BOOK REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I first read this book when I was seven. My father’s friend, Mr. McDevitt lent it to me. (The things we remember.) It is set near the Barnegat Shoals and I always imagined Jared’s Island to be Long Beach Island (naturally enough). I’ve given this book as a gift several times but never added it to my own library. Problem solved. #books #books2023 #bookstagram #bookthreads #booktok #bookworm #reading #threads #bookreview 2023 Reviewed 📚 37
Not bad, not great. Nice story about a kid who is rescued at sea and ends up living with a couple in colonial New Jersey. He is unhappy and wants to find Captain Kidd's hidden treasure and his older brother and runs away and meets Native Americans and lives among them for a while, and then comes home and has a happy ending. We read it as a look at life in colonial times, and for a glimpse of the Native American way of life.
