Ex-Texas Ranger, newly minted U.S. Marshal Morgan Kane has his first assignment. The train companies in Kansas and Missouri had been hit hard for six months, a million and a half taken. Particularly brutal, dozens had been killed and dynamite was a favorite weapon, derailing their targets.

No one had a clue.

Kane soon suspicions a traveling circus owner. Sharpshooter Miles Rudyard seemed to have way to much money for a small circus owner. Kane took him for sixteen thousand in poker. Another fellow got sixty thousand off him before.

But he had no proof.

So he came up with a plan: set a trap and smoke him out.
