It was supposed to be a one-night stand with a bad boy in a place where nobody knew his name.
Evan just wants some excitement before he puts his heart on a shelf in a deep, dark closet. He finds that excitement in a gorgeous biker called Cop he meets on the road while he's reluctantly moving back to his hometown. Once he's settled in, he discovers what a small world it really is. The sexy stranger whose kiss he can still taste after that one, reckless night is a well-known figure there with a reputation for breaking hearts and breaking rules.
And he's not about to let Evan pretend it wasn't the best night of his life.
Falling Together is a stand-alone gay romance novel with dated fashion, rotten names, and a completely happy ending.
I wasn’t impressed by this book. To say the least. Maybe it was my expectations that were a bit skewered, I don’t know. But I never got into this book and didn’t care one way or another where our characters would end up.
So what did I expect. Well from the burb I expected a hot and heavy one-night-stand in the beginning of the book, say a prologue of sorts, before the real story in the new/old hometown begun. Sure, I got the hot and heavy night at the motel – what I didn’t count on was that that night would last 40% of the book. It was a bit much to tell you the truth, especially since this is such a short book to begin with.
All right, so 40% of the book gone, then what? Enter moping whining and paranoia in the form of an overgrown baby, a.k.a. Evan. And I’m going to stop my rant there, because frankly this book isn’t worth more of my time than what I’ve already wasted.
Wow. This book.....it was almost a DNF for me. I absolutely, positively, hated Evan. He was a selfish, immature, asshole who treated Cop like shit. All. The. Time. Even after Cop completely opened himself up to him in the most painful, heartbreaking way. I never found an ounce of goodness in him and by the end I was really hoping that Cop would have told him to go fuck himself. In my eyes, Evan didn't deserve a HEA. Also, just to put it out there, Cop is called a biker in this book's blurb. He's not. He rides a motorcycle and is part owner of a dealership. So if your expecting the usual biker storyline, there isn't one. I gave this book 2 stars because I did love the fact that that the MC's were older men. I like characters that are over the age of 30 and we got that here. The only problem with that is Evan is 35 and he acts like an infant. The other thing I gave the 2 stars for is Cop. He was honest, open, and wonderful and so deserving of someone better than that jerk Evan. This was a quick read, so if that's what you're looking for, then you may enjoy it. Just be prepared to strongly dislike Evan.
I don't know what to think. On one hand this was okay, but on the other I didn't really like Evan, so that kind of drew me out of the story.
I liked Sam in the beginning, but then towards the 60% mark I was done. Over him. I mean, he saw how everyone was cool with same sex couples, so his reason for staying closeted made no sense to me. I actually like closeted characters in my books. They're real and it tears at my heart, but Evan drove me crazy.
I really liked Cop and how he was who he was and there was no hiding.
I really liked this story! I didn't really read the blurb, so I went into reading without having any idea where the story was going. I really liked Evan - even though I think he was stuck a bit in the past - and I LOVED Cop. What a great character. I really liked Bart - and would love to read his story ;-) Also I think Cop's ma is a hoot and she could use a story as we :-)
This is my first book by this author, but I don't think it'll be the last. Engaging story, interesting characters and a dose of reality. Well done.
Really liked this book. Sweet and satisfying. Improvements would be if the author didn't preface each action with "Evan did this or Cop did that". That style made some of the action stilted. Despite this a solid 3 star read.
I really enjoyed this book. Evan had to struggle with coming out in his hometown which shunned gay people when he moved away years ago. And I get that he was going to put his life back in the closet especially after the shitty way that his ex treated him. Communication was the key here where his ex was concerned. and also trust was hard for him also. One should put themselves in Evan's place even if it is not a true story. Things like this does happen in real life.
A well worn storyline of MC's meeting, sparks flying, but one is out and proud and one is buried deep in a closet of his own making. The weak MC could have easily turned into a sap, but I liked how the author had the strong MC slowly bring the weak MC along until he had the courage to admit who he was. Lots of steam in this one. Nice story.
Wow! I love when stories are told well. And, this story is wonderful. Evan and Cop are amazing together and their experiences are so relatable I was drawn in from the very first page. I am eagerly looking forward to reading more from Shelley.
What a delightful story. I wanted to shake Evan a little, but understood that it can be hard to come out. Cop was so loving and patient. I enjoyed how their relationship progressed. Would look for more by the author.
This was such a pleasure to read. It is one of the most beautiful stories I've read. Fate, kismet, karma, the alignment of the stars; whatever influences intervened, Evan and Cop found their soul mate in one another. There were times I wanted to shake Evan and drive home the universal truth that it does not matter what other's opinions are of how you live your life or who you love. The only thing that matters is your happiness with that person you love. Cop was a man who lived his life true to who he was. Unafraid, centered and sure of himself. He seemed tough on the outstanding but gave unconditional loyalty and love to those he cared for. He was a charismatic and compelling character. These two were at the right place at the right time. Their HEA was meant to be. And, the cover of this wonderful love story was beautiful. They Were Evan and Cop! A must read love story.
This was a very sweet low angst story. Cop and Evan were adorable. I was ready to shake Evan before he finally was able to stop hiding and cheered for him when that moment happened. Good book.
Evan kind of aggravated me with how long he took to go after Cop and show him how he felt. But overall I enjoyed the push and pull of this romance. Once you experience the real thing, you have to hold tight and don't let it go. A feel good story.
Editing my review to add that the cover...love it. BEAUTIFUL!
This was a lovely little book. Cop and Evan were a wonderful couple but Evan's fear of coming out of the closet hurt both of them so much and I cried with Cop. I was so thankful for Bart who woke Evan up to what he was losing by not coming out to the town. I loved how Cop was so to romantic with Evan. Thank you.
Falling Together is a warm, wonderful story about love, prejudice, and fear of prejudice, which in Evan's case was worse than the prejudice he actually experienced in his new town.
I really liked this story! I am new to this author and definitely will be reading more. Cop made me swoon and I fell hard for Evan, after I got over the urge to throttle him! So good!
Theme 6 This author is wicked when they hand out names and nicknames for that matter! This one had me laughing quite a few times. It's mainly a light look at someone stuck in the past who needed a nudge from the right people.
3.5 stars, i enjoyed this. It was sweet and low-angst. It annoyed me a bit that it took Evan so long to pull his head out of his ass, but i was entertained so all is good.
