Just ok, good fun, nothing impressive, definitely a transition book by all standards, author even admits to it. There's a little fun here and there, not much plot development really, it was like an anime chapter on the school festival, but instead of a school is another world with crazy people on it.
Aqua wasn't around much, and whenever she was she caused the usual problems. Megumin was fun when she was teasing Kazuma. Darkness was also not around much. And the only thing the author expanded on was the relationship between Kazuma and Chris, which seems to be growing nicely.
Other than that... there was the usual pervertness, but that's not new.

A funny book with an unexpected twist and interesting quirks but it mostly was going nowhere in terms of plot.

Cute breather side-story after the really good beefy last couple volumes, I loved all the focus on Chris!

(This is the 8th in the series, read the others first) The yearly festival celebrating the goddess Eris has come to. However, the Axis Cult wants to participate as well, resulting in a rivalry in the 2 cults. Kazuma is dragged in, and is stuck as the advisor, seeing over the festival.
This volume has the signature comedy that Konosuba is known for, and plenty of it. Just seeing everything unravel keeps me glued to the screen, for the hours and hours that it takes to complete.
Like most series with an episodic format, Konosuba may eventually get boring. The plot also isn't focused on all that often, as this series is mostly character-driven.
You don't have to be an advanced reader for this. However, it contains strong language and some suggestive themes, so don't read it if you're sensitive to those type of novels.

An Axis cult vs. Eris sect culture festival arc... *chef's kiss*

I really enjoy Konosuba's approach to slice of life developments. Funny how a story whose main plot is to defeat a devil king doesn't always have some sort combat climax for each installation in the series. I like when my expectations are derailed to allow for the ridiculousness that ensues.

Looking forward to the next volume, feels like I'm finally getting to the points that encouraged me to read the light novels in the first place!

It's fine, I guess. The volume is not really that plot significant, however it is still fun. Really love the moments between Eris and Kazuma (this ain't a spoiler unless you really have zero idea how to see foreshadowing). Kazuma's antics are still there, but not really as deplorable as the last one in my opinion. Still got a good amount of laugh of the characters and their quirks. In truth, it was not really about Eris vs Axis Church, but rather more on a bit of character development for Eris.

Same old world and same old characters, working as well as before. These books are short, so nothing has gotten old. Jokes hit, wholesomeness prevails, friendships bloom, etc. The plot was all over the place for this one, but a lot of character development. If you've been liking the series so far, you'll want to read this one and the Next one for sure.

une phrase dans l'afterword est un résumé parfait de cette série : "don't forget what series your reading". Voilà, si à un moment vous avez l'espoir que les personnages évoluent, que le plot avance, que quoi que ce soit change : n'oubliez pas ce que vous lisez.

This was amusing enough but everyone being pissy towards Kazuma seems not as funny on paper as it does in animated form.....

Eris is really underrated, so I’m glad to see a book (kind-of) centred around her. People say this book is filler, but I think it is still one of the better volumes.

Another fun and enjoyable entry in the series, certainly weaker than the last few books though as this one was a good bit more aimless.

The funniest volume of them all

Konosuba volume 8 the beginning of the crimson village arc a megumin focused arc and the arc of the recent movie that came out in November 2019 in the states. With the manga including cut content from the Light Novel and seeing the movie before reading the manga I’m almost kinda of glad as the joke they cut was one of the funniest yet. Megumin the formerly most popular character of Konosuba she was dethroned by Aqua in a recent popularity poll regardless is still a fan favorite. She shines in this volume as it takes place in her hometown the village her prequel spinoff series took place in. The jokes land too with some of the context being changed a bit might offend some people but didn’t offend me. Art is great as always and getting that world building that the movie cut for action was great. The action takes a backseat but I didn’t mind that all. It was a great volume I laughed out loud literally and Konosuba continues to be one of the best in its genre.

Funny but Average

Akatsuki sensei is funny as usual, but like other reviewers have mentioned, the plot seemed to meander in this volume.

I enjoyed the developments between the characters. Between Kazuma, Megumin and Darkness. Even Eris!

The only one missing in this dynamic was Aqua! I was hoping for a volume focused on the development of the relationship between Aqua and Kazuma, as has been hinted in the earlier volumes.

Still, this entry was amusing and that was enjoyable enough.

Good fun by my standard as a fan, but definitely felt like filler and a bit meandering. I just love the world so it’s great for me regardless. But 3/5 in respect to the rest of the series ig…

The Konosuba light novels are always amazing, this one maybe a little less so than the previous volumes. The author himself describes it as being a bit all over the place and it being a case of him ”taking a breather” in the afterword. Still, an average Konosuba novel still means a great light novel. This is a series I’ll keep following.
