help you grow into a well trained actor.

You will not be disappointed.

I hesitate to put a "start" and "finish" date to this book because I know it'll be in my back pocket backstage from now on. It has been on my "want to read" list for a long time now, so I guess studying acting and having it on my required reading list this past semester means I'm doing something right with my degree! I love the conciseness of this text (clearly not my own strong suit). I can pretty much open it wherever and find something I have needed to hear or be reminded of in my work. If you're an actor: BUY AND READ THIS BOOK.

Great book for any actor or director! Each "tip" is a single page, so I like to carry this with me pretty much everywhere, and just open to a random page to get a quick idea or inspiration for my next rehearsal or performance. I recommend it highly.

This is a really practical and helpful book. After reading it, I am making it a required book for my acting students. Lots of great advice and you can truly open up to any page and learn something of the craft of acting.
