Another great book from the lovely brindi quinn!!!! I received this copy from the author for an honest review!
This girl is freaking amazing. I can't believe she can wrote two completely different genres and still be amazing! The story is about a HILARIOUSLY spunky girl who can jump between three freaking realms. This may sound like your typical light verses dark book, but the twists caught me completely off guard!
This book would be great for anyone who loves mystery or steampunk! It almost reminds me of the mortal instruments series but with less weirdness! Not to mention thAt I LOVE how the main character is such a quirky chick!
Definitely pick this book up guys!

I received a copy of this book for free from the wonderful author. Thank you so much!! All opinions are my own.

He cups me close to his face, near his mouth, so that his lips are grazing the reaches of my light. “You’re warm, B.” He grins. “Like a small fluttering bird.”
Then, his grin grows into something edging on salacious, and I have one hasty, breathless thought:

. . . He’s going to kiss me?

Nope.
At the last moment, he opens his mouth and shoves me inside.
If I’m not mistaken, I’ve just been swallowed.

. . . . . . . . . .

Bexley Lightborne is not your average run-of-the-mill mortal. She’s a realm-hopping, light-wielding badass . . . with just a touch of amnesia.

As shadows from the dark realm invade the world of light, Bexley enlists the help of a foul-mouthed, baby-faced newcomer holding magickal potential . . . who also happens to be the worst human boy Bexley has ever met.

Tethered together, two unlikely heroes will discover the truth of their forgotten bloodline and fight to reclaim what’s been lost, whether they want to or not.

Four colors collide in a war of light.
And all of this magick stuff? Pretty badass.

Step inside a world parallel to your own. Click now to start the fight. – Amazon.com

So this is my second book from Brindi and it completely floored me how well she wrote two different genres! You wouldn't be able to tell she wrote a dystopian by reading this fantasy steampunk novel! Obviously I loved this book and I loved how this book was fast paced, but did not skimp on any of the plot or world building. The plot was amazingly well done and super developed and interesting throughout the novel. The characters were all well developed as well. Brindi does something very well in her books from what I've read so far. She is really good at writing in her characters voice. Bexley has a very distinct voice in this book and the book flows very well.

I only had one minor complaint and that was the relationship between Bexley and Pidd slightly creeped me out because he was said to be 17 and I grew up in Tennessee where 17 was considered a minor. But now I live in Georgia where 17 is considered an adult and in other states 16 is considered an adult. I had to keep reminding myself (like I do daily at work) that 17 is a legal adult but it is a hard habit to break. However it got easier to deal with throughout the book.

Verdict: If you've not read any Brindi Quinn books you NEED to. Like NOW. She writes amazingly wonderful books and they're funny and deep at the same time. She's wrote a ton of books and if these two are any indication she definitely proves herself to be a versitle author.

Thanks for the review copy Brindi Quinn.

Lightborne tells a story of the world divided into three realms- the Mortal realm, the Lightborne realm (Yggdrasil) and the Darkling realm (Nocturne). Our hero, Amanda a.k.a Bexley is an amnesic Lightborne who has to figure out who her real friends are, what her role is and which version of the story she will believe.
Bexley, a turquoise Lightborne thinks it is her sworn duty to protect the Mortals from the Darklings, to activate any dormant Lightborne and to search for a hidden weapon. On the first day that we meet her, she manages to activate Pidd and is amazed that she happened to find another turquoise, seeing as how rare they are. When she takes Pidd back to the coterie, the Lightborne leaders for Rose, Amber and Lavender aren’t pleased. Now begins her adventure. Things begin to take a turn for the worse once she meets Kinley. It is now that she finds that she has disconnected memories that are entombed in an amber haze. She finds notes left to her and Pidd in a language that seems familiar but one that she cannot read. She finds that the attitude of people around her changes with no warning.

Bexley needs answers but is there no one who will tell her?
Why are the turquoise so rare? Why is the tree in Yggdrasil moaning? Why are Bexley’s memories hard to access? Who exactly is Kinley? For answers to these and more, go ahead and get yourself the book because you are absolutely going to love it.

As usual, Quinn’s portrayal of a world slightly different from ours leaves me amazed. The attention to detail and the slow buildup of scenes lets us internalize the setting and makes the whole book mesmerizing. I especially love the use of vernacular since it makes the characters very relatable. The conversation is snarky and there is subtle humor in each scene. The Bexley-Kinley-Pidd interactions are very captivating. I’m looking forward to finding out more about their dynamics and their role in the future of the realms in the next book of the series- Nightborne

Thanks to Brindi for the review copy

According to the the legend, initially there was only darkness leftover from another era , from darkness things beings got created, the darklings. To stop them from multiplying the maker created the Tree of Life, Yggdrasil. As this didnt stop them ,the Maker divided the world into 3 realms the Yggdress, where the Lightborne live, the mortal world and Nocturne where the darklings are. Lightborne protect humans as then search for a weapon to destroy the darkness. There are 4 bloodlines within the Lighbrorne :- Amber, Rose, Lavender, Turquoise. The turquoise are rare.

The story begins with Bexley, a turquoise Lightborne activating Pidd, also turquoise.Bexley takes Pidd back to their coterie , to Aiden , her waker . Bexley teaches Pidd the Lightborne history and how to use his skills. Later Bexley realizes that Aiden is keeping a secret from her and also that she seems to have forgotten something

Will Bexley find out Aiden' s secret? Are Lightborne truly the good guys? Read to find out

It was a very fast paced story in a dystopian world. It had me hooked from the start. I'm waiting for Nightborne so that I can know what happened to Bexley and Pidd's mission. The world and the characters are Beautiful. I'm in love with the cover, once you finish the book you understand the relevance.

Thank you brindi for the review copy!

First off let's take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this cover!!

Bexley is a lightborne , chosen to protect the mortal realm from the darklings... But not all is at it seems and lines between enemies and friends seem to blur.

The world building in this book is phenomenal and the storyline was unique. Is story was impossible to put down! The magick system is amazingly done.

I love the character building for Bexley she's spunky sarcastic and pretty badass! I love her so much!💗

Aiden, kinley and pidds characters are well written and develop well through the story.

The romance story is so good and flows naturally, I really enjoyed the way the characters connected throughout the story line

I can't believe the you ended it like that brindi!! I need book 2! Can't wait to continue this story!

I was sent this copy by Brindi to review. Thank you so much cause I really enjoyed it.
Bexley is a Lightborne who came across a guy, a new Lighborne, and bring him to her world. Thinking she will be the one to change his life, but meeting him will turn her life upside down.
YAAAS TO BADASS FEMALE CHARACTERS. We need more characters like Bexley. I loved her wit, her sense of humour and her badassness.
I always have a weak spot for fantasy, and the book was everything I look for in books; a good plot, strong character, a prince charming, and awesome sidekick!
I totally recommend it to anyone who love YA fantasy!

What immediately caught my attention for Lightborne was the stunning cover. I’m not normally a fan of covers that are mostly yellow and gold, but in this case it creates a striking image. And, bonus points: I love the font used! So I pretty much loved everything about the cover. As for the description? That helped to peak my interest as well; Lightborne looked different from other series I have read, and being that I’m always on the hunt for something good and new, obviously I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.
Lightborne, as you can probably guess from the title, is about a race of non-humans called the Lightbornes; they run around protecting humanity from the darkness. Our main perspective for this unique world is an even more unique creature; Bexley (yes, you heard me right). She’s quirky to the max, frequently talks out loud to herself, and oh yeah, she’s having her memory tampered with.

Synopsis:

Bexley is Lightborne, a unique one at that. She has the ability to drive into different realms and has a mission of protecting the Mortal Realm from the Darklings. The only downfall is Bexley has a touch of amnesia and the things and events she thinks are real may all be false. We follow her on a journey to discover who her real friends are, what her real purpose is and what version of the story she needs to believe.

Review:
Mortal Instrument readers, this may be the perfect book for you!

Firstly I loved the front cover! It grabbed my attention straight away and left me feeling curious about the book. I turned straight to the synopsis which I found gave nothing away about the book, but was definatley intriguing. When beginning Lightborne I genuinely didn't know what to expect but let me tell you, it didn't disappoint!

I loved the tone of this book it appears that Brindi Quinn is very talented at writing in a tone that engages the author. Despite the storyline being quite confusing in places due to Bexley's amnesia the story still flowed with plenty of wittiness incorporated.

The build up of the story was exciting and left me wanting more every time I put the book down. Clever twists and turns were placed throughout and despite being confusing at first, everything slotted into place and made perfect sense.

I found all the characters likable despite not knowing who I could trust. Bexley was definatley one of my favourites, and it is rare I say this about lead females. She was very likable and down to earth. Her sarcasm game was strong and I appreciated her dry sense of humour. I also found that the banter between her and the character pip, her ward was the perfect amount which left me wishing great things for their relationship- again I wasn't disappointed.

Despite the humour throughout, at the end the book's tone ingeniously changed and left me feeling quite emotional- this I think is because it was easy to attach yourself to the characters, hoping for a happy ending. As for the ending, I was definatley left wanting more. The characters journey was really just beginning!

Another clever little book by Brindi Quinn and it is quite blatant that she is a very talented author!

Recommend for: Fans of The Mortal Instruments,  urban fantasy, steampunk, and hilarious heroines.

Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lightborne is the first book in The Bexley Chronicles by author Brindi Quinn. It centers around Bexley, a Lightborne, who is one of the many such warriors tasked with defending the modern day world from the darklings of Nocturne.  She's an enjoyable protagonist, and made me chuckle aloud from her antics and personality.  This heroine is an absolute gem and I'm utterly besotted with her.

What I liked most about this story was that Bexley wasn't the typical ultra special girl being awakened into a wonderful world of magick. She's already living it on her own, having already learned the skills and knowledge for her work.  She's an enjoyable, relateable protagonist, and made me chuckle aloud from her antics and personality.  Bexley is an absolute gem and I'm utterly besotted with her.

The plot took me on a roller coaster of emotions with her as she navigates what she thinks she knows to be true, and just when I thought I had something figured out, BAM, PLOT TWIST.  Lightborne is a wild ride of a book, and worth every minute of it.  I only dared put the novel down when I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore!

Lightborne is an experience in and of itself with spectacular world building, an intriguing plot, and superb character interaction and development. I was on the edge of my seat throughout.

I eagerly anticipate the sequel, Nightborne.  I need it. I need it right now!!

MY FULL REVIEW ON MY BLOG THEGREATBOOKESCAPE

Thank you to Brindi for the Review Copy.

Genre: Fantasy, YA, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy.

First everyone should take a moment to appreciate the absolute beauty that is this cover! All the props to her cover artist, because this cover caught my eye and immediate interest. Aside from the gorgeous cover, this book was written really well and was easy to read. It is easy to get carried away with world building and confuse readers..THIS WAS NOT THAT! If you can't visualize what Brindi wrote, you lack imagination. Sorry not sorry.

A little about what you need to know about this world, which was beautifully and clearly created for the reader; there are 3 realms, The Mortal realm, Yggdress, and Nocturne. The Lightborne live in Yggdress and Darklings live in Nocturne. The Lightborne are separated into 4 bloodlines; Amber, Rose, Lavender, and Turquoise. The turquoise Lightborne are extremely rare.

The protagonist is Bexley, she is a turquoise Lightborne. The book begins with Bexley noticing another turquoise in the Mortal realm, only, he is dormant and has no idea that he is what he is. We get to go on their journey together as Bexley subsequently activates him after touching him.

I really enjoyed Bexleys character as well as her development. I appreciate a sarcastic female thats is also a badass! She may be small, but she's fierce!

I really enjoyed it better than some of the other books because of these points: Snarky conversation
Magic system is interesting
Easy explanation of the magic world
Unique names
Loved the steam punk references
The memory loss gets a tad annoying but I can see why it made things exciting. Especially when you're not sure what's going to happen
The main character Bexley has now become one of my favorite female characters now because In the the sense she is one of the few fantasy characters to me that's like oh I would totally think like that etc. Or oh I would totally say that if I was in that situation. She can seem naive but if you were put in some of the situations that she was in you would be the same. And the males in this book were also funny but not quite on the book boyfriend list lol.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and I would recommend it to people who likes Storm Born but also people who like dystopian/fantasy 5/5 stars thank you @brindiful aka Brindi Quinn for the opportunity to read this e book I truly appreciate it.

Bex is a fiery, sassy, light-wielding badass with a tendency to get herself into all sorts of trouble. Her adventure explores a world of hazy, muddled memories to find out who the Wilted is and what her place is in this crazy, lore driven world. I couldn’t stop reading and can’t wait for the next installment :)

This books gets a very solid 4/5 stars from me! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
When I started this book I was a little apprehensive about it because at first I thought it was for a younger audience, BUT I WAS SO WRONG! This book had me hooked from the 5th page and I finished it within a day 😂
The romance is amazing and the friendships are so well built and I really relate to the main character Bexley. I adore the relationship between the three main characters (I’m not going to give away any spoilers though!) and the villains and twists and turns in it were so surprising!
