Wow. A house made of avocado and a yard full of foxes. I think that would be my heaven.
If you write WWII fiction, don't hesitate to contact me so I can add your book to my to-read list! It's probably obvious, but I love reading about WWII and am always eager to communicate with fellow authors!
"An old willow tree; a childhood love torn by war and pride." Description of "The Willow" by Stephanie Baumgartner
This lovely little story was a complete surprise to me. I had no idea how absolutely evergreen beautiful it would be, but it was.
So this is a short World War II story and I’ve got to say what it lacks in length it Makes up for in effervescent freshness.
I really can’t say much as to the plot and with short stories I usually don’t do plot reviews because I’m always likely to give something away.
But I will say I think it’s significant that I’m not usually a fan of World War II stories or romances and this is both, and I absolutely fell in love with the story, so if it appeals to me, someone who doesn’t really read that much of either genre, then I’m sure for someone who does read either or both of these genres you will just love it.
This book seems to have several ratings , but I can’t believe I’m the first person writing a review of it. I’ve always loved willow trees and one of my favorite book Quotes is all about reading under a willow tree and comes from the historical classic The witch of blackbird pond.
Anyway, this little story has exquisite prose and is bursting with feeling and it’s also filled with hope and tenderness, and is as sweet as apple blossoms. I really hope some of my Goodreads friends take a chance on this one.
As I said it’s a short story and can be read in minutes. Highly highly recommended.
