A great poetry book. I loved how it was a story about a family going on a family vacation. This book could be a great book for students of 3rd and 4th grade to read while learning about poetry. I loved how the poetry wasn't over done, there was a good amount of rhyming words but not all of the poems were consumed with rhyming (which is a great way to introduce to students that not all poems rhyme). I also really admired the illustrations in this book because they would give the reader a lot to look at while reading the short poems. I really enjoyed this book.
A really cute book about a family road trip across the country to visit the grandparents. Along the way, they stop and see some of the attractions and play traditional road trip games like "I Spy." Could be read to a class upon returning from a break or in preparation for a break. I could use this in a classroom to help students learn where different states, cities, countries, and attractions are around the world. This book could also be used in an "introduction to me" type thing because my family road trips are a lot like what is portrayed in this book.
Road Trip is such a fun poetry book. It would be fun to read to your class or to your our children before a vacation. It's about a family that is taking a road trip to their family reunion and if you ask me it is way to familiar to any old trip I have took with my family. I may not have it in my classroom but I hope where ever I am teaching once I complete school that there is access to it.
A young lad shares his adventures on a road trip with his family to visit their grandmother, and other family members at a reunion. Along the way the family enjoys the pleasures of seeing sights during the two day drive to their destination. A fun read a loud book in the house, or in the car while on the road. Several activities to do while in the car are mentioned throughout the pages.
I would give this a 3.5. Covers everything you encounter on a road trip - from bugs squishing the windshield, to songs you sing, farms you pass, dealing with boredom, and odd attractions - in rhyme.
It's made up of poems. Poems all related to road trips. I think these could be quite relatable to children and maybe you could even use this as an assignment for students that are missing school for trips: have them write poetry about so many things that they went through on the trip.
A fine children's book about an old-fashioned summer car trip. A delight to both beginning readers and adults with colorful and entertaining illustrations.
