A war story... on dragonback!

Young crafts well written battle scenes thick with culture and character which he conveys excellently. We have the opportunity to follow a man, a warrior, whom fate has cast as a bodyguard, but finds himself in the role of soldier. Somehow, in these few pages, we have a glimpse into a detailed world full of politics, intrigue, and a culture that includes multiple Dragon breeds that serve as mounts for their warriors. The combat scenes are clear, concise, and believable. Our protagonist, Johan is refreshing as he is not the greatest swordsman, or quickest duelist. He is not even a man in his prime. But he is able to serve as a faithful warrior who begins discovering information which will likely change the course of the war and his homeland.
