My friends call me CT. I am not like other kids my age.
I bet you don't talk to real live Fairies, see real Ghost and speak to them. Have you levitated into the air and flown with the Fairies? Can you speak to your friends by "mind-talking?" Have you helped battle a Troll and a Witch? All in the forest behind your house? Ever since mom and I moved here to Louisiana, my life has changed.
I used to just feel like a weird girl with this awful red hair. I never fit in anywhere. But now that I understand what is going on, I embrace myself. Because I am Unique after all. You have no idea!
The greatest gift my mom ever gave me was my own library card at age ten. She recognized the writer in me far before I did. I was that book geek hanging out at the library every Saturday. I stepped through those doors into an imaginary world in which I could escape. I could be anyone; do anything I wanted. I was hooked on reading first, then came the desire to create my own stories, thus a writer was born.
I write in multiple genres. I have a thriller series, a YA Fantasy/Paranormal series, a YA Urban Fantasy angel series, and a Ghost story. I’ve also written a nonfiction book under the pen name Sherich Reison. I reside with my husband, Chris, and two fur babies, Maisie and Max.
Chasing the Light by Sherry Hutchison is a book that you can recommend to your child who loves to read. The story consisted of a little girl, the neighbor boy, fairies, and a troll. If your tween loves fantasy books, this is the book for them. It does not matter if your child is a boy or girl because there is a lot of adventure, some violence (PG type violence), and another world.
Synopsis:
CT is a very smart young lady with a vivid imagination. But it’s never led her to the kind of trouble she’s found this summer. This past summer everything has changed and her life will never be the same. Ever since her dad mysteriously left her and her mom, and they moved to a new neighborhood. CT has been seeing strange little flying lights out in the forest behind her house. She resolves herself to follow them after they appear to turn into tiny little flying people. She’ll have to learn the value of trust and friendship as she allows a boy to share her secrets. Secrets about a mysterious world that only they know about. Why have they been chosen? And what does CT’s beautiful red hair have to do with all this mystery? “All of a sudden here was a loud crash and a huge roar that started the calm night, Just like that the spell CT was under was broken, as the frightened fairies forgot the game they were playing. They dropped her and scattered in fear, leaving her in total darkness deep within the forest below. CT landed with a soft thud on the cold damp ground, hitting her forehead on a big tree trunk. She was disoriented and confused as she felt something wet and sticky trickling down her face. The scream froze in her throat as CT now knew great fear for the first time in her young life, as the spell the fairies had her under, was broken.”
The fairies were described as tiny and beautiful. I love anything fairies. I collect fairies whether they are figurines, cups, and books. I recommended the book to my daughter who would fit this age frame for the story.
I don't get to read nearly enough Young peoples books if this is the quality of imagination out there. OMG, I absolutely loved this book. CT, known to her mother as Chelsea Thomas is a sassy little redhead, with way too much imagination and energy to be kept out of mischief. She is super smart and has teamed up with her nest bestest friend, Grasshopper, known to his mother as Johnny Granger. While their mothers are dealing with their lives the two kids are out to solve the mystery for this summer. The Lights that come out of the forest behind their houses. Use your inner child and imagine the best and worst of what could happen. Then read this incredible book. I'm buying a copy for my granddaughter as soon as I can. She is going to love following CTs and Grasshoppers journey's as they learn about a whole new world.
Chasing The Light is truly a wonderful YA book that follows the journey of an adventurous and curious young girl named CT. Like her red and curly hair suggest, she is a fun-loving bright girl who discovers a world within her own. Beautiful floating lights lead her on a journey that teachers her it's okay to seek out wonders and answers.

"Chasing the Lights" is a whimsical young adult novella. It is cute and feels a bit like a children's story book tale. Over all, it is a cute and quick read with a curious and brave ten year old protagonist.
