This final volume compiles issues five to eight, and continues the story when Peony went missing in the 4th issue of this comic series. I like the ending to this fun and peculiar experience of Peony as contestant in a very prestigious competition in the universe. It is a light-read and the colorful artworks are very eye-catching, so just like me, I reckon everyone will be delighted when they read this one.

This was a huge step up from Vol #1 (which never happens!). The story hooked me from the first page and didn't let go.

The perfect ending to this cute comic duology, that's all about cooking and aliens! I'm so happy for Peony and I really appreciated how the plot was resolved. I just love it when characters come together to help each other out, that's true friendship right there!
I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for other comics by this author!

I don’t know how Natalie Reiss managed to make on-page murder and a cannibal cooking show kid-friendly but she did.

Some of the potential from the first volume is squandered here with too many dumb action sequences and some gratuitous gore, but the main characters are still appealing, and the super-cute yet bloodthirsty new villain, Lil' Magicorn, is just plain fun. Unfortunately, a montage scene takes the place of an actual ending.

Somehow it got even better! Did I mention this is a queer all ages comic? About a competitive cooking show? In space? And this volume is even gayer and I love it deeply. I wish there was more, but also it's perfect, so.

So adorable, but not as strong a volume as the first. Space Battle Lunchtime features Peony, a dessert chef who gets dragged into space to compete in a cooking contest. At the end of the first volume, Peony is kidnapped, and now she's thrust into a new cooking competition... one that requires you to cook the other contestants! I see that other reviewers are quite concerned about the level of violence. You do see one character slice another in half, and that is possibly a bit much for a book aimed at younger readers. My biggest beef is that the comic felt rushed. The scenes didn't feel that fleshed out, and then it all suddenly ended. Perhaps there will be more issues in the future that help flesh things out, but it felt like the author had to end things quickly.

it's so nice of space battle lunchtime to fill the void of cannibal puns that nbc left me with after cancelling hannibal ;)
anyway this was a really cute volume and definitely a great continuation on the first one. the whole thing was just a really fun cute short story and i liked the ending, even though it wasn't what you would necessarily expect to happen. definitely recommend this to people who like lumberjanes.

Re-read 2021: Of course I had to re-read the second volume as well. Also, enormous hyped now because I just found out there is a volume 3!!!! I will be ordering that one in March (as I already ordered my books for this month). This was a delight to read, I love the character designs, what Neptunia did, there was so much action, and food, and yummy things, and more. I LOVE LOVE it. The sketches and the epilogue was great.. though I still want more, thankfully there is now a third volume so I will get what I want. Haha.

I was very sad to learn that this was the last volume in the series. :( I thought this was still ongoing, and then I saw The End at the last page. While I can see why, I still wish for more SBLt. For instance more cute dates between Neptunia and Peony, maybe another cooking show, or them just starting a cafe/restaurant of their own, I got a ton of ideas that I would love to see.
In this one Peony finds out just where she is and what is going to happen. It was quite interesting (and also creepy) that this battle still has cooking, but also allows cannibalism (aka kill everyone until you are the last one standing). That is one way to get rid of terrible cooks. Though I do feel sorry for everyone stuck there involuntarily (like Peony).
I also liked that not only do we see Peony and her predicament, but we also see Neptunia trying to figure out where Peony went and what she can do to help her girl. Neptunia is my second favourite girl, and I have been shipping her with Peony since the previous volume.
Which also made me very happy for one scene in particular. I won't spoil anything, but I was squeeing like crazy.
It was great that after all that cannibalism stuff and the battle with that annoying little deredere girl (my word, she fits perfectly with that cooking battle), we still see the final competition in the normal cooking contest. It was just a shame it was so predictable (plus I still don't believe he didn't do anything).
The ending was quite nice, though again, I would have liked some more, maybe another epilogue?
Of course the art is still the best, I just love the style and I can't wait to see what Natalie Riess will make next.

I really loved this, wish there was more but it also fit the story the best to have it only be two volumes. But I'd read a comic of Peony and Neptunia being adorable!

This series takes a sharp turn into crazy. The story focuses on something called Cannibal Coliseum, a cooking show in space where the contestants hunt each other down. The winner is the final survivor, and the losers are cooked. The violence is quite graphic, so don’t be fooled by the cute art into thinking this is for young readers. Having said that, the violence really raises the stakes, so I was worried about the safety of the main character, so I guess I could say that this volume keeps readers engaged.

This is a great ending to Space Battle Lunchtime! We pick up right where we left off with Peony being forced to compete in Cannibal Coliseum, where it is very literally cook or be cooked. How will she get out alive?
Who knew "Chopped" in space could be so much fun? The character designs are so great, and I adore the bright, almost too cute artwork. I love the message this series represents, that no challenge is too big and that friendship can be found in the most unexpected places. This is a great series for all ages!

Delightfully silly conclusion full of underlying lessons. I appreciate how much Riess is able to put into these relatively short books, and I love all the additional back matter.

I was so excited about this book since I read the previous one (Thank you, One Press). I loved the first one, but the second volume really upped it! Our dearest Earth contestant reached the final, but there were some hiccups with the crazy killing-aliens-and-then-cooking-them show! Abduction, rescue, and zero-gravity!
Space Battle Lunchtime was a really engaging read, a bit shorter than the previous one, but I love dit nonetheless! I would recommend it to readers of any age, if you're looking for a bit of fun and an intergalactic cooking competition!

I enjoyed this as much as the first volume, but a star was docked b/c this volume really confused me as to who the intended audience is. The first volume struck me as fairly kid friendly, something that growing younger readers might get into with the bright colors and the silliness of cooking with alien foods and a little bit of cheating drama... but Cannibal Coliseum kicks the violence level waaay up. Maybe it's meant for older middle schoolers (in which case the light romance element also makes a
lot more sense), but I wouldn't be surprised if the initial presentation would strike them as "too young" and be a turn off...

Ok this is a super fun series with adorable characters designs. I loved the first volume, it’s all about being an underdog in a crazy world you’re not familiar with. I loved the unique plot, it’s basically Chopped in space! In this volume we pick up right where we left off with Peony being forced to compete in Cannibal Coliseum (Cut Throat Kitchen, sadly minus Alton Brown) where she must very literally cook or be cooked. This is a fun concision to the series, even though I’m sad this is finished, I’d love side stories about Peony and Neptunia!
