Willing Surrender

Rate this book
Reina is a successful graphic artist that locks out the world and hides in her work. The two things she loves most are her best friend and coffee. She's comfortable in her personal space, and the last thing she's prepared for is a man that tears down her walls and pushes her boundaries. Can she emotionally handle the intensity James brings to her life?

James is a successful actor. He can have anyone he wants, until he meets Reina. She fires all of his dominating instincts, and her walls hide a need for submission that she isn't aware of. He's determined to make her his, but getting past her defenses could be an entirely different matter.

The first step to submission is emotional surrender. Can he coax her into willing surrender, or will fear and insecurities get in the way?

This is a complete standalone story.

*Contains an alpha male, explicit sex, light bondage, witty banter, lifelong friendships & plenty of coffee!

My Review:

This amazing author I have known for a long time in the digital scrapping world and I have followed her ever since. I feel that this author is making a great start in the writing world. Her thoughts, emotions and such comes from her heart and drinking a lot of coffee to keep going. Willing Surrender flows nicely and easy to follow. I love this book, in this book you meet James, Reina and Amy. At first you start to see the friendship that Reina and Amy have and they do just about everything with one another. Then later on you get to meet James and Reina falls head over heels for James, but when I meet Reina it feels that she has some trust issues when it comes to guys.
I honestly can't wait to see what this amazing author has in store for us, she is committed not only in the book community but she has 2 amazing kids and a husband that stands beside her and helps her though the madness, she also owns her own scrapping store plus she does her own scrapping needs. I am so very proud of this woman to call her my friend.

A wonderful read. The characters were well thought out and easily relatable. The Author draws you in with the easy banter and witty comments. The relaxed flow of the book draws you in and you don't want to stop reading. Those are my favorite types of read. You get to know the characters and live their lives with them on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for the next book in the series! Crystal J.

I have to say, right away I adored Reina. She’s a lot like the rest of us, a homebody who chooses to work from home. She loves coffee (ok maybe she’s fanatical about it!), being creative and her friends. She ‘s a creature of habit and shines in the little bubble she’s created for herself. Personally, if you swap out the coffee for Dew and cookies, it would be the perfect scenario for me! She’s sarcastic, witty, downright lovable and relatable.

I’m kind of crushing on James. Ok, Ok, I admit it, crushing hard on James. He’s a sexy alpha male type guy who lives the celebrity life. He may be a celebrity but he lives his life simply and controlled. For him, having control over his life gives him peace. It’s not just in his everyday life, it’s a bit in the bedroom as well! With Reina he’s not sure how she’d react to that domination. Will she be the one who can embrace him fully or run scared?

Their connection is instantly hot! James is one of the few who respects not only who she is, but her need to have the bubble of protection around her. There is a reason for it, and it’s interesting how he gets around those defensive maneuvers to try to capture her heart! Reina has strong feelings for James and wants to let everything negative fade away from her mind and allow him in to see everything.

Creative adoration (positives): I was drawn to both characters quickly, and for me that’s a great thing. If a character doesn’t snag you right away and draw you into every portion of their world, the book isn’t worth reading. Carrie was very successful in that! I love the heat and the emotions of their journey.

Creative indifference (negatives): I wanted more! I realize that Carrie is continuing the series, but like any truly good book….you want the next one NOW!

Creative appraisal (overall): For this being a debut novel, it was very well written and satisfying. She left just a hint of there being more to their story. I do believe Carrie has a knack for creative storytelling that will take her far as an author. Personally, I say bring on book 2! I mean, like right now! ;)

My star rating: 5 out of 5 stars

What do you do if you run into your celebrity crush and he shows an interest in you? That is exactly the question Reina Hessman has to answer when she’s out with her best friend Amy Harris. For reasons Reina can’t fathom sexy actor James Beaston has taken more than a keen interest in her and it’s left her questioning why. More importantly, should she give in to his advances?
Carrie Hogle pieces together a wonderful story of friendship, romance, seduction, and self-doubt. You will find yourself laughing, screaming, and perhaps getting a bit hot under the collar, and not because of all the coffee Reina drinks. For her first effort, Carrie Hogle has crafted an awesome story with relatable characters that made this book an absolute delight to read.

I don't read a lot of strictly romance novels, but this one had me hooked! It's a light, fast paced, sexy, funny and entertaining read. Plus there's lots of coffee, what more could a girl ask for?

This book was a perfect quick read on a snow day. I could feel the insecurities and shyness from Reina. James was famous, but had a quietness about him. It was cute how they first met. Sad how things didn't quite work out how you would expect. Sometimes, you just need to go after what your heart wants. I look forward to reading the next book.

Not as described

This book is OK as a romance with a little sex involved, but it's not the book described in the blurb. They meet, she has a lot of angst, the end. There is way too much unnecessary verbiage in the descriptions of every setting and building. I plaid attention at first because I thought it might be relevant to the story, but it wasn't. The Hero shows little dominant qualities. I thought I'd like the heroine because she is supposed to be mature, early 30's, having already been married and divorced, but she displayed very little maturity or even emotion, other than angst. The "light bondage" mentioned in the blurb was so light as to be almost nonexistent. He ties her hands with satin ribbons at about the 74% mark, and that's about it. The two line epilogue is spicier than the whole rest of the book.

This book really makes you feel like you are meeting your celebrity crush and then to make it better he shows an interest in you? Well Reina has this happen to her on a rare night that she’s out with her best friend Amy.
Carrie weaves together a wonderful story of friendship, romance, and what if. This book has it all, laughter, steamy romance, and crazy in love book boyfriend materiel. For her first book, Carrie has created a story with totally relatable characters that made this book an absolute delight to read.

Wow! Great read

Carrie has done a wonderful job on her book. Some pretty raw emotions here.
I was able to identify with the characters in this story.
Friendship, meeting a person of your dreams, falling in love, heart ache and forgiveness. I can't wait to read the next book of the series to see how these relationships evolve.

Best first book I've read in a very long time...
Reina is so full of sass, and bright fun, i'd love to meet her in person... The writer hooks you into the creative world of Reina and makes you want to learn more, she brings in James an alpha who is so hot he steams the pages off the book (LOL) the chemistry between the two is spark's flying... We learn some about the 2 in their first "mini" vacation, what she likes , how she loves candle and smelly lotions.. James hints at the dominance in the bedroom, with the bracelet that he gives Reina, with the heart and a place to put a ribbon or rope though them... I love it when she goes to his home, because she cant stop thinking about him. She's in his space and they start to make a life together, why she runs was lost to me (Sorry)

Overall, I can't wait to read book 2 in the series, and 3 ...
