3 NOTHING SPECIAL STARS
"The urge to throw her over my shoulder and carry her off is unbearable. I'm becoming a fucking caveman in the middle of a downtown shopping mall. I just want to keep her with me. Keep those eyes fixed to me until they fill with the kind of adoration I have no doubt she's capable of."
When I read these thoughts in the hero head when he sees the heroine for the first time, I was thinking THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD!
And then he thinks this
"I need to fuck this girl so hard but equally I need to keep her with me. I want to know her and share each day."
and I am a completely convinced this is going to be the BEST BOOK EVER!
Especially given the fact that she is completely gone over him as well.
Sadly, it was not! The idea of the story and the reality of it are two different things.
The hero and heroine have to keep their relationship a secret, ahhh why?!
Honestly, she is over 18 and yes he is old enough to be her dad but she has had boyfriends in the past and some that have come home with her from college, SO WHAT IS THE MAJOR DEAL!?
His father and the hero are NOT FRIENDS and the whole thing was just lame!
Also, the sex scene were done very poorly. It's like sexual frustration to the max. Just when we get the good stuff it's the day after.

So there are blowjobs, hand jobs, and past recollections of intimacy and one almost two somewhat good scene and that's it.
I am explaining it poorly I know. Maybe I'll use an analogy, it's like when someone makes a shocking declaration and you want to see how they will react but their face is hidden from you.
It just felt off and I didn't connect with either the hero or heroine.
It was all very ordinary to me.
It wasn't bad just wasn't what the blurb said it would be.
Safety: is perfect without any issues nothing. It was all very desert island feeling with just them and a few characters there to add some action and drama.

I really liked it!
Great short story! The heroine, Carina, is in love with an older man who happens to have gone to college with her dad, mom and stepmom. But her dad and Jared were never really friends. They were on the college football team together and apparently her dad was jealous of Jared.
I thought the plot was really good even for such a short story!

Absolutely amazing on line romance that I bought for about ninety nine cents!
It's so rare that I read a whole book on line and love it. There were so many wonderful things that grabbed me, that you just don't see in main stream print romance.
The heroine, Carina, came across as VERY young -- barely out of her teens -- but she was strong enough to go for what she really wanted and absolutely OWNED her intense, out of control craving for Jared, the rich and incredibly gorgeous older man, (who used to play football with her father.)
I loved the way Carina and Jared fall for each other at first sight, but both are too sweet and responsible to want to shock her family all at once. There was just something so cozy about how they run into each other Christmas shopping, and how Carina's stepmom Mellie (NOT a wicked stepmom stereotype, she's thoughtful and understanding all the way through) goes out of her way to invite Jared over for a visit. The lusting that Carina does for Jared, and vice versa, while they are peeking at each other in the crowded clothing store was just so cute and at the same time so hot!
Once the affair gets started, I loved the skiing adventure and all the time Jared and Carina spend getting to know each other really, really intimately. I loved how the super hot sex never prevented them from liking each other and enjoying each other as people.
Did I have any dislikes at all about this short story? Yes, but they were all minor issues of style. It drove me nuts the way ex-football hero Jared had to drop the f-bomb every few paragraphs just to remind us that he's a guy. "F--- he had to have her. F--- he was hard. F--- she had a hot body." That kind of talk you can hear in any 8th grade locker room, (or in the White House) so it doesn't do much in my eyes to build up the hero. On the other hand, whenever Jared is feeling tender he insists on calling Carina "Darlin'" over and over. (Dropping the G makes him more manly?) It really irritated me, like a nervous twitch or something. Oh, and I'm a 40 year Beach Boys fan, and I would only have put up with the "Darlin" nonsense if he had started belting it out Carl Wilson style. "Oh, d-d-d-d darling it's true, my darling you're so fine/Love the way you soften my life with your love, your precious love, oh, oh, darling -- da da da da da da -- da da!")
Now I recommend this incredible book to all my Goodreads friends, but I must end this review with a question. Eric Cartman once asked, "Who is the Coon?" But I ask, "Who is Mia Madison?" Seriously, does anybody know? Is she one woman? A team of women? Is she a computer that spins out stories like this every five minutes? All the evidence I can find on the internet suggests that there is no real human presence behind the books published under her name. But whoever (or whatever) writes them, they are sensational!

I think this was my favorite Mia Madison book so far, I loved Jared Helmsley ! Carina grew up in Colorado but moved to Boston for college and has stayed there to work. She's home for the holidays and at the mall with her stepmother, Mellie. Her Dad married Mellie when Carina was 12, they were college sweethearts. When Carina sees a hot older guy shopping she can't help staring at him and he also seems to be watching her. Until Mellie recognizes Jared as one of her college classmates. He played football with her Dad and the two of them were rivals. Her Dad doesn't like Jared because of a misunderstanding and he's jealous that Jared was drafted by the NFL (49ers). Jared went pro but got hurt so now he has several different business ventures. Carina runs into Jared at his hotel and they start a hot and heavy affair.

Carina is out doing some last minute Christmas gift shopping with her step-mom, when she notices a handsome older man staring at her. They continue to steal glances at each other and he stays nearby while the women shop. All of a sudden, Carina’s step-mom looks up and recognizes the man as an old college teammate of Carina’s dad. Her step-mom is blushing and acting strangely around Jared, but Jared only has eyes for the beautiful, young Carina.
Carina goes home after shopping to find out that her dad doesn’t have many nice things to say about Jared. Jared ended up being the college nemesis of her dad, who had a career ending football injury during college, while Jared was drafted to the NFL for a life of fame and fortune.
Jared politely declines an invite to dinner at Carina’s home with her parents. Although he can’t stop thinking about her, he knows that with their age difference, pursuing her would be frowned upon, so he decides to keep his distance. Carina has other plans however.

Very intense, this story is written with vibrant words and a double POV that pulses with strong emotions. An older man/young woman romance that's really conquered me because Jared has a magnetic presence and her reaction towards meeting him over a pile of sweaters at a shop is one of pure fascination.
Not only is he her father's age, but there's a past between those men. That adds some dark shadows over what seems a bit of an illicit relationship. What I liked the most is that he shows such an intense adoration for her, he courts her and treats her wonderfully. She melts for him in and out of the bedroom. i admit that the intimate scenes were heart-poundingly sensual, yet a couple of times at first they stopped right before the final fireworks. They skipped that part. That was disorienting.
However, their times together and plentiful and enjoyable to the max. That little problem was fixed later on ;-)
Towards the end of the story, they encounter some emotional burdens as she doubts they have a chance for the future and the past threatens to overwhelm their very intense chemistry.
I indulged my reading sweet tooth with this little insta-love because it's got a charismatic and experienced male character, an eager young woman, lots of love scenes and a luxurious, sugar-drenched ending that made me smile with contentment.

Dad's billionaire buddy was the first book that I have read by Mia Madison. I must say I did enjoy her writing! Even though it was 133 pages the story felt much longer it had good depth and a good plot. The characters were also developed nicely. Strong female leads are a MUST for me and Carina passed the test! She was independent, flirty and kept you in your toes. Jared was absolutely swoon worthy! He had me melting along with Carina from the page she laid eyes on him! He was 100% pure alpha dominance! This was my first older man story and i absolutely loved it! Age diffence is not a problem for me and it only heightened this book! And it certainly doesn't disappoint in steam! This book was HOT and definitely had my fanning myself more than once! Definitely a quick, sexy, and fun read! I look forward to reading more work by Mia!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is my first book by Mia Madison and I must say I really enjoyed it. It was a great quick read about an older man Jarred and a younger woman, Carina. Jarred is an old class/teammate of Carina's father from college. They meet while Carina is shopping with her stepmother and the two are instantly drawn to each other. Jarred is invited to dinner but doesn't go. He tries to stay away from Carina. They end up meeting at a bar when Carina and her friends go after a day of shopping. They end up seeing each other in secret and eventually let Carina's parents know of their love for one another. This story was great with a great HEA.

Jared meets his college buddy's daughter in a store and finds her HOT! He's lucky that Carina finds him also HOT and not a dirty old man, as he's over twice her age. The sex is off the charts H-O-T but the writing is inconsistent. Carina is whiny and acts like a child instead of a woman who is dating an older man. But Jared takes it all in stride as he finds himself falling in love with her. Their affair all comes to a screaming hault, though, when Carina's dad finds out.

I've read all of Mia Madison's books and I've loved them all... until this one. I wanted to like it because I like her as an author, but I couldn't. First, it took me a while to even get into the book. Where normally I zip through her books, I kept stopping and starting this one. I think what did it for me (or rather, didn't do it for me), were the characters. Second, there are noticeable grammar and spelling mistakes. That may be fixed when the book goes live, so don't base whether you read the book or not, on that.
Carina is out shopping with her step-mom when she meets a steamy older man, Jared. She waxes on about how hot he is and how much she wants him to take her, and then she finds out that he went to college with her dad and step-mom. Her step-mom invites him to dinner and he declines but tells her the name of the hotel he's staying at while he's in town. Carina, who can't stop thinking about the hot man she met, is out shopping with her friends later and when one of them suggests getting a drink, she mentions the hotel Jared is at. That seemed a little stalkerish to me. They meet for drinks, they're hot for each other, they date, they have sex, throw in a few minor plot devices, and they live happily ever after.
Carina, to me, was rather whiny. She wanted him, regardless of the age difference, then his age mattered. Then it didn't, then it did. I wanted to yell at her and tell her to make up her mind. With Jared, he didn't sound like a 40-something man. I would have believed that he was a college guy, closer to Carina's age, but not an 'alpha' in his mid to late 40s.
Then we have the sex. The scenes weren't gratuitous by any means. I actually found them to be lacking. The foreplay was briefly discussed, then once the penetration began, the scene is over. The worst part for me, was when Jared gets her off for the first time, and Carina thinks that she peed. Um... okay. She's not a virgin, so have none of the other guys she's been with given her an orgasm? For that matter, has she never brought herself to one? I found myself rolling my eyes and wanting to stop reading. However, I pushed on and finished the book, and it was just okay.
Would I recommend the book? Not if you haven't read a Mia Madison book before. Any of her other ones are significantly better, and if you start with this one, I don't know that you'll give her other ones a chance.

From the first Chapter, I was hooked. The explosive chemistry between Carina and Jared was hot, hot, hot! Carina Wallis is home for the holiday’s visiting her family. During a shopping trip with her step-mother Mellie, she locks eyes with an attractive older man who makes her heart race with just one glance. Color her surprised when Millie starts talking to him!!! Turns out he's a college friend of hers and her father's nemesis. Despite all that, she can't resist the magnetic pull between them…. so why not have some fun while she's in town? Its still not easy realizing the only man she’s ever felt such a ferocious attraction to, is out of her reach. Soon she'll have to head back to real life on the East coast. Him to the West.
Jared Helmsley is dumbstruck to find the sultry woman he can't keep his eyes off of is his college buddy's daughter. He attempts to stay away but he finds he can't. From the first Chapter, I was hooked. The explosive chemistry between Carina and Jared was hot, hot, hot! Carina Wallis is home for the holiday’s visiting her family. During a shopping trip with her step-mother Mellie, she locks eyes with an attractive older man who makes her heart race with just one glance. Color her surprised when Millie starts talking to him!!! A quick sexy read
I think Ms. Madison is the queen of older man/younger woman sexy hot reads. Her novellas pack a punch with plenty of steam, well developed characters, and a nice slow anticipation to roiling romance, that is, oh so, satisfying. Dad’s Billionaire Buddy is a novella-length story that does not disappoint and it definitely delivers the goods. As an ex-NFL player, Jared still has the hard body and tone of his earlier years as a pro-athlete. Just Carina’s luck the gorgeous man she spies across the department store counter giving her the ‘interested’ look happens to be an old schoolmate of her father and stepmother. It is quite the plot how Carina and Jared work around her parents while she’s at home for the holidays. Will this holiday affair just be a fling, or will Jared be the man Carina has been waiting for all her life? You’ll fall in love with Jared and Carina’s story.

I enjoyed this short story but I will admit that Carina annoyed me when she acted slightly immature and was determined to keep Jared a secret despite her feelings for him. Dads billionaire buddy is a short story about a young girl and an older guy that happens to be her father’s enemy/old college teammate. This story is cute in parts, the storyline is easy to follow and the story is easy to devour.
Whilst doing some last minute shopping Carina meets a handsome older man that happens to have gone to college with her father and stepmother. A few days later Carina and her friends stop by Jared’s hotel and it isn’t long until Carina and Jared bump into one another. Finally alone together and sparks start to fly between the two of them. When Jared and Carina start a secret relationship together how will Carina’s father react to his daughter dating the guy he has hated for years?

I loved this sizzleing hot story about a young woman coming home for Christmas and her father's former college classmate who meet by random and fall for each other very fast! Carina and Jared fight both very hard against their mutual attraction but can't deny their feelings.

I simply enjoyed this book. The insta-lust, the alpha male, insecure but also knows what she wants younger woman. I enjoyed the jealousy, the angst, the drama! Recommended if not for the heat alone!
