NAH BRUH THE TITLE WASN'T LYING.
This book just taught me how to keep my shit together, like cats do.

You see, this sure is quite motivational and makes you want to be a better human being but as the theme says you're going to learn it the way the cats do it.

no wonder Jeon Wonwoo is a cat-
and i'm pretty sure minghao has read this too-

This is a mindfulness book focused around channelling your inner cat. It is cute and quirky and really fun. It has a whole heap of easy exercises you can do ranging from relaxation techniques to focusing strategies, all based on how cats live their lives and tackle challenges. Plus its full fun facts about our aloof friends and has adorable illustration of kitties doing their kitty thing.

The language is simple and the instructions are easy to follow, I can see this being useful for kids because its not at all daunting and it sends a very positive message.

This is not how I want to be remembered but one of my fave boys in the world donated this to a cat shelter auction and it turns out this is the Softest™ book in the world and I am crying. Also buying this for my best friend's birthday. Thank you, Jeon Wonwoo from K-Pop supergroup SEVENTEEN, I'm crying now.

Beautiful little book that makes you realise what a drastic impact ebooks have had on book design. This is just one of those sort of books you have to a physical copy of. Well, several, so you can hand them out to all of your friends. Full of quirky facts, anecdotes, beautiful illustrations, quotes, and even zen-type exercises and meditation lessons to allow you to get in touch with your inner cat. “We may think we have the upper hand, but that’s a misconception on our part. CATS ARE IN CHARGE.”

Absolutely gorgeous book full of funny cats sketches and nice decoration. It really can open our understanding of meaningful things in our quotidian life as enjoying every precious bit of our days is a joy and a gift -- yes, like cats do.
The book is structured in chapters each with one particular focus on a life aspect and they all end with some meditation tips or yoga-like simple exercises that you can do to feel more into this easy going state of mind. I enjoyed reading it and I'll definitely pass it to some friends, too.

This is such a cute mindfulness book!
5/5 ⭐️

I highly recommend this one for feline & animal friends, but really everyone, as it features adorable illustrations of kittens as well as interesting facts about feline history, cattish anecdotes & quotes.

In addition to that the book focuses on exploring & explaining how to channel ’your inner cat’ by suggesting relaxation techniques as well as other mindfulness exercises. All of them are super easy to do at home.

This for sure makes a great gift! One that even gets approved by your feline friends 🐈

The illustrations are very cute.  A little silly, and nothing really new but it never hurts to have a reminder to add some affirmations and basic grounding exercises to my daily life.

Be More Cat is a self-help book with the premise being that we should live our lives more like our furry life coaches, the cat. This book revolves around 9 traits common to our kitty companions that Davies argues we should emulate in our own lives.

I waffled a bit on the number of stars to give. I wish I could give a 3.5, but I'll round it up to 4 because cats.

Since it's such a short book, there isn't much to talk about, so I'll give the highlights version of what worked and what didn't.

The Traits: Davies wants us to learn from our cats and "Be More Cat." To do this, we need to emulate their traits, such as mindfulness (meditating in our case, staring at a wall for hours on end for no apparent reason in the cat's) and self-care (cat naps and listening to our bodies, in both ours and the cat's cases). These traits are pretty solid and emulating them would probably help people, especially the stressed out.

The Art: Be More Cat is full of adorable little pictures of cats being cats. If nothing else, the book is worth a look-through for the cute artwork.

Random Trivia: Fun, but didn't always fit in well where it was placed. It didn't break the flow of the writing, but it didn't really add much but for a fun mythology reference or an interesting tidbit.

The Exercises: They're all pretty much some form of meditation and yoga. Not bad for you, but I felt like I read the same exercise over and over again for a couple of the sections. Stretching is always good. Breathing exercises, especially when stressed, are always good. Jumping up and down like a little kid might be good. I reserve judgment on that last one.

The Tips: A separate section from Exercises, "tips" included advice ranging from the good (changing up your routine so that you're more used to change) to possibly helpful, if that kind of thing works for you (positive affirmations before bed to help you get to sleep a'la meditation, story boarding your problems to get a plan together) to total hokum (cat's eye and dragon's eye stones are rocks, they do nothing magical).

As a self-help book, it's not really presenting any new information. You'll find lots of books out there promoting meditation or exercise or positive affirmations to improve your mood and lower your stress levels. The difference here is the packaging. It's cats. Cats accompanied by cute pictures of cats. It's also really short and gives advice without taking the time to explain why yoga or meditation is good for you beyond "it works for cats, why not you?" For people who really want to know why something works, Be More Cat probably won't work. For those who already know why something works or really just wants a guide to feeling good without the psychology behind it, this works just fine.

It's a little book to remind you that your life should be about you. Well, it's about your cat first. Then about you.

Its got spirit but a lot of it feels like nonsense. Fun to read, I suppose, but I enjoyed the illustrations endlessly more than the text.

"What greater gift than the love of a cat". Charles Dickens

I think that for a small-sized book, this is full of information. I thought it might be just a humorous book to read, but it was so much more than that. It contains 9 chapters that are truly instructional; "Catfulness, Kist-ability, Cattitude, Catted Determination, Cat naps rule, Whisker Wisdom, Find Perfection, Fur of the moment fun, and Meow power".
Each chapter has information about how that it relates to people, cats, and in some cases, history. There are also "exercises" to do that are for those reading the book, as well as "be more cat-tips'. The book is really a guide on how we can be like cats in so many ways. They all make sense and should become part of us in our lives.

"When we surround ourselves with images of our furry friends, we're reminded of their individuality and spirit, which in turn makes us more likely to adopt these qualities."

A simple meditation book from the perspective of cats. Given my recent love for cats, my eye was drawn to the book cover with the lovely illustrations of cats. The insides of the pages didn't disappoint either with cat/life quotes, simple breathing/meditation techniques, positive thinking and how to leverage on 'cat attitude' and 'cat skills' to take charge of your life.

It was a quick read but I held on to the book a tad longer by re-reading its quotes and copying its illustrations in my notebook. A good gift for any cat lover.

An introduction to mindfulness book with sometimes hamfisted analogies to cats, sometimes stretching it a bit too far. But 5 stars for the absolutely wonderful illustrations by Marion Lindsay.
A decent intro to mindfulness with a smattering of nice and simple relaxation or positive movement exercises - with some anecdotes about cats in literature and a smattering of woo. Definitely worth it for the illustrations. I want that blue cat wallpaper in my house.

A self help and mindfulness book based on cats.

It reads like any other book in the genre except it uses cats as an example for everything. It isn't bad that it does and the author does know her cats.

It is good at what it does and what it is. This would make a good gift for some cat lovers. It wasn't great for me and I probably won't take any advice from it but others definitely will.

If you like to meditate and use crystals and things like that this may be the book for you, but it wasn't for me.

There wasn't any proper ending and many of the more specific tips didn't connect to cats at all. Also, it was quite boring.

The aesthetic and organisation of the book did make it easy to read, though, so that's a plus.

Cute book with some fun tips. I’d take these tips lightly and the exercises are alright, not something to take super seriously.

A very light and easy read. I mostly enjoyed the tips and historical tidbits for each part and it’s sub-parts. Definitely a cat-lover’s book :)

This is a purrrfect book for relaxation, mindfulness, and seeing the world beyond what is expected of us to do. The tone of the book is also simple yet really encouraging, and this one had helped me in times when I lost balance of my life and needed grounding.

Nonfiction. Philosophy. Cat.

A short book with a history and study of cats. Includes exercises readers can use as inspiration from their feline friends along with advice.

It's cute. Some is more practical than others, but overall worth a quick read.
