"Loneliness is killing me. I need a bro." A few months after moving for his first real job, Price still hasn't managed to make friends in his new city. No one here understands his football-playing, beer-drinking ways, and the oppressive solitude drives him to the online personals. He's not looking for a date, or even for a girl to warm his bed. What he needs more than anything is a bro. "Internet dating isn’t really my thing, but I'm too far gone to care." Kingsley just struck out at the gay bar again - if being too shy to approach anyone is called striking out. Despite having good looks and clever wit on his side, he's alone. Tipsy with only his cat for company, he checks out the M4M ads. In the morning, he agrees to meet up with someone... even if he doesn’t remember which ad the guy posted. "Why did he send me a winky face?" Once Price and Kingsley meet up, Price quickly decides they’ll be buddies for life. Meanwhile, Kingsley’s crushing on him. Will Kingsley figure out Price is straight before falling even harder? Or will Price realize the connection they share goes deeper than friendship? Bro 4 Bro is a 45,000-word standalone friends-to-lovers gay romance, complete with lots of heat and a happily ever after ending.
I certainly didn't care for this as much as REUNITED & struggled with feeling for the MCs. The miscommunication concept was fine but both Opal & Misty were flat, which wrongly executed this for me. Didn't connect with the romance, wished Misty's friends were more talked about, didn't believe the "HEA" they got for one second. Bummer that it was a waste of my time especially after loving the author's debut so much. Will still be on the lookout for their future endeavors as Logan's prose kept me entertained enough throughout & chalk this up to a sophomore slump.
And just a minor personal gripe: there's only so much I can take of seeing "hon" sprawled across the pages. Just saying.
**Update: Changing my review, removing rating, because I am annoyed... This Author has the same exact book under a pseudonym, H.L. Logan and changed the character Genders From F/F to M/F to M/M. To me personally, it just seems really dishonest to take the exact same books with the exact same wording (basically plagiarizing your own work) and then republishing them all with different gender pronouns, I personally do not feel comfortable reading this authors books and will no longer be purchasing or reviewing them either.***
Ok. First let me start by saying I have read Harper's books before and they usually have a good storyline to them. This was no exception. I think this book had a decent plot to it and the guys were likeable. It was an easy light read. And even though it was not my favorite from Harper it was alright. BUT..... *giggling* I really cannot get over the use of the word/phrase "Bro" in this Story. LOL. Every time I read it used between Kingsly and Price I could not help but laugh. It was just ridiculous Bro. Not necessarily in a bad way just kind of Corny. *giggling again*
I don’t usually read reviews before reviewing a book myself (no need to bias my opinion before opining) but in this case I’m quite happy I did…
In the reviews I have learned that this book has been published in varying forms. Under this book you can also find reviews for - Femme for Femme: same story but FF with Misty and Opal (2017) - A book with the same title where the main characters aren’t called Caleb and Price but rather Kingsley and Price (2016) - And then there’s this edition which is from 2019 featuring Price and Caleb - One reviewer evens says that there’s an MF version besides the MF and two MM versions.
Publishing the same book over and over again and basically just changing around pronouns - why should I care about the characters if the author clearly doesn’t themselves? I was looking forward to checking out more from this author’s catalogue because they have some more bromantic ones but it seems like that won’t be happening now.
Overall, I did enjoy this because I’m always looking for more bromances with an excessive amount of “bros” (as well as Craiglists bro requests!) and this had lots of bros: 88 in total.
Price was adorable in his search for a bro and not understanding that Caleb was actually flirting with him. He was hot and cold for a while which unnecessarily hurt Caleb tho – bad bro-ing! The plot was ridiculous: there should have either been a focus on the external bad boss plot or internal sexuality awakening vs. bro struggles - not this half-hearted mix not giving either enough depth.
NSFW infos: - 22 year old bro who hates Portland and always thought he was straight (learns he’s bi, tops) - 23 year old guy who’s out and gay and talks a lot to his cat (bottoms) - I think there were a couple of sex scenes which weren’t particularly creative and lost out on the potential of being bro-jobs :’)
***** KUing this because holy shit I want to reach 300 books before 2016 ends and it's already the 31st, and I'm 4 books short O_O!! I need something super quick!! Who knows, this book might surprise me. I haven't had great literary experiences with this author but under the circumstances, I'm willing to give it one more try. Here's to knocking out two birds with one book :-P!!
3.5* Ok, I know this is not a very reasonable book, but I must say that I enjoyed it! I read it in one sitting and I really wanted to continue reading to know WTH is going to happen next xD Because a lot things happens LOL
At the first part we have a great deal of funny scenes!! The most of them because Price is a total oblivious about being hitting by Kinsley ~
*~~*ARC kindly provided by the author to me in exchange for an honest review *~~*
Ah, this was really nice and pleasant to read. :3 I enjoy the books by Harper Logan and they are not totally outstanding but with a constant nice, pleasant quality in entertaining I like.
Price is a bit lonely living in a city where he has nobody who he can call "bro". As a talkative person he needs somebody around him. So he is putting an ad for a bro online....
When he met Kingsley he think he found the right guy, the guy who can be his bro... but Kingsly is mistakingly thinking it's Price's way of searching for a next hook up...
The idea of having a bro while the other is thinking of having a one night stand is funny and well developed. I had great times reading this and the character were pleasant displayed.
I also liked the "suspense" in the book though the revelation was a bit rushed, the event maybe a bit stupic in action (the culprit wasn't the smartest one xD)
Also nice to have a small connection to the other books by the author though they don't have a real appearance. :)
Price is new in town, lonely and looking for a friend with whom he can share his love of sports and just spend time talking. One night, while more than a little drunk, he puts an ad on Craigslist. Kingsley answers the ad thinking that he’s going on a date. Price thinks he’s straight and so the misunderstandings begin. The interaction between the two MCs was quite enjoyable and the office happenings made things interesting. I had two problems with the story. The first was the editing where it looked like sentences were changed but the original words were not removed. It wasn’t a lot, just enough to be annoying at times. The second was the epilogue. Too slick and not very likely. I will not spoil the ending, everyone should decide for themselves what they think. Overall, I enjoyed the story and will read more from this author, who is new to me. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book was awesome. There were some funny moments and some cute ones. A few times I was concerned for the guys' safety. The way it ended was so cute and sweet I had a couple happy tears. I kind of figured we would be getting Price's story after reading Bromance.
I like the beginning and found it adorable and amusing. It got pretty heavy on the hook-up aspect of things and while it was niiiiiiiice, it wasn't quite the relationship dynamic I was looking for. The mystery, whole set up early on, was still weirdly done. The epilogue was a nice touch but still felt a little weird.
Um, well. I almost didn't read past the first 15%. I dislike all things Greek. The characters are young and that annoyed me some, they're ridiculously naive and vapid sometimes. Also not a fan of alternating first-person chapters.
A few things kept me interested enough to try a bit longer, and ultimately the book got better, except for the ridiculous (in my opinion) final chapter that serves as an epilogue.
Won't read it again. Glad it was free through my Amazon subscription. I don't think I would choose to read it, knowing what I know now.
Would be two stars, but it got the third for being different and putting in an element I can't remember having read in one of these before.
A book for average guys (if there is really such a thing as 'average').
Price is a straight guy just out of college and working in his new job as an architect in Portland, Oregon. He's far away from Rosebridge, New Hampshire, where he grew up and studied, and separated from all his friends. Gunther, Price's flatmate, is a hipster who drinks craft beers and is not exactly Price's type. The guys at work don't fit with Price either. As Price looks around the whole arty culture of Portland seems foreign. He wants a down to earth bro like the guys back home. One night, tried, a little drunk and desperate, Price puts an add "Bro4Bro on Craigslist. Surely that will get him a friend. The only thing is, without thinking he puts it in the M4M section. Kingsley, a gay guy looking for a hook-up or maybe even a friend, answers.
If you call your guy friends 'bro' and 'man', eat burgers or chicken wings, enjoy football and other competitive sports and like to relax playing online games with the guys, this is the book for you. We enter the world of an average guy just looking for a friend. The friend he makes is also ordinary, with the twist that he is gay. This book is full of misunderstandings, awkward moments and light humour. Harper Logan has created an endearing world in which normal 'real men' discover they have a connection deeper than they expected. The book flows along well, with no boring bits or tiresome repeats. At 207 pages it's a short read, so ideal if you have a busy life. Still it is long enough to get deeply into Price's world. The chapters alternate between Price and Kingsley's point of view. As a result the reader also gets to know Kingsley well. This technique adds variety and leads to some real humour as the guys think very differently about certain events.
Price, as I have said, is an average guy, and the reader immediately likes him and hopes for the best for him. We can certainly understand his situation, and indeed many will have themselves experienced the circumstance of starting out anew in a fresh place. Kingsley goes to gay clubs, but is not exactly deeply into gay culture. Many gay readers will like him precisely because he is 'ordinary'. The rest of the world often views gays as a type, perhaps feminine or champ, or perhaps into whips and chains, perhaps with an in-your-face attitude. Of course gays actually come as all types, but many of them are just 'ordinary'. Despite all the mishaps and crossed wires the reader really hopes these two guys can at least be friends. We feel both Price and Kingsley really deserve that.
This book is themed around the idea that appearances can hide unexpected things, and even treasure. After all what is really ordinary? Don't ordinary things have real value if they turn up at just the right time? Are exactly what we want? Is being gay really as unordinary as we think? Even if it is special, can't it fit into an ordinary world? Closely allied to this is the idea that sometimes we think we know ourselves only to find that we have qualities we didn't expect. "I'm just like everybody else!" we say, but is that true, or even a good idea. It's a good idea to question our picture of ourselves and get out of the box, otherwise we may be missing what could be a real source of fulfilment.
As an 'ordinary' guy I really enjoyed this book about average men. It was a comfortable read, but still managed to stretch me a little. I am pleased to award Bro4Bro five stars.
This is entertaining, dramatic, romantic and sweet. Price is lonely after taking a job on the opposite coast fom where he grew up. He hasn't met anyone who is into beer and football like he is, so he puts an add looking for a bro. Kingsley is tipsy and a little down after a night with his friends, so he cruises the ads hoping he finds just one normal guy. When he finds Price's ad he responds to it. And Price immediately replies to him. They talk for a while and make plans to meet the next night. Kingsley thinks he is meeting with a potential hookup, Price thinks he's making a friend to hang out with. Both end up confused, Kingsley because Price is sending mixed signals, Price because something about Kingsley makes him feel something weird. Price has a hard time accepting what he feels, because he's never been attracted to a guy before, despite holding hands with a boy in kindergarten. It causes hurt feelings for both, until Price finally can admit to himself that he wants to be with Kingsley. It's a good story with a very romantic ending. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This is such a sexy story of Price and Kingsley. Price is in search of a Bro. Someone to watch games, drink beer and belch with him. He has moved across country to take a good job after college and now finds himself alone and lonely. Putting an ad on a site that is for gay hookups after a little too much beer, he sits back a waits for a Bro to fall onto his couch with a can of beer in his hand. Kingsley is drunk and lonely, He answer an ad in one of the gay sites and finds Price. They joyfully hookup. Both thinking the other is really to fulfill their dreams of a good time. These characters take us on a roller coaster ride of emotions as they try to sort out their relationship. Kingsley wanting more and afraid as he has had bad experiences with straight men, but still attracted to Price. Kingsley is straight, at least he thinks he thinks he is. Kingsley however is not so sure anymore and wants more. Follow these too men on their journey of finding themselves, each other and their HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
I read Bromantic first and thought this one would be similar. Nope, it's not very good. I didn't mind the use of Bro so much, the way many other reviewers seemed to. However, lots of little details either didn't add up, or weren't believable. For example: the MC saying that it was nearly impossible to find Budweiser in Portland. Not even close to true. Yes, the areas has a lot of beer options, including all kinds of microbrews. HOWEVER, Portland has regular-ass grocery stores and corner markets just the same as everywhere else. It felt like the author's research was based on watching Portlandia, or on the secondhand tale of someone else's visit. I'm not even from Portland and I know this book wasn't a realistic representation. It's a cute idea that definitely needs a professional editor to whip it into shape. I read the first 60 pages or so and then skimmed the rest just to see how the story would end.
Do the first five minutes really set the tone for a relationhip? Price is lonely, a recent transplant looking for friends, so he posts an add looking for "bros". Caleb, is gay looking for a hookup. They meet not realizing the affiliation of the other. Price does put it out there that he is straight. Caleb thought Price was deep in the closet. The guys have an instant liking for each other. So, there are a series of miscommunications from presumptions and not talking to each other. Caleb tells Price he's straight thinking they were having a 'nod, nod, wink, wink' moment. Then Price started having feels. What is that all about? Totally funny miscues by both. Good story! Will Price open up and take that step? Will Caleb give Price time? I enjoyed the dance. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
This author is inconsistent, and this is one of her flops.
I don't like the names of the characters, Misty and Opal? Opal is overly critical about Portland, environmentally friendly ideas, hipsters, etc. She values her sorority sisters and life she had, which could just as easily be criticized.
The 'mistake' Misty made in interpreting the ad Opal put up is actually Opal's fault, since she put an ad in a place meant for dating and made it unclear.
The ending was even more ridiculous, with Misty somehow now being able to work on putting up a building with her background in English. And four years after helping to catch a shady builder, they get the key to the city.
There are much better books by this author to read, the only thing I really liked in this book is Eugene the cat.
The idea of of bro’s to lovers is always a hit. It takes Price a while before his ideas of Kingsley finally become romantic and the wait is fun. The journey is engaging and the elements of intrigue and mystery make it even better. Justice served on the culprit, no spoilers, brings our heroes into the limelight and closes the book, nicely. It’s easy to like our heroes and when they finally find their HEA you can close the book satisfied.

Price is in need of a friend, having relocated to Portland without a familiar person in sight. He uses a personal ad in Bro4Bro in hopes of finding companionship. Caleb is gay and after he answers Price's ad thinking Price wanted one thing - Price believes he's straight - they dance around an attraction to one another. They find themselves crossing that thin line between attraction to a friend you like being around and like liking that person. They get there in this fun to read story.

I liked these characters even if they were kind of dumb. The book was pretty ok, nothing major standing out as far as writing style or editing. The only reason it’s getting a 3 star is for how many times I rolled my eyes at the ‘plot’ and thought ‘who wrote this sh—‘
This was so different than I what I was expecting. This was well written and the storyline I found interesting and kept me engrossed. The chemistry between Caleb and Price was really good too.

This a very fluff read basically a dude bro romance gay for you. Awakening. It wasnt bad, wasnt amazing. The cat on the cover was confusing like it was a shifter book. Probably wouldnt have that have that have that as such a huge image on the front cover.
This was cute.. i enjoyed it. the characters were fun.. i love their miscommunication and then how it all came together and fell into what it needed to be.. i loved it and it was adorable :)
