Eli Waters has made his way back home from military school for one thing, and that is to claim Aria Dean. She’s one of his best friends, the girl who has been by his side through thick and thin.
A year without Eli was difficult for Aria. She missed his warmth, his smile, his playfulness. But though she’s loved him for a long time, it doesn’t matter. She knows she’s not his type. She’s not blonde, or thin, or beautiful. She is just plain Aria.
But now he’s back, and he’s different.
With help from their friends, Eli is determined to finally claim Aria. Laying his feelings on the table, he makes sure Aria knows the truth. He’s not going anywhere. He loves her, and from the moment they first met when they were three years old, they belonged together.
Can two young souls fight for their love, or will outside influences tear them apart?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
"She was his, and he’d been waiting for her for the past year. That was what kept him going, his memories of her, and the pictures he had of her."
This story starts off with our hero Eli coming back from military school. The whole time he was there, only one thought kept him going, the heroine Aria. Therefore, he comes back home to claim his girl. And he was not going to stop until the girl was his.
I JUST LOVED THIS WHOLE FREAKING STORY. It was sweet and passionate and just about the safest read by Sam Crescent. The hero, Eli was experienced and the heroine, Aria was a virgin but he waited for her to be ready before they made Love.
When he discovered his feeling for her were of a physical nature, he stopped sleeping around and he even explained it to her. “No, you’re not listening. I don’t give a shit about anyone else. You’re the only person I care about.. You’re the one that helped me to focus, that helped me get back here.” "We’re not matched.” "We’re matched. You’re just too busy listening to everyone else to see what is right in front of you.” “What is right in front of me?” Eli knew it was now or never. Stepping right up close to her, he cupped her face, and tilted her head back. “Me.”
It even had an EPIC EPILOGUE 15 years later. How much more perfect could it get. They had an awesome group of couple friends, that I really enjoyed. Such amazing secondary characters! This book had it all.
I know what you're thinking here! So Chantal why not 5 full stars!? Well, it's the whole story feel for me here. The young adult read was extremely tame and it did nothing for me emotionally. They have a lifetime connection and they have a shared past, so YAY. Just for me, it was just so too tame. There was just two sex scenes and they are NOT that amazing. So the story was good but the whole thing was a little dull. It was a little cheesy read but enjoyable.
Now the hard stuff, would I recommend it? Yes and no. Yes, for those who enjoy a mild romance with the young adult vibe. But, it's a big NO to those looking for a passionate page turner.
The great news is that it's completely safe. There is no drama (but it's tried) no cheating (they are 100% committed) he has been celibate for over a year since discovering his feelings for her and he has always used condoms. Even with her here guys!
While this has most of the elements we've come to expect from a Sam Crescent book (a plus size innocent shy girl and a more experienced male) it's different in the respect that the main characters are the same age. It's also different that the majority of the book takes place in high school. Eli and Aria have been friends for fifteen years and along with Rachel, Mary, Branson, and Chris they are a unit.
After a year at military school after being expelled from school Eli is back and his time away has taught him one thing. He wants Aria. Aria missed Eli while he was gone, now he's back and he seems different. This is more than a boy wants girl who wants him back romance. Aria's father is determined to marry her off to further his business and Aria can't believe who he's chosen for her.
“To Claim His Girl” is the story of Aria and Eli. Basically, this is a YA novel about a curvy girl and a jock who loves her. Based in a high school setting with all the teen movie stereotypes, the h and H are part of a 6 people gang, 2 of whom are couples with each other. As the hero is sent off to military school for beating up the bad boy, he later returns to claim his girl and that forms the story. They face opposition from her family, the mean cheerleaders all of whom hero has fucked before, the shitty bad boy who fat shamed the heroine and support from the friends. Honestly I tried to like this one-but I’m not a huge fan of YA erotica unless it’s well done. Promises made during high school don’t feel permanent- and especially when hero had feelings for h and yet was screwing half the female population. It also doesn’t have enough angst/ sex for me to fall for it, and heavily relies on typical teen drama- like an episode of the OC. This just didn’t work for me. Unsafe 1/5
1 - these were high school kids. I don't mind YA/NA but can they please be out of high school? Two of the three couples were married and had kids or had a kid on the way before they graduated.
2 - the heroine was well aware and had first hand knowledge of the hero's past hook ups. Seriously, she even participated in helping the H ditch the OW sometimes. Then once the Hero returned he was there to see some of those past hook-ups flirt with him..
3 - the only time the hero was celibate was when he was in military school. I'm assuming it was an all male military school so its not like there were OW around. Yes, it was said that he became celibate after he realized he had feelings for the h but I would have put more weight into his "love" for the h if there had been opportunities for him to hook up with OW and he turned them down because of his feelings for the h.
4 - 14 yrs old!! The Hero lost his virginity at 14 to the nanny/maid or something like that. AND they hooked up for 6 months and she taught him stuff?? TMI
Fuck no, this asshole needs to buy a one-way ticket to hoetown and never show his face to the sweet angel that our Aria is.
MCs childhood friends. H has always been in love with her. She is a plus-sized woman who often gets fat-shamed. H has fucked around OW while harbouring feelings for Aria. Aria is a virgin. Book starts from when he return from 1-year military school, ready to confess Aria that he aint a hoe-no-mo.
For now I've rounded down - it was OK, not the best Sam Crescent, but not the worst, around 2.35, maybe. I like Sam Crescent, they're easy reads, easy romance, quick hits like a mini-bag of haribo's and like haribo's I find them hit and miss - some I like (fizzy cola), some I don't (fried eggs) and some are just meh (green bears). This was kinda meh. The exposition was occasionally clunky and the varied premises weak - the "kids" sounded nothing like and I don't know much about American high schools but very little of that rang true. A shame as others of her YA romances worked much better, so I was looking forward to this addition. I will of course continue to read Sam Crescent, because like haribo's you always hope the next bag will have more cola bottles and less fried eggs - and while I don't like the green bears, I don't dislike them either, so. . . .
I feel like I'm a little too old to fully enjoy this one. I couldn't really connect with the characters as much as I normally would. I guess it helped that they all seemed so much older than 17 and 18 year olds. I liked that they were such good friends for so long so it was an easy transition into love. Eli was so sweet and protective of Aria!!
While I gave it only two stars it wasn’t a bad story. It was a short sweet high school sweethearts romance.
My problem with it was that I felt absolutely no connection with the characters. They were children of wealthy parents and the one minor conflict was so stupid and outdated that I couldn’t take it seriously.
Also, I didn’t feel any real yearning from the female lead to be with the male lead. And I felt the male leads interest in her was immature and underdeveloped. I felt no passion, no angst for each other. I felt it was too bland.
In short, I was bored. Now, if you want a high school sweethearts delicious read you can read Jenika Snow’s “You’re Mine” series, “Say You’re Mine” and “You’ve Always Been Mine”. Those two books are on my permanent reread list. Whenever I want heartaching passion, commitment and heat, I read these. Enjoy!
SHORT BUT SO GOOD! Romantic story about two best friends who’s been in each other side since they were KIDS.
I love this whole story. There’s a great friendship between other people in this book which makes it more good to read in my opinion:) the friends they have in this book(the heroine&hero’s friends) are very close and they always got each other backs.
THE HEROINE is very sweet but not sassy....
THE HERO is very possessive protective alpha male to her and really wants the heroine SOOOOO BAD.... Always touching her even at first!
NO VIOLENCE NO CHEATING
NO BREAKUPS OR SEPARATION
There’s annoying b*tches but not too annoying...
THERE’S JEALOUS SCENE FROM THE HERO...
THE HERO always said MINE MINE MINE! Isn’t that hot :)
Aria and Eli, young loves on the cusp of adulthood find love and family with each other and their best friends. Can you meet the one you love in high school? Some do. Eli and Aria gave known each other since they were young. They and 4 others are the best of friends. Once Eli realizes his feelings fir Aria, he comes back home to claim his woman. He won't let her father, his father, or even Aria stop him from greeting what's wants...her.
Great story..love story..for a minute I thought it essential a young adult book, but even without the graphic sex in SAMs normal books, this was great book.
The writing of Ms. Crescent is thoroughly engaging and the characters come to life. I enjoy the alpha in Eli and the sweetness of the clueless Aria, while envying the closeness of a group of young adults who have built a close family unit since they were young. The storyline moves at a pleasant pace and I found myself wishing for more even though the ending was thoroughly satisfying. I highly recommend the writing of Ms. Crescent and the story of Eli and Aria. Delane Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More Official Review @ Coffee Time Romance & More
Eli has known in his heart is love for Ari his best friend since kindergarten. After a year sent away to military school he returns to tell her and claim her for himself. Ari knowing she has loved Eli since childhood, she allows herself to love him. Great side story with all their friends. Enjoyed this book, short but, sweet
Everyone is constantly telling the heroine that she's not fat, when she says she is. Fat is not a bad word. It's okay to be fat. Simply having a curvy heroine is not enough, especially if everyone is marginalizing her by saying, "you're not fat, you're just (fill in the blank)".
This didnt have the same excited anticipation or seduction that this author is commonly known for. There was no spark. The guy was alpha, but it just lacked. Maybe it was just me???
Yet another great book by Sam Crescent!! Sam is one very talented lady!! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!! A definite must read!! Happy Reading!! :)
