I recently finished reading "The Kinfolk Entrepreneur: Ideas for Meaningful Work" by Nathan Williams and found it to be an inspiring and visually stunning book. Through a collection of interviews and stories, the book features successful entrepreneurs from a diverse range of industries and locations, offering valuable insights and practical advice on starting and growing a meaningful business. I particularly appreciated the unique approach to entrepreneurship, which emphasizes creating a fulfilling business rather than solely focusing on profit. However, the book may not be suitable for those looking for a more comprehensive guide to entrepreneurship, as practical advice is limited. Additionally, the focus on creative and lifestyle businesses may not be relevant to readers in other industries. While the book is inspirational, it may create unrealistic expectations about entrepreneurship and lacks a critical perspective on its potential downsides. Overall, "The Kinfolk Entrepreneur" is a beautiful and insightful book that offers valuable perspectives on entrepreneurship and meaningful work.
You can consider this as a highly curated magazine on Entrepreneurship and other values linked to it. Commonly portraying profiles from the creative industry, it has instilled in me the curiosity to look them up and learn more about each project.
My favourite part was the interviews held with notable experts in business strategy, communication and leadership on key principles and ideas that are shaping today's ecosystem. This doesn't have hands on advice but is a gentle reminder that what you think is your struggle alone, is shared by more people than what you think.
Yet the one idea that clicked with me is to ask for help. Although counter intuitively entrepreneurs are expected to deal with whatever walls that show on their way, it's not uncommon that one stands clueless facing these everyday. So one has to ask for help, it sounds natural but doesn't come automatically.
The book has beautiful photography with extra special care taken with details and the creation of interesting portraits. I liked the extras in back, the dialog about leadership skills from different perspectives was memorable. Also the notion of fixing problems in Buisness takes a lot more diversity than most folks realize. I even enjoyed the unique office supply section. I love paper and flowing pens and good design... overall a nicely done publication. I’m going to look at the kitchen one next.
The Kinfolk Entrepreneur is not just an inspiring book filled with creatives from all walks of life with inspiring stories and fruitful advice, it also makes for a beautiful coffee table book. This is one you can pull out for months or years to come, a book to spark your imagination, to activate your mind when you're feeling uninspired and counterproductive. So many great success stories! My favorite part of the book was “Tips”.... How to: hire properly, lead people, ask for help, and work together were all great for insight and a few reminders on things you probably learned as a child and have lost somewhere along the busy journey to adulthood.
Williams interviews an array of professionals whom started a company. The final chapter was very hopeful and informative. it was important points for any entrepreneur.
This book was insightful. Getting the perspective of various entrepreneurs across the globe. The photos in this book were of ridiculously great quality.
- Tập hợp các bài phỏng vấn Entrepreneurs (kinh nghiệm làm việc, khó khăn, tầm nhìn etc.) Tuy nhiên chỉ bó hẹp trong lĩnh vực thiết kế sáng tạo. - Hình mình hoạ đẹp dễ sợ - Sẽ đọc lại.
Great coffee table book but nothing else really. Contains short stories about creative entrepreneurs but the stories were a bit too short and vague to really get anything useful out of them.
The third installment in the Kinfolk coffee table book series following Kinfolk Table and Kinfolk Home. A great companion to In the Company of Women and a window into the world of the entrepreneurial trendsetters!
