Centuries ago, dragons ruled the coastline of Scotland and men who fought them were considered heroes. One ghost from Culloden’s moor fears he will never be counted among the brave—until Soni gives him an opportunity that leads him deep into the past and makes him question what he believes about himself and the world around him.

As a shoemaker, no one thought to choose Patrick Lindsay when gathering forces to fight for Prince Charlie. Though included as an afterthought, Patrick is warmed by the soldierly camaraderie—and a glass or two too many of whisky. Grabbing the chance to prove his bravery, his trusting nature led him to his death on Culloden Moor. Now he’s been given a second opportunity to prove his worth. But will he again follow the crowd, or will he take a chance on real bravery?

Laila’s healing powers may seem like magic to some. And her secret friendship with Ormarr the Terrible would make her appear suspicious to many in her village. But when she’s caught between an injured dragon and a melancholy ghost, will the rumors of witchcraft prove too much?

This is book 26 in the series. You will want to read the first short story, The Gathering, for the background information on the Muir witch before you start the rest of the series. After that, each one can be read as a standalone.

Even being 26 books in with many, many more to go, I still enjoy this series.

This story takes a little bit of a different twist. This one has a bit of paranormal to it. A little more than our friendly ghosties.👻
I enjoyed Patrick’s shyness and gentle nature.
I will continue to read this series.

Patrick

One of the things I loved about this book is that Patrick was just a regular guy. . .not drop dead gorgeous with unbelievable strength and abilities. Yep, just a regular guy who went off to war because he wanted to be brave. I also liked that the story went back in time instead of forward. I really enjoyed this book in the series.

I thought for sure the new ideas must be done.

I have read every story so far to this point. I figured after 25 stories which share a starting place, there most likely would be a drying up of fresh ideas. I am pleasantly surprised! No tears and tissues need this time and glad I am for the break. Can't wait go see where we go from here...

Great read

It’s nice to find a story where an “ordinary” person finds that he is a quiet hero at heart, and the strength to love unafraid. I love the character of Soni and can’t wait to read her story. 💜

Dragons and magic

This tale didn't flow as easily as some of the others and seemed a bit slow to start.it still is a good tale of fun, adventure, magic and growing to learn who you truly are.

Fantastic

This is a fun story with a hint of danger. Patrick was a shoemaker before the war but all he wanted was to be a brave man. This has a surprise ending with a connection to Soni.

Another fantastic story in this series

Definitely a different path from the other stories, however, well written. I did feel there were some loose ends and some unanswered questions. All and all, a very enjoyable read.

He’s from her future she’s from the past

Patrick has his chance to do a brave deed, but he doesn’t feel very brave. The girl he’s trying to save is friends with a dragon so how brave can he be?

Surprised

This tale was quite different than all of the others in the series. We get to go back in time instead of forward or stay in the same. We learn of the distant past And we actually see fairies and dragons. Wonderful story

Much different than the others in this series. Patrick was the first highlander (besides Rabby)whose character wasn’t described as being gorgeous with a ridiculous body. It was a refreshing change.

(The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #26)

Patrick Lindsay was a shoemaker and as a shoemaker, nobody thought to choose him when gathering forces to fight for Prince Charlie. Though finally included as an afterthought he is warmed by the soldierly camaraderie with a glass or two of too much whiskey. Wanting to prove his bravery has now lead him to his death on Culloden Moor. Now he's been given a second chance to prove his worth, but what will happen now? Will he again follow the crowd, or will he finally take a chance on real bravery?

Laila's healing powers may seem like magic to some. And her secret friendship with Ormarr the terrible a huge shapeshifting dragon might make her seem suspicious to many in her village. But when she's caught between the injured dragon and a sad ghost, will the rumors of witchcraft prove too much?

Cathy MacRae did an absolutely fantastic job with this story. She will take you way back. Back to a time where shapeshifting dragon's flew though the air and just being a simple healer could get you burned at the stake for being too good at healing.

While The Ghosts of Culloden Moor stories can be read in any order you should read book The Gathering first as it explains how the ghosts came to be on Culloden Moor and how they met the witch Soni who gives them all their second chances.
