Rate this book
When twelve-year-old Robyn Loxley set out to save her parents, she never could've predicted that she would become Robyn Hoodlum, leader of the rebellion against the harsh government led by Ignomus Crown. But Robyn's attempt to free her parents has failed, and on top of that, her friends have been captured. And now Crown has given her 72 hours to turn herself in--or else.

Now Robyn must decide between sacrificing herself, saving her parents and friends, or advancing the rebellion. With the stakes higher than ever, will Robyn be able to succeed?

With an unforgettable heroine and a diverse band of characters, readers will be on the edge of their seats in this action-packed, much-anticipated series conclusion.

2.5 stars rounded up for a fun remaking of the Robin Hood folklore into a modern day Black heroine fighting the dread Sheriff Nott. 6 weeks before a critical election that could touch on some of the themes of this trilogy may have been the wrong time to read this.
I found the climax extremely disappointing. Some electronic flimflam and a single discontented employee who wanted more acknowledgement is a really shaky way of overturning the regime. A final acknowledgment that myth is merely myth, not prophecy is a good lesson for today’s distrusting of science in the midst of a pandemic and steadily worsening fires in California as the beginning of the scourge of Climate Change impacts long predicted by science. I think youth deserve a stronger series than this. However, I’m going to keep an eye on what Magoon writes in the future. Recommended with some reservations.

Like the first two books in the Robyn Hoodlum trilogy, this one is fast-paced and suspenseful with charismatic characters. Each book has its own flavor, and this one leans more towards social justice than either of its predecessors. It's hard not to compare Robyn's public relations war against Crown with the civil rights movement and the differing philosophies of the personalities involved in that movement. The denouement will be satisfying to some and frustrating to others, mostly due to the "Moon lore" plot. Some readers may wonder why the Moon lore was included in the story at all, but others may note that it raises thought provoking questions about the significance of symbols and history, especially in times of political upheaval and uncertainty. This series would be a strong literary addition to a middle grade social studies unit on social justice, but it's also just fun storytelling! For Sherwood unite!

Nice conclusion to the series! The writing style wasn't my favorite; there were many instances of cliffhangers at the end of chapters that end up making the story seem more mysterious than it should be. Each section was also really jumpy since it kept moving onto different characters quickly, leaving plot holes. I really enjoyed reading Sheriff Mallet's character development. There was a lot more focus on the moon lore within the book, which I personally didn't enjoy as much. More action would've been nice to show the progressiveness of the story than a lot of action happening at the end.

Tied up in a way I wasn't quite expecting, although the reader gets quite a bit from Mallet's perspective throughout the series. Physical violence and threats of death, but I don't think anyone actually dies during the series.

Second in a series

It isn't a stand alone book. For some strange reason my library has the second but not the first. It dives into the story midway and it was hard to figure out who the characters were, to connect with them or the plot.

3.75* big improvement compared to the second book, but still not quite as good as the first one

This was not as good as the first two. The beginning was a boring beginning and it left some questions.

The book Reign of Outlaws is the last book in the series. The last book ended with an adventurous escape from the Governor's mansion. They needed a plan to get the rest of the women out of the cell that they didn’t save the first time. But Robyn first needs to find the fire that needs to be inside of her to really lead the rebellion that the moon shrines say should happen. She takes some of her time to study the shrines and figure out what they really mean before she can really lead the rebellion. The Governor gave her a deadline but as expected she didn't turn herself in so the Governor started to scare her and torture her parents. But all the people of Sherwood are on the side of Robyn because she is supposed to restart the rebellion against crown. I don’t want to spoil the end but it's great. I think that the people who would like this are the people who already read the first two and they also like action. It also gets a little emotional sometimes.
