They are the Arctic Brotherhood.

They are deadly fighters, fierce protectors and loyal mates.

Elliott Wilder is a mild mannered Alaskan college professor. Wilder craves the things most people find boring. Seclusion. Monotony. Anonymity. Four hundred years ago, Wilder and the other members of the Arctic Brotherhood were captured and tortured by the leader of the Siberian werewolves. Wilder is still haunted by memories of that night, when he wasn’t able to protect his leader.

Now the Siberian wolf is on the loose and seeking revenge. Not only must Wilder lead the brotherhood, he must fight the attraction he feels toward its newest recruit, Jenny Piper. Jenny offers Wilder a glimpse of the life he can’t have. Elliott Wilder has been living a life of solitude. He is the eccentric, a hot loner, grumpy professor at the university. Since that one incident four hundred years ago he has been suffering with PTSD ever since. He doesn’t want to get involved with anything violent anymore but an arch nemesis of his is back and it looks like he has no choice. An old friend pays him a visit to inform him of what is at stake. Elliott doesn’t take to well to it.

I wasn’t too sure about Elliot to begin with, he seemed standoffish but with his interactions with his team and with Jenny he thawed out.

Jenny Piper has been living in the human world after the loss of her family. Her father wasn’t a born shifter but a turned shifter. A tragedy that made her flee to the human world and never look back.

Jenny is a fantastic heroine. She is a strong alpha female and knows what she wants. In this case it is Elliott. She has her work cut out for her though.

The Brotherhood of the Midnight Sun reunites once again to fight the same evil they fought four hundred years ago. Slight problem though? The enemy is bigger and tougher than expected. It could mean the end of the world…Could

With strong Norse mythology being present in this book it gave it a more in-depth twist to the series. With a lot of mystic and magic involved and Jotunheim. Tyr and the wolf goddess Angrboda add even more layers to the story that has written here.

Shifter romance at its best and one of my all-time favourites when it comes to a trope. Vampires? Not so much. But shifters? All the time. The best thing about this book is that it is about Artic wolves and they are completely unique to other shifters. They can only shift at the midnight sun which made this book very interesting as to how to figure out in what direction the author was heading.

If you are like me and see a book you like but the author is new to you. You think twice about requesting it or reading it. You have a 50/50 just of a love/hate relationship. Many a times before I have been burnt when it has come to this other times and it applies here as well I haven’t I really enjoyed this book I wasn’t too sure to begin with but the more I read the more I felt that I had stumbled across a paranormal romance where the author thought out of the box here. On a gamble I also requested the second book which has paid off.

If you are looking for something different then I can only recommend this book and fingers crossed the series as well.

Events which occurred four hundred years ago had a dramatic impact on Elliott Wilder. He’s an Arctic wolf, one of seven members of the Arctic Brotherhood whose role is to protect werewolves. Four hundred years ago, he and the other members of the Brotherhood were captured and tortured by Siberian wolves. When the leader of the Brotherhood was almost murdered, Elliott blamed himself for not protecting their leader. He’s become a lone wolf, currently working as a college professor in Alaska, one who rarely interacts with others, has no friends and doesn’t socialise any more than he has to. When Jenny Piper turns up to speak to him, his life changes - and it isn’t totally her fault - as the leader of the Siberian wolves also returns….

This is a fast paced story, packed with paranormal and mythological characters. It has romance, peril, intrigue and magic in full measure. Elliott doesn’t feel worthy of his role in the Brotherhood, believing he had let them down four hundred years ago. Nor does he feel worthy of Jenny’s love, even though the two are attracted to each other and he’s initially determined to resist mating with her. Jenny is tough, determined, intelligent, social and faces challenges head on. The adventures as they travel to prevent the Siberian wolf and his minions succeeding in their schemes lead them into mythological realms, lethal danger, some double crossing and double dealing. It is a well paced story and I really enjoyed it.

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

3.5 Stars - 4 Flames

This was a good start to an interesting series. But first.....let's just admire that cover, shall we...sigh

Elliott Wilder, never referred to as Elliott, is an Arcic Wolf. He's hot as sin, with that amazing body and dreamy eyes and is old as hell. Yep, he's well over four hundred years old. Thank goodness he doesn't actually age. Four hundred years ago, Wilder was directly involved in taking down a Siberian Wolf who was out to destroy the Arctic race. Now, it seems as though he's escaped his prison and is out for revenge. Being a member of the Brotherhood, he had no choice but to join the crusade to bring him down again. Well...that and the fact that there was a new member who was sexy. Ok, and potentially his mate.

Jenny Piper was originally interested in teaming up with Wilder as a co-worker, as a human. She had no idea what she was getting in to when she finally met him face to face. It wasn't hard to figure out that they were both Arctic Wolves. But apparently Wilder had an issue accepting it. But why? After being thrown in to the Brotherhood, she starts to learn bits and pieces, putting the puzzle together. Thankfully her female alpha knows how to get what she wants.

Like I stated earlier, this is a nice opener to a series that I'm sure will be filled with animalistic chemistry and a continued battle between wolves. My only issue was that after building up to a couple of climactic scenes, I was left feeling a little disappointed at how easy the situation was dissolved. All in all, a good read that kept me interested throughout.

*I received this book from the Jeep Diva in exchange for my honest opinion.

If you are looking for your typical paranormal romance, with the emphasis on romance, this story might not be for you. It definitely wasn’t what I expected. Looking at the cover, and reading the blurb I thought this will be a hot read with some shifter steamy love making, alpha male, you know the usual stuff.

Ice Wolf is more about the background story, Norse mythology to be exact. There is definitely more action and character building than the actual romance, which boils down to a few hot moments and a rather predictable outcome. Like I said, not what I expected, but still thrilling and interesting.

The author managed to set the tone for the whole series, which, after devouring the first book, I cannot wait to read.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have already bought the next book too!

The cover is great because it is my favorite style having both beasts on the cover!

This is the first book in the series, and also my first time reading Jane’s work! This is for adults only due to the steamy content.

I love this new world and how it is tied to Norse mythology! Jane does a fantastic job building her world and pulling you in. I really enjoyed reading, and I sometimes have problems with the first book in a series where it is slow because of world building but not a problem in this book.

Jenny is an awesome lead. She has a tragic past, but she doesn’t let it define her. She is strong and pretty amazing. Wilder has issues too, but it is related to PTSD. He has made himself a hermit of sorts. These two together are sizzling, and it is an action packed story! I couldn’t put it down.

I recommend this book to shifter fans especially if you like Norse mythology! I can’t wait to see what comes next!!

This was actually pretty good. It helps that between the established ideas in omegaverse stories and the basis in Norse mythology, the worldbuilding worked out well. Characters did feel flat at times, and I was kinda stunned at how instant the instalove was. It was quite literally on sight, and I get that's what fated mates is going for, but wow, there was next to no buildup. Their struggle was more coming to terms with a new life standard than learning that they love each other. Samson also annoyed me by how cliched of a misogynist he was. Even when he finally accepted Jenny as a part of the group, he was obnoxious, and I don't look forward to the book featuring him. I will continue the series, though. I really enjoyed the lore.

(RabidReads.com)I am always up for a good werewolf romance so when I got the chance to read this book recently, I was totally on board with it. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, there’s just so many werewolf romances to be had out there, so one has to really stand out for me to like it. This one had a different premise and world building, so it had that going for it from the get go. That being said, it did have a problem.

Arctic wolves are different in that they have to have the midnight sun in order to shift. So if one moves away from where the midnight sun is, then they can live pretty much as a human-although they are immortal. They all have distinct Nordic features and have silver white blonde hair. A group of seven Arctic wolves are part of a brotherhood that was formed centuries before to keep the peace among werewolves in that part of the world. It’s been 400 years since the last time they were needed. The wolves have moved on. Wilder is a college professor specializing in Arctic anthropology and based in Alaska. He is approached by the brotherhood leader, Gunnar, and asked to help with a big problem. He refuses because he still has traumatic stress disorder stemming from their last meeting which involved him thinking he was responsible for Gunnar losing his hand to an enemy. Jenny is an arctic wolf that also lives as a human. She is needing Wilder to help her with a research project and meets him the same day that he refuses Gunnar. When the enemy from 400 years ago shows up unexpectedly, Wilder and Jenny end up in his cross hairs. Since Gunnar is not able to fight, Jenny becomes the seventh member of the brotherhood.

So that’s the setup. It might seem like I told a lot, but I did not go farther than a few hours of one day, and I am not telling any more story points due to spoilers. I really liked both main characters. Jenny was confident, strong willed, and beautiful. She’s not had the opportunity to live with a pack and knows only a little about the Arctic wolves. She does however feel the pull towards the midnight sun. Wilder is quieter, and is living a solitary life with the exception of his work. He lives with his nightmares of what happened four hundred years before. When he meets Jenny, his pull to her is stronger than his pull towards the midnight sun. That’s saying a lot. We also meet the others that make up the brotherhood and I enjoyed that as well.

Life and death moments, not one, but two major villains, and a good romance, rounded out this story nicely. I liked the premise of Arctic wolves and the midnight sun, and thought the book was fairly well written. At times there was a lot of background told and it was sort of a info dump, to me. When encountering an enemy and the story jumps to background info and a lot of it, before you can see what happens with the enemy, it takes you out of the moment. That was my only real problem with this read.

Since I read the first two books out of order, I already know who the next book is about. I did like this story a bit better than the second one, so I chose this one to review. I would recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, adult due to sensual scenes. I received a copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Arctic werewolves could only shift or be killed during the light of the midnight son. The midnight son called to the arctic werewolves like the moon called to other werewolves. Gunner was the alpha of the arctic werewolves and Santin of the Siberian werewolves was the alpha and enemy of the Arctic wolves. Santin went after Gunner with a silver knife but Elliott jumped on his back and Gunner’s hand was the only thing affected. Elliott Wilder was a professor at the University of Alaska. Elliott knew his colleagues regarded him as an oddity. The fact is Elliott was a loner, eccentric person. Gunner sat in Elliott office. Elliott taught Arctic anthropology. Gunner had been Elliott’s mentor and Gunner told Elliott Santin was back and has threatened Elliott personally. Gunner said Santin will come after anyone Elliott cares for. Elliott said he had no family or friends so there was no one for Santin to hurt him with. Elliott felt guilty for turning Gunner down but he already had PTSD. He’d only know this the last fifty years. For three hundred and fifty years Elliott thought he was losing his mind. Seven- only seven Arctic werewolves- the bravest and the strongest alphas made up The Brotherhood. As Elliott was set to leave he heard his name being called, the woman was an Arctic werewolf and she was Jenny Piper- Professor J E Piper and she wanted to discuss a collaboration between their two departments. But she was three hours late. Then Elliott found he had a flat and Jenny offered to call a friend who would fix it and have it back to Elliott in the morning and she would give him a ride home tonight. Jenny gave Elliott the outline of her proposal they could share resources and expertise. But that would mean they share one afternoon a week for the next semester. Elliott already knew there was no way he was going to do a collaboration with Jenny. Jenny was determined about the collaboration and Professor Wilder was hot and she would get him to agree.jenny wondered what had happened to Professor Wilder as Arctic wolves were sociable not solitary. Jenny wasn’t alone by choice, she had barely made it to her teens before her family had been murdered by hunters. Gunner showed up at Jenny’s home. Before Elliott even got to his apartment Santin was there and barefoot meaning he was ready to shift. But Elliott could only shift with the midnight sun. There was a unique bond between Arctic werewolves. Elliott had almost forgotten what physical attraction felt like but he was definitely attracted to Jenny. His inner wolf was setting the pace and that seared Elliott. Then Gunner told jenny they would be going to meet with the Brotherhood. Jenny was never meant to be alone she craved the security and organization of a wolf pack. That is why she hadn’t hesitated when Gunner suggested she join the elite Brotherhood. It offered everything jenny had been missing: fellowship, belonging, loyalty, and a common purpose. It also appealed to Jenny’s warrior spirit. Three werewolves showed up at jenny’s , gunner and Jenny slowed them down long enough to leave. Then Elliott and Jenny were heading to Jotunheim. When at their hotel before meeting the Brotherhood the next day jenny wanted to go out and play in the snow. Finally Elliott joined her and then his control broke and he kissed Jenny as though he was branding her. He took Jenny back to the hotel room Elliott had tried to fight having sex with Jenny but he gave in. Besides Jenny pointed out that if they had sex as humans she wouldn’t get pregnant and they would not be mated for life. Jenny became Elliott’s obsession. Elliott no longer wanted to be part of the Brotherhood as the nightmares are already had were enough. Once Santin was dead he was walking away for good. Elliott and Jenny met up with the the other five members of the Brotherhood and went out to the compound. Santin had already been there and destroyed the generator and radio now Gunner could not contact them. Elliott knew better than to want forever he could barely take care of himself with his nightmares and all that his spirit was damaged for anything other than isolation and melcocrity. Elliott blamed himself for Gunner losing his hand but Gunner told him anyone would have paused for a minute and he got to Santin real fast even though Elliott knew he had a silver knife. Elliott found some of that guilt lift from his shoulders. Now to kill Santin.
This was an excellent story I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The plot was great. I loved that Gunner took some of the guilt from Elliot’s shoulders. There is plenty of action and intrigue in this story. I liked there was a Goddess that was the mother of all werewolves also. Jenny and Elliott were a beautiful couple I thought. I hated it when Jenny got hurt and almost died and the pain Elliott felt. All and all a great story. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

Ice Wolf by Jane Godman is the 1st book in her Arctic Brotherhood series. This is a shifter series, with a new ancient species of Arctic werewolves, who are part of the 7 members of the Brotherhood of the Midnight Sun. The story begins 400 hundred years earlier, when the Siberian wolves were about to destroy the Arctic wolves; but at the last minute, the newest member of the Arctic Brotherhood managed to save his leader. Switch to the present time, and we meet Elliot Wilder, a professor who is a loner, and content to live in solitude. He is approached by someone he has not seen in 400 years, the leader of the Arctic wolves, and is asked to help gather the brotherhood together to fight someone so very evil that will destroy the world. But Wilder has no intention to go back to that life, until he meets our heroine, Jenny Piper. Jenny has always been alone, and now that she recognizes Wilder as one of her kind, she is determined to become part of a family.

Jenny is a strong heroine, a female alpha, who is accepted to the Arctic Brotherhood. Wilder immediately is attracted to Jenny, but fights off those feelings, as he hasn’t told anyone about his nightmares of the time 400 years ago. It will be Jenny who will help Wilder though those nightmares, and convince him to help his brothers, as his assistance is necessary to defeat the enemy, as humans across the world are threatened for destruction.

Wilder steps up, as he sees his Arctic brothers, and together they travel to the Land of the Midnight, where it all began to try to kill the Siberian wolf leader who is behind the threat. But as they meet the wolf goddess, they are met with some major twists that changes the game, and escalates the danger. Fenrir, the most evil and powerful wolf, has escaped his captivity, and in the guise of a cult leader, he is quickly brainwashing all humans to follow him; and then destroy them all. Can the Arctic wolves stop Fenrir in time?

What follows is an exciting adventure steeped in Norse mythology, with edge of your seat non-stop action. Wilder will step into the role of leader, especially after Jenny’s life is in danger. Jenny made a wonderful partner to Wilder, and tense exciting race to catch Fenrir brought the entire team together to try and save the world. This was an excellent start to a different shifter series, which will continue in future books, with each member of the Arctic Brotherhood taking a leading role in more upcoming dangerous missions. I loved all the characters that made this Brotherhood. I look forward to reading the next book, Shadow Wolf.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:

ICE WOLF suffers from having both too much information and not enough. It’s rare to want a book to cut back on the world building and just focus on the love story. Elliott Wilder is a member of the Arctic Brotherhood, an elite fighting team with only seven members. He’s tried to completely remove himself from the werewolf lifestyle. But when an old adversary escapes from prison, both he and newcomer Jenny Piper join the Brotherhood to stop the threat. ICE WOLF does twist some of the standard werewolf tropes but the pack’s a long bloody history ends up stealing too much focus. There’s not much to know about Jenny Piper but we do learn plenty about werewolf mythology.

We’re told quite a lot about the characters and their beliefs but it never feels earned. Elliott Wilder cut himself off from his pack because he developed PTSD after a vicious fight some 400 years ago. As a result he can’t sleep and has panic attacks if he even hears about werewolves in pop culture. This is brought up in the first chapter then never again. Throughout the novel Wilder has no problem jumping into fights or leading the pack. I guess all he really needed was a good lay.

There are only two named female characters in the book. Both end up kidnapped or imprisoned. Samson, another member of the Brotherhood, is introduced as a misogynist who, we’re supposed to assume, is a jerk with a heart of gold. Even though Samson is eventually awed and protective of Jenny, it’s difficult to forgive a male character who outright dismisses her abilities and belittles her, telling her she's only good enough for shopping.

Even though Jenny is a bit of a blank slate, there’s no denying the attraction between her and Elliott. The romance between Elliott and Jenny is sweet and the novel’s saving grace. The complicated mythology and backstory does pull too much focus from character development; but, if you’re into Norse mythology, you may enjoy the details that Jane Godman put into the novel.

Yea I have a thing about supernatural or paranormal books … to me they are thrilling and entertaining. Whether they are horror type or not, they take you out of this world and into another.

This begins with Gunner, the once leader of the “Brotherhood of the Midnight Sun,” trying to pull Elliott Wilder back into the the brotherhood for another fight. But Elliot wants the seclusion & anonymity he has being a college professor.
Problem with this simple idea? The Siberian Wolf that tortured them 400 yrs. before has broken free and he wants revenge. His 1st target is Elliot, until he see Elliot with Jenny Piper. Then also goes after her to hurt Elliot. But Gunner is with her trying to get her to join the Brotherhood when they are attacked. From there Elliot is in charge of the Brotherhood to bring down the Siberian Wolf, who is more than he appears to be.

The catch to this story is that the Siberian Wolf isn’t the main goal. What the Siberian Wolf released on to the world is far worse than he was. Can the Brotherhood bound together to defeat this new threat to the werewolves & mankind? Or will they be defeated wolf by wolf?

Ms. Godman created a unique world that draws you into the world where there are different types of werewolves & myths they belong to. Where they change is quick, in the blink of an eye (almost), and painless. Where they live in a society that doesn’t even know they exist.
I found the writing and telling of this story worth reading book two, Shadow Wolf.

I don’t think I liked anything about this book.

There was a conflict between the wolf species in the past and this book shows a continuation of that.

I didn’t care about Jenny or Wilder, but I think Wilder was worse because he was dramatic.

While you get to know about the past conflict, it felt like there should have been a separate book for that. The villain, Santin, is always a step ahead of the Arctic Brotherhood and is made out to be hard to kill. There were also other things in this book that were talked about being almost impossible to get done, and yet each problem was solved very quickly and, for the most part, easily.

Another thing that I didn’t like was how the goddess, Angrboda, was made out to be a fierce, clever and fair, and yet it felt like the opposite was shown. She ignores what Santin does and doesn’t seem to care all that much about the other situation .

The Arctic Brotherhood is also able to communicate telepathically but it was hard to distinguish which parts of the text were the communications and which was just the character thinking to themselves.

This book was overly dramatic, and I definitely don’t want to continue with this series.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. This is the first time I have tried this author. It is the first book in a series and what caught my eye was the cover. After the cover caught my eye, I decided to read the description which interested me enough to try it. I must say I am very happy I chose to read this book. I look forward to continuing with the rest of the series.

The characters are well developed and the plot is intriguing. It was a fast paced book that went quickly. While some parts of the story are predictable it throws a few curves at you. The book concludes nicely and allows you to be able to end with this story if you choose to. However, the ending does make you interested to see what will come next for the characters.

Received an ARC from Netgalley.

There are a lot of plot holes in this story. Also, the action/fight scenes have a lot of build-up, but then are anticlimactic. It results in a disappointing feeling. And, why are there 2 evil villains to fight and destroy? There's so much build-up around Santin and then the fight comes and it's just... oh. Okay. That was pointless. And then the next bad guy gets all this build up and then it's all.... okay, really? They just defeated the most evil and powerful werewolf ever and that's it?

This story could have been split into 2 books easily, but a lot more fleshing out of the story would be necessary.

Overall it was an okay read. If you like a different take on shifters, go for it.

I freely admit that Shifter Romance has become my first love in the reading world. It’s always a delight to me, personally, when I discover a new author in the genre, especially when her slant on the lore of shifters has such a unique touch to it. While I devoured both Ice Wolf and Shadow Wolf, I am certainly looking forward to more in this series, and from it’s author Jane Goodman.

Elliot is a wounded soul. In his long life he has faced many things, seen the worst that his kind can inflict upon both wolves and humanity. In today’s world he wold have been diagnosed with PTSD. He suffers from memories he cannot escape, and the knowledge that he was unable to completely save his leader from attack. Although the loss of the use of a hand is preferable to the loss of a life – but Elliot doesn’t see it that way, in his mind he failed. He now prefers his solitary world, his life as a professor and trying to live with his memories. Unfortunately his time in seclusion is about to end with the knowledge that the Arctic Brotherhood’s greatest enemy has returned… and he crosses paths with another professor, a woman who will change his life, a woman who he will fight his attraction for but would lay his life down for if need be.

Elliot and Jenny make an intriguing couple. She’s stronger than most think, and determined to fight against a common enemy while losing her heart to this wounded wolf. Elliot will emerge stronger than he believes possible, and discover that there is release from the memories in the arms of a woman he’s afraid to love but cannot escape.

This story is a unique look at shifters and their lore. Yet, it doesn’t take long to fall into the flow of the story and begin to care about what happens to these people who have been through so much. If you enjoy either Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance, then Ice Wolf is a story that you’ll want to get your hands on. Fast paced, detailed and full of likable characters – and some very nasty ones as well – this is a universe that you can get caught up in quite easily. I would definitely recommend this story and the series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

“I was pleasantly surprised by this read. With fluid writing and a unique take on the lore, “Ice Wolf” takes the legends of werewolves on an exciting new journey .... I did think the climax was lacking a bit ... [But] All in all, it was a great read.” - Hazel w/Craves the Angst, Reviewing for Cocktails and Books

An interesting concept of shifter wolves. I love how Jane Goodman wrapped her novels into the Nordic mythology history and the concept of Arctic Werewolves was also interesting. A bit of the logic behind Arctic wolves was baffling, but I think mostly because I've never heard of the concept of the midnight sun. I did really like Elliot and Jenny even though Jenny's character was bit underdeveloped and rushed. Elliot and the Brotherhood seemed to be the driving focus of the novel and were excellently portrayed though.

I love werewolf stories and this was a delightful new take on the theme. I loved the brotherhood. Their loyalty to each other and their friendship made this story stand out for me. The characters were well-rounded, the story strong and I enjoyed the mix of werewolf lore, contemporary romance and Norse legend.

Thrilled to have found a new-to-me author and a new series.

A different take on the wolf shifter genre. I was quite impressed with this book and I'm getting ready to start the second book. I liked Wilder a lot. To see his growth from loner wolf who didn't seem so sure of himself to a pretty decent alpha male was an exciting journey. I think it was Jenny believing in him to bring it out of him. Really happy with this book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

3 1/2 - 4 stars

This was an exciting, highly entertaining, romantic suspense that I really enjoyed. There was a lot of action, mystery, intense situations, and suspense that kept the pages turning. The complex characters, intriguing storyline, humorous banter, and the steamy chemistry all made for a fantastic read. This was a great beginning to this series, and I can't wait to start the next book.

As much as I enjoyed this book, there were a few things that didn't work for me. The build up of hunting down each of the villains was exciting, and suspenseful, but once they were caught, it was over quickly and anticlimactic. It would have been better had there been more of a challenge, especially considering who they were after, and the unique powers they had. The epilogue was good, but at least to me, unnecessary. It was a lead into a future story, and instead of the HEA that this book would have ended in, it became more of a HFN due to the epilogue.

This was the first book I have read by this author, and I really enjoyed the writing style, as well as the characters and plot. I am looking forward to reading more from this author, including this series.

I would recommend this book.

Ice Wolf is the first book I have read by Jane Godman. The exciting beginning hooked me into the story even though I figured it would switch to the present soon. It is a clear good versus evil kind of story with a few twists thrown in for good measure. The idea of wolf shifters being from different areas with their different traits and physical appearances is not original but Ms. Godman gave this a fresh approach which I enjoyed.

The writing and plot is strong; I was liked the extra insight such as why seven is so important to the brotherhood. The fact that a shifter could suffer from PTSD like Elliot dies also gives this story a uniqueness I like. I had one but only one complaint. The danger, action, and character development were so well done that the abundance of sexual references and scenes between Eliot and Jenny seemed to take the focus away from the plot; it didn’t feel like romance to me. I understand that the characters had an animal nature but still they also had a human nature. Still it would not hinder me from reading more of this series. I sincerely hope all the others get their story, meaning I would buy and read their stories, too.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Wilder is trying to be boring and dull because 400 years ago he lost his friends hand in a battle with Santin the Siberian wolf. Santin is back for revenge and being imprisoned for all that helped him not to be fooled again. Jenny had just dropped Wilder off when he was attacked but when she got home she had a man come to door and introduce himself as Gunnar. Gunnar seems to know that Wilder is in trouble and he and Jenny go to him but Santin takes off and almost hurts a mother and child. When they meet up with the group Wilder was trying to stay away from called the brotherhood they decide Jenny is going to be the missing brother. As Wilder and Jenny feel the pull of attraction they try to set it aside until the battle is fought. Good story but it left you wondering...

This is a nice start to this werewolf series. (Arctic Brotherhood). The Arctic Brotherhood started 400 years ago when they were captured and imprisoned by a wolf that held them captive and tortured them. When they used the last of their strength and courage to revolt and imprison him the Brotherhood vowed to keep the world safe from the Siberian terror. Now he is loose and threatening humankind. Elliot is reluctant to leave his safe and obscure life in Alaska but Jenny is a powerful incentive. This is a fast moving and sexy read. The characters are very likable and will encourage you to return to the series.
