Edward Craven wasn't born into a normal family. He was raised to be an animal, a hunter and feaster of human flesh. Four holidaying university students are about to stumble into his territory. They are about to discover why the town of Blackwood is deserted and they will learn the true meaning of death as, one by one, they face their predator.
Raw, visceral horror that's hard to find anymore. Disgusting to the point of physically effecting the reader.
It's a novelization, however, and the story (a typical teenagers hacked up in the woods plot)leaves a little to be desired. Other than that, an excellent, quick read that attempts to bring the slasher sub genre back to horror.
This book was wonderfully clever. Very much like what Bram Stoker did with Dracula. Garry Charles makes you empathize with the monster. No matter what he does, you understand it. The ending was such a shocker that I had to reread it just to make sure I had read it right. There is a warning attached you need a strong stomach.
