I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the second book in K Langston's Brothers In Blue Series. A series that revolves around six brothers who all carry a different badge of the law. This is Reid and Cassidy's story.

Reid Cunningham is a LAPD Detective who is hiding the pain of a huge loss of his best friend. He makes no time to feel or love. He's just dedicated to his job. But when the past comes knocking at his door, he is forced to face his deepest and darkest fear.....Cassidy. She's in danger and in need of Reid's protection. She's his best friends little sister. The one Reid promised to watch over and keep safe. He just never planned in giving her his heart or his trust.

Holy cow this book blew me away. I've been a huge K Langston fan since she started her Mine series. The Detective's Trust blew me away and in my opinion is some of K Langston's best writing to date. I could literally feel parts of the story. While it has its steamy moments it wasn't so much the steam they got me but the way it's written with such beauty you couldn't help but feel like you were falling in love right with Reid and Cassidy. A story of the little sister that was always around because he was her brothers best friend and how they fall in love is just absolutely amazing. I love Reid and Cassidy. Their both great characters with a shared loss and a strong desire for each other. The story too kept me turning the pages like a woman possessed and at times had my heart in my throat.

You do not want to miss this book. I've read every single book K Langston has ever written but this has to be my absolute favorite one. Don't miss it. I'm also exited to learn tuts Sylvie is coming in February. That's so exciting to me since its been several years since she first started giving little snippets into this story.

I have always adored K's books. There is something about her alpha men and her writing that just draws you in and makes you feel the emotions and see the book play in your mind like a movie. I have always felt that Until Your Mine (book 2 of the Mine series) was her best book. Archer grasp me and drew me in more than any other of her characters.... that is until Reid.

I was blessed to have had the chance to read this book last night and I can't express just how much it drew me in. So much so that I stayed up until the early hours reading even though I had to get up early for a doctor appointment. I don't regret the loss of sleep either. Reid is a hot alpha male that fights his inner battles on if he should finally act on his feelings for Cass. I love how the author described his inner struggle with needing her yet needing to keep her safe at all times. The twist in the book keep me in suspense to know what was going to happen. I can't recommend this book enough. If you haven't ever read one of her books this is one you MUST read. You don't have to read the first book to understand what is going on but I suggest it since the characters in that book are mentioned in this one.

I will admit I'm jealous that he is already claimed by her Hooch, KC... but I'm claiming Reid's brother Benson... that man makes me swoon with just the few words he said in this book.

I wont go into much more detail because I don't like writing spoilers... but the plot and characters are really developed well. Thanks for an amazing read and sneak peek <3

3 Cassidy and Reid Stars

This is the second in the Brothers In Blue Series. I really enjoyed the first one but this one didn't match it in my opinion. I liked it but it took me a while to warm up to both Cassidy and Reid but once I got into it I thought it was good. It felt much darker than the first one too. Tense drama, some angst and the best friend's little sister trope plus some really HOT chemistry.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Another arresting Brothers In Blue hit from Langston! This time we get Reid’s story (who works with the LAPD), and best friend’s sister, Cassidy. I LOVE Langston’s leading men. A little bit dirty-talking alpha with those sweet insides that will melt your core. But it’s the emotional element that gets me every single time. Langston knows how to bring the heat and the romance. You NEED to read these books!

5 Stars!

5 Stars!

K. Langston is a fairly new author for me but boy did she grab me with the first book in this series, The Officer's Promise. Full of steam, passion and suspense, this series is off the a killer start and I for one cannot wait to see where Langston takes us.

The Detective's Trust is the second book in the Brothers in Blue series. Standalone books surrounding six brothers, each in a different branch of law enforcement, this series is packed with heat, romance, and action with gripping storylines and edge of the seat twisted suspense that will keep you glued to your kindle long after the story is over. Much like the first, get ready to swoon and fall for another Cunningham.

He's the guy who has always held her heart, even if he didn't know it.
She is his best friend's little sister... completely and totally off limits.
He's always had feelings for her but they were never told.
Now she is in trouble and at his door. He will do anything to keep her safe.
Lines will be drawn. Boundaries will be crossed. Hearts will be on the line.

Reid and Cassidy are going to light up your e-reader and make you squirm in you seat. The heat that came from this book was intense. The chemistry between these two was undeniable and inescapable. Watching them give into their desires was captivating and seeing them open their hearts to love was beautiful.

I cannot wait for the next in this series. This is one I highly recommend.

We briefly met Cassidy and Reid in The Officer's Promise (the first book in the Brothers in Blue series). When Cassidy receives a package on her birthday, containing a chain that belonged to her late brother, along with an ominous note saying "I'm coming for you", she knows she needs help. And she knows the only person she can go to for help is someone she hasn't seen for a good few years...Reid.

The last time Reid saw Cassidy was at her high school graduation, five years ago. So when she shows up on his doorstep unexpectedly, he's a little surprised. He feels the pull toward her, but guilt and the friendship he had with her brother keeps him fighting the attraction.

When the couple finally give in to their attraction to each other it's SO DAMN HOT!! Reid was very dominant in bed and he had a very dirty mouth. I'll be honest, it turned me on and made me a bit flustered...

This was another great read by K. Langston. I can't wait to read about the other brothers in this series. I'm really intrigued by Justin's story.

At 21, Reid Cunningham and best friend Bodie Sky had it all going for them. Bodie riding the crest of the wave at the top of the international surfing scene and Reid not all that far behind him, basking in the peace the sea had to offer and the camaraderie found amid the surfing culture, things couldn't get better until Bodie's mom took ill, and quickly passed leaving him with a 16 year old sister to look after.

Too quickly things crumbled, leaving Reid doing his best to save his best friend from the clutches of the drugs he'd turned to in his grief, all the while fighting the sudden awareness that Bodie's little sister Cassidy isn't so little anymore.

Then, tragedy.

Years later, after no contact between Reid and Cassidy other than the yearly birthday card, suddenly, immediately, she needs him once more. Not only because there's a threat against her life and he's now a detective for the LAPD, but also because he's the only person left living that she trusts, even if he may never return the affections she's harbored for him since she was a teen.

Crossing over, momentarily with events from the first novel in the series, The Officer's Promise, this tale is nevertheless a true standalone. So far as continuity goes, apart from the prologue it begins days before the conclusion of it's predecessor and continues on after, but could easily be read completely separate without affecting the story.

Unrequited affections, and lust sizzle across the pages as Reid and Cassidy traipse across the country seeking to get just one step further ahead than whoever it is that's pulling the strings in the the cat and mouse game they're caught up in.

Each location change leading to new characters which lead to new plot twists and the cycle continues right up to the stunning conclusion, though for all of that, I found it a comfortable, easy read.

I wonder which of the Cunningham brothers is up next?

“I’d noticed the way she looked at me sometimes, when she thought I wasn’t paying attention. Much like the way she was looking at me now. With the need and want of a woman, not a little girl. And I’d never felt anything but a brotherly love for her in return. Until now. Until this very moment.”

Reid and Cassidy have known each other for a long time. Reid was best friends with Bodie, Cassidy’s older brother. The boys spend much time together, and Cassidy was always around. But while Cassidy developed a sweet, innocent crush on Reid, he kept her firmly in the ‘best friend’s little sister’ category. When Bodie dies, everything changes. Reid leaves and Cassidy is left behind to deal with her grief by herself. Five years later, Cassidy gets a message from a ghost of the past, and even though he left, she runs to Reid for help.
“Reid. My throat burned as tears pricked my eyes, thinking about the man who still owned my heart. The man who had staked claim to it without even knowing.”

Reid has always thought of Cassidy like a little sister. Well, that’s not totally true. During her teenage years, Reid has seen Cassidy change from a little girl into a beautiful 16-year-old. A pretty girl he shouldn’t have feelings for. Even after he sees her after five years, and Bodie is dead and gone, Reid still feels like he can’t go there. Cassidy has had feelings for Reid for a long time, and she knows he will help her with the problem of the past. Since this is a romance book, Cassidy and Reid dance around each other for a bit, but that they will happen is inevitable. The couple has a serious issue to deal with, not between the two of them, but outside forces create a lot of drama.

I’m not very familiar with K. Langston and her writing (I did read Unlawful Justice she co-wrote with K.C. Lynn), but I really enjoyed The Detective’s Trust. I like the author’s writing style and the way she writes her characters. Yes, I’ve read numerous stories about ‘falling for the sibling’s best friend’, but the story of Reid and Cassidy as a whole keeps this book interesting. Since this is only the second book in ‘the Brothers in Blue series’, I’m curious for the future books.
“I’ll take care of you, Gidge. We’ll have a good life, trust me.” I held him close and had no doubt that our life was going to be better than good. As long as we had each other, we had everything.”

I’ve enjoyed reading The Detective’s Trust, I give this story 4 stars.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC copy of this book and boy am I glad! We get a quick glance at Reid and Cassidy in The Officer's Promise and just from that I couldn't wait for their story.

After a heartbreaking tragedy Reid and Cassidy are separated for 7 years. Just enough time for Cassidy to go from his best friend's little sister to something way more. These two have instant chemistry. I love how she pushes him into realizing they can be more. And may I say Reid is hot! I love me some Reid. I might take up surfing just for him. Fast forward to almost the end of the book and you get a huge twist. Like omg I didn't see that one coming!

Another great one by my girl K Langston. I cannot wait for the next Brother in Blue

***ARC PROVIDED BY AUTHOR IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***

After just finishing the first book in the ‘Brother’s In Blue’ series I was thrilled that I was able to jump right into the second book in the series. ‘The Detective’s Trust’ by K. Langston revolves around a different Cunningham brother that I fell in love with as much as the last one. This is another five star read for me.

Reid Cunningham is a brooding sexy male that is a member of the LAPD. Like the rest of his family he is completely dedicated to his job on the police force and has little time for distractions but when someone he has promised to protect and watch over comes knocking on his door he is in for a lifetime of distractions.

Cassidy is the little sister of Reid’s best friend and she needs his help. After being threatened there is only one person that Cassidy can turn to and it is to the man that she has loved for years even if he never knew it.

Reid and Cassidy are a story of forbidden love in the sense that it’s the brother’s best friend/little sister that have feelings for each other for years but each is convinced that the their love is unrequited and/or that it is wrong to have those feelings. However Cassidy and Reid are so right for each other and their chemistry if on fire. Guilt and denial are some of the emotions that stand in their way. That along with the danger that Cassidy needs to be protected from are what keep you engrossed right until the end.

As I said earlier this is book two in the series and although this and I am assuming all the books to come can be read as standalones I just don’t see why you wouldn’t want to read them all and get know all the amazing Cunningham men. Another quick and gripping read that I whole heartedly recommend.

I was lucky enough to get a chance to read this book a little early. I love all of K. Langstons books and I must say this has been a book I've been waiting on for months! Let me tell you... it did NOT disappoint!! I fell head over heels in love with Reid and Cassidy from the very beginning. Cassidy has easily just coasted to my top favorite female character in any of K Langstons books. I laughed, cried and swooned through out this whole story! By far this is my favorite K Langston book... I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!! Thanks again for another fantastic story!

Hot Cop 4****

Reid Cunningham is a LAPD detective who is married to his job. A tragic event seven years before have shaped his life. He was unable to save his best friend Bodie from the grips of drug addiction and ultimately his death. He never stops long enough to feel and has no time for attachments or relationships.

Cassidy Sky shares the tragic event with Reid. She is Bodie's little sister and had known Reid for a long time. The last time she saw Reid was on her H.S. Graduation, and she gets a yearly birthday card from him. It's one of the things that Cassie looks forward to every year. She always had a crush on Reid, but she knows he only saw her as his best friends little sister. On her 23rd birthday, she not only receives the birthday card from Reid, but she also gets a threatening package. With no one else to turn to, there is only one place she can think of going.

Reid is shocked to find Cassidy on his doorstep. There is no doubt in his mind that he will keep her safe, after all this was a promise he made to Bodie. Not only that, he also feels guilt that he didn't do more for her after the death of her brother. He also can't help the attraction he feels for her, an attractions he has felt for a long time, but he will make her safe and send her back to her life.

This was a great read with suspense, mystery, surprising twists, and the very hot relationship between Reid and Cassie. He puts up a good fight against his feelings. His deep feelings of guilt and the fact that Cassie is his best friends little sister is a big hurdle for him. Cassie on the other hand will not make it easy for him.

"I'll take care of you, Gidge. We'll have a good life, trust me."

5 stars for Detective's Trust - the second book in the Brother's In Blue series. While this is the second book in the series it can be read as a complete stand-alone as each book features one of the Cunningham brothers and does have a HEA. Author K. Langston's work is new-to-me, but I can safely say she is someone I will definitely read more from in the future since this book is one I could NOT put down. This book has something for everyone with mystery, angst filled romance and danger lurking all around. Do yourself a favor and pick up book one - The Officer's Promise - too!
Cassidy Sky was sixteen-years-old when she saw her best friend and older brother Bodie murdered. Now seven years later the man she testified against is released from prison and is out to get her for sending him away. The only person Cassidy can trust is her brother's best friend - Reid. He is also the only man she has ever loved, but she is going to keep that last part to herself for the time being.
Reid Cunningham moved to Los Angeles to surf and became pretty darn good at it until his best friend was murdered. When Bodie died Reid changed and decided to take up the family business eventually joining the LAPD. Reid works tirelessly, but when Cass comes to him fearing for her life she takes the center stage in his life. Reid has always wanted Cassidy and it is harder now more than ever to stay away from her.
Loved this fast paced romantic suspense with tons of smoking hot romance! Then we meet tons of enigmatic characters that are interesting and likable which makes us want to know more. Can't wait for the next one in this series!

There is just something about a man in uniform, and K. Langston has got that down! The Detective’s Trust is the second book in her Brothers in Blue series, a series about the Cunningham brothers all of whom serve in different branches of law enforcement. It can definitely be read as a standalone, but if you want to get your first glimpse at the Cunningham men go scoop up The Officer’s Promise too-you won’t be sorry you did!
Reid Cunningham works for the LAPD, but when a blast from his past shows up on his doorstep, he doesn’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to keep Cassidy safe. Cassidy is his best friend’s younger sister, and of course Reid has spent years denying his feelings for her because you know “bro code.” However, their connection runs deep, and the more time they spend together the harder it is for Reid to deny his feelings. Reid is everything! He is dominant, protective, and loyal. Cassidy was perfect for him. She was kind and loving but was feisty and gave as good as she got. The Chemistry between them was off the chart and Reid’s dirty mouth….good grief!
There was an unexpected twist that kept me needing to know what was going to happen next. I don’t want to go into too much detail and give anything away, so I’ll just say you won’t be disappointed! I can’t wait for more from the Cunninghams ☺
Thanks for the sneak peak!

**Carla's Five Star Review

Bad boys, Bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?

This is the second book in the Brothers in Blue, a series about the incredibly hot Cunningham brothers all of whom work in some branch of law enforcement. This is Reid's story and can be read as a stand alone.

After losing his best friend, Reid Cunningham throws himself into his work as a detective for the LAPD. For fear of never experiencing that kind of loss again, Reid has closed off his heart. However, all it takes for those walls around his heart to come crumbling down is her. Cassidy Sky. His best friend's little sister. Cassidy is in trouble, and Reid will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. However, what might not be safe is his heart.

I have always been a fan of the brother's best friend falling for the little sister, so this book was right up my alley. Reid and Cassidy were perfect for one another! They connected on a deep level, while sharing a chemistry that was off the charts! I also thought the story progressed at the perfect pace and had just enough drama to keep me turning the pages. This book/series is one that every reader is sure to enjoy. I mean, who the heck doesn't love a man in uniform??

5 HUGE, Hot-Alpha Alert Stars!!

I have to start off with the fact that I haven't read the first book in this series, The Officer's Promise, but I will definitely have to after reading Book 2, The Detective's Trust! K Langston has such a way of making you feel like you're part of the action, not just reading about it! The story just flows, the character development is awesome...all in all, I LOVED every single moment spent reading this insanely sexy, suspense-filled love story between a couple of characters (Reid and Cassidy) that I totally fell in love with!

Reid has always felt guilty about the way he DIDN'T save his best friend Bodie from being murdered, so when Bodie's sister Cassidy shows up unexpectedly with a huge problem, Reid's protective alpha instincts kick in, big time! Add to that the fact that there was always a certain awareness between them that was never acted on (HE was her teen crush and SHE was off-limits), makes for some pretty intense sexual chemistry! While trying to get to the bottom of what had Cass running to him for help, the suspenseful turns and the TOTALLY unexpected twist at the end had me turning the pages much quicker than I wanted to!

I absolutely can't wait for the next installment of this HOT series....but in the meantime, I have another Cunningham brother to meet (and I'm sure, fall in love with!) Well done, K!

This short story is the second in the Brothers in Blue Series, which features a different law enforcement. The detective's Trust introduces another brother in this series. This is a 4 star for this romantic suspense.

Cassidy shows up years later on Reid door step, her dead brother's best friend, because she's in trouble. Reid must help her and will protect her at any cost.

This short intense story was packed with suspense, romance and some action. It's a police kind of story. Hot man who protect. There was some shocking twists and turns and most were a surprise too. I like it when an author can keep us guessing until the end. I didn't get too attached to the characters because there was a lot of things going on. There was never a dull moment that's for sure.

Could be read as a standalone but if the readers are going to start reading this series they might as well start with the first story. I recommend this story.

Cassidy Sky is beautiful, successful and very independent. Until one thing has her running into the arms of her brother's best-friend. The one she has always had feelings for but hasn't seen in years.

Reid Cunningham hasn't forgotten her not for a single minute but he's moved on. His past has fueled his determination for his future and his career. When she shows up unexpectedly, he knows he has no choice but to protect her.

This is the 2nd book in the series and can be read as a standalone. The author grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me turning the pages until the very end. I loved this story!

I really liked Cassidy's independence and determination. I loved Reid's fierce protectiveness of her and battling his feelings for her. The chemistry between the two leaps off the pages and I found myself rooting for them from the beginning. I really appreciated the tie-in with the first book, The Officers Trust.

If you love reading hot cop romances do yourself a favor and get this one!

The Detective's Trust is book 2 in the Brothers in Blue series and follows Reid Cunningham and Cassidy Sky.

Reid and Cass have known each other their whole lives but haven't seen each other since Cass's brother, Reid's best friend, Brodie was killed because of his involvement and addiction to drugs.

When Cass gets a note alluding the fact that she may be in trouble she immediately goes on the run to the one person she knows will protect her at all costs...Reid Cunningham.

Reid carries a lot of guilt about things that went down in the his and Cassidy's past but he also secretly carries his undying feelings for Cassidy.

Can Reid keep his need to protect Cassidy separate from his love for her or will the lines be blurred and hearts broken?

I LOVED this book. K Langston has no shortage of hot alpha men in her books and I can't wait to see what's next in this series!!

The Detective's Trust is a true page turner. Reid and Cassidy lost touch after her brothers murder. Both Reid and Cassidy blame themselves for his death and live tortured separated lives until a note and a necklace brings them back together.
Reid promised Bodie he always protect his little sister Cassidy, he never knew he would need to protect his own heart from her. Cassidy has lived on her own and taken care of herself but always felt the pull to Reid. She always knew they belonged together, convincing him would be her mission. When she finds herself in trouble the first person she runs to is Reid. And their adventure begins. This book has everything suspense, love, plot twists and some of the hottest scenes I've ever read. K. Langston truly created Amazing characters with this brothers in blue series. I can't wait to see what the other Cunningham brothers have in store for us.

K Langston is one of my favorite authors because of the way you can tell she lives, breathes and bleeds her characters.
There is not one male character in any of her books that does not make you completely fall in love. Even her broken male characters are full of love and protectiveness that you know someone K Langston cares for is written into these men.
Reid is no different. He carries around a heavy heart after losing his friend. He is married to the job. He has a wonderful family but doesn't realize what he has been missing is what he was staying from.
And the best part of this book - PLOT TWIST! I usually pride myself on being able to pick up plot twists before they happen....but K Langston proved me wrong with this one. I didn't see it coming! And I loved it!
Don't miss out on this great new series from K Langston!

Wow!!! What can I say about this book without giving anything away? You definitely need to jump into this book blind. It is full of twists and turns that will leave you stunned and not wanting to put it down.

Reid is one of the bossiest characters I have ever read. He takes the term "alpha" to a whole new level. He is set on protecting Cassidy at any cost. Of course Cassidy is spunky and sassy which only makes Reid bossier.

I will pull every emotion out of your soul. I laughed, I cried, I literally sat on the edge of my seat. It's full of suspense, heartbreak, healing and white hot passion! K. has totally completely outdone herself with this book! The Detective's Trust gets 6 stars!!!

Short story. Big impact.

As with many novellas, The Detective's Trust by K. Langston dives right into the conflict of the story. This is always a plus for me as it is a good change of pace. I can never say enough about an author who tells such different stories within a series. We go from stalker exes to a completely different, thrilling, and heart-stopping new adventure with Cassidy and Reid.

Cassidy is sweet, but sassy. Reid is broody, but has an amazing heart. Their connection is hot. I haven't read a brother's best friend in a while, but they reminded me of why I use to love it!

This book may be short, but it is full of awesome.

You will find Reid and Cassidy entertaining, frustrating, amazing, sexy- everything!

Trust me, this book might be short but you will devour the words, be thrilled by some unexpected twists and squeal with delight when it's over.

Another well written book by this author! I look forward with much anticipation the rest of these men in this fabulous series!

I loved this book and can not wait for the next in the series.

I am terrible at putting my thoughts into words but I'm trying to do more for the author's that do so much for me by simply writing the books I've fallen in love with.

Reid was an amazing, tortured soul that harboured so much guilt. It was intriguing, intense, and well written. K Langston is an amazing writer and I recommend her to anyone that asks. You will not regret purchasing this book.
