A book that will delight every cat lover, full of wise and unforgettable life lessons, each paired with the perfect photo.
Cats are the ultimate savants, possessing intelligence, poise, and sass in equal measure. They know when to play it cool, and when to pounce; when to fly solo, and when to cuddle up. Entertaining, unpredictable, and just a bit wild, cats encourage us to explore, take chances, and live on the edge—just as if we too had nine lives.
Cynthia L. Copeland, author of the bestselling Really Important Stuff My Dog Has Taught Me and Really Important Stuff My Kids Have Taught Me , now turns her attention to our mysterious feline friends. Every page of this full-color gift book is a joyful reminder of what’s important in life.
Like Confidence : “Insist on a seat at the table.” Curiosity : “Have more questions than answers.” Adventur “Sometimes you have to leap before you look.” Individuality : “You’ll be remembered for what sets you apart.” Kindness : “Recognize the power of your purr.” And Solitude : “Find your own square of sunshine.”
Oh, my gosh! First, let it be known that I usually pass the cutesy books endorsed will all the witty inspiration inscriptions. This is an exception to this rule of mine. An outstanding one!
Loved it!
Q: Be the exception ... Cats have figured out that it’s just more fun to be weird than it is to be ordinary. ... Don’t be a copycat. Stay a little wild. Stay a little weird. Don’t feel obligated to explain yourself. You’ll be remembered for what sets you apart. What’s the point of doing something the way it’s always been done? Be the round, furry peg in the square hole. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHETHER OR NOT THE WORLD IS READY FOR YOU. SHOW UP ANYWAY. “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.” Make unconventional choices. ... Watch and wait. The world will present itself to you. Maintain an air of mystery. ... “If cats could talk, they wouldn’t.” —Nan Porter ... We will never really know the breadth of their adventures, or how fully they live each one of their allotted nine lives. ... Be FEARLESS—but have an escape plan. ... Invite yourself along. ... TAKE CHANCES. Act as if you have eight more lives. ... Be ready to pounce. LISTEN TO YOUR INNER LION. ... Always be on the lookout for your next big adventure. ... Let your mind wonder Cats are highly intelligent, but they don’t care whether or not anyone knows it. Be curious. Have more questions than answers. ... Act like you can see things the others can’t. JUST FOR FUN. ... Go ahead, try it! You know you’ll land on your feet. ... You’re never too small to make a big difference. ... Make an entrance. Stop traffic. Cats hold themselves in high regard—and that’s admirable. Healthy self-esteem doesn’t mean feeling superior to others, it means feeling personally content. After all, cats would never waste time comparing themselves to other cats (or fretting about what other cats—or humans—think about them). Cats believe they deserve our attention and praise, and they expect to be treated well. They aren’t shy about letting us know what they want. And though they will return our affection, cats know just when to stop, leaving us eager for more. You are self-focused, not self-absorbed. ... “Think like a queen.” —Oprah Winfrey “Never love anybody who treats you like you’re ordinary.” —Oscar Wilde (c)
This delightful book of wit and wisdom offers great suggestions for living inspired by real-life cat behavior. In addition to gorgeous full-color cat photos on almost every page, this book includes anecdotes about real feline heroes (and heroines), tips for cat care, and zen-like instructions that could help people and cats attain contentment and joy. A light read, but nevertheless charming and uplifting.
Can I just say cu-t-pie? The stories in this book about cats, they are amazing. The pictures are so much fun. I would totally recommend this for anyone who loves kitties.
No question: cats have attitude, and you can learn a lot just by observing them. Author Cynthia Copeland has done just that, and turned cat behavior into good advice. Sometimes you need to take charge and be bold. Other times, kick back and just be with friends. It’s all here, along with beautiful photos of cats doing normal, and not so normal, cat things. A wonderful book to savor and enjoy time and again.
This little book has many of the best cat photos I have ever seen. The “words of wisdom” are sometimes quite good, sometimes trite, but...hey! ...you get a book like this for the photos, right? And they are terrific!
I thought this book was adorable. It is a great gift idea for the cat 🐱 lover in your life because it celebrates all of the best cat qualities. I also really enjoyed the historical facts about famous people and their cats.
Cute book. I bought it for a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the quality content inside, rather than just the cute cat photos you might expect from such a book. But there are lots of great quotes and stories about cats that were charming and heart-warming.
this is THE book for cat lovers. Full of wit and wisdom this adorable book offers great ideas for living that were inspired by cats. Also theirs awesome cat photos on almost every single page. A must own for cat owners and cat lovers.

Cynthia L. Copeland's Really Important Stuff My Cat Has Taught Me shares information about living with a cat and about cats in general. It includes quotes from and information about writers and public figures who were known cat lovers. The accompanying photos will trigger smiles and other emotional reactions. Did you know Winston Churchill slept with his cat? Some memorable quotes: "One cat just leads to another" - Ernest Hemingway; "There are no ordinary cats"- Colette; "Never try to outstubborn a cat"- Robert A. Heinlein. Copeland's own observations of cats provide the following advice for humans: "Know when it's good to blend in and when it's better stand up and stand out; There's a fine line between adorable and annoying; Always be on the lookout for your next adventure." This is a book to reread. It would make a great gift for a cat lover. It's a way to lift your spirits while you are in bed convalescing from surgery or when you are home doing laundry and waiting for the dryer.
A cute picture book of cats with excellent quotes and page-long stories of special real cats such as Félicette, the only cat to have ever survived a sojourn into space.
