At almost twenty-one, Corrie has overcome the tragedies of her youth and made a name for herself as a journalist. Facing new challenges in Miracle Springs, including a secret that could tear apart her close-knit family, she must find a way to accept that sometimes the Lord uses difficult circumstances for good.

What a story of salvation. This book will get you thinking about your own walk with God. It is full of grace, forgiveness, love, and how you should treat others no matter how they treat you
The plot was simplistic and formulaic. There was the evil and greedy banker who foreclosed and otherwise oppressed the good and pure townspeople, but the good and pure townspeople won out anyway just because they were good and pure. Even so, though, that would have been enough to make the story mildly entertaining if not especially memorable, except for one big problem -- one very big and huge problem. What do you suppose made the good and pure protagonists so good and pure? They were so good and pure because they were a bunch of bible thumping religious fanatics. That is why the plot was so weak. The authors were not really very concerned about the plot anyway. What they were concerned about was beating the reader over the head with religion. That was offensive enough by itself, but some points of the religious ideology that was being pushed were especially offensive. It was extremely sexist for one thing. A constant theme throughout this preachy book was the preaching that the good and pure woman must always defer to men. In fact, a woman who was running for mayor dropped out of the race because she realized that it was the man's place to be the leader. She let her husband take her place. This book at least illustrates why religion is so oppressive. The world would not only be better off without that superstitious ideology called religion, but it would be better off without books like this that push such regressive ideologies.
As Corrie grows up as with most series similar the books tend to lose a little something but there are still surprises on the horizon for Corrie Belle & siblings. Keep reading & keep enjoying each & everyone. They honestly are all quite similar in the way they read but new things happen in each book (some quite surprising)!!
Another great story in this family series. I am enjoying these stories immensely. I love all the characters and am greatly looking forward to their adventures in the next book.
This book was narrated by Corrie Belle Hollister but about her pa, Drummond Hollister and her stepmother, Almenda Parrish Hollister and their lives as leaders in Miracle Springs, CA. It was also about coming to know Jesus as Savior, having His Spirit deep within, following his lead and living as Christians. Spiritually, it is a rich book. The story was also as good as the other books in this series.
I suspect many would find this story syrupy thick in religion, but I can imagine a reality matching. It is a family actively putting God to the forefront of daily life. I understand how their behavior could make one uncomfortable as it feels foreign to those not practicing open prayer or discussions of faith. I do wonder if there were pockets of such faith-filled in society in the mid to late 1800s. I found this read inspiring.
The adventure continues as Corrie Belle matures as an adult and a young Christian. My wife and I read this series when we first came to the Lord. Corrie's adventures in early California gave us insight into our own history (my wife is from central California and I am from Nevada) as well as encouraging us to keep trusting God even when circumstances overwhelm us.
I really liked this one and had a hard time stopping so I could get some sleep at night. A story about the Hollister family. Almeda is running the supply store, Drummond is working his mine, Katie is being rude, Nick is trying to love his wife, and all Almeda & Drummond's kids are trying to help. Many, many things happen during the 9 months of the story.
This series had changed my life and thinking! That's the purpose of a good author to open your eyes and heart to new ideas. This sweet sorry will do that.
