“Because I want to get rich.” It was the only acceptable answer to the one interview question asked by Stratton Oakmont, the infamous brokerage firm depicted in the hit book and film, Wolf of Wall Street. You already know the story of the firm’s notorious partners. In Bleeding Greed, you’ll learn what it was like for aspiring young brokers like Ray Saulon. Lured by the promise of big money and all the cars, women and privilege that comes with it, Ray hustled his way to the high life, only to have his get-rich-quick dreams dissolve into a nightmare he never could have imagined.
I really like this book. This author did a PHENOMINAL job of putting you in his shoes as you walk with him through his initial training with Stratton Oakmont and beyond! This was a fascinating story in that anyone can start with nothing and end up completely successful...and RICH! The main point to the story of course is the downfall, as in any good story....except YOU as the reader get to walk away at the end with the opportunity to chose a different path. I've always found business topics extremely interesting and probably would have loved the high pressure thrill of getting customers to a yes. Fantastic read Mr. Saulon and I'm really looking forward to reading your next books.
Full disclosure, my friend Tim co-wrote this book. And I already know that Tim's writing style is one I like. I enjoyed the book, though it's probably more like 3.5 for me than a full 4, rounded it up for Tim. ;)
I know nothing about The Wolf of Wall Street, but as it turns out, this guy worked for the firm that the movie is about (and now I want to see said movie). I always assumed that the movie was about the 2008 stupidity, not the early 00's stupidity. I was sucked into the book. Every time I tried to put it down, I realized that I wanted to know what was going to happen to Ray next, what insanity the brokers were doing. I ended up devouring the book. I'm looking forward to reading the next one, about I guess his time in jail?
