"His prisoner forever? But what about taking care of Papa? Or getting married, having children or raising my own family one day? No. I'm not a prisoner, no matter what he wants to say." Belle has to come to grips with moving to the castle and decide what she's going to do about it, her mischievous sister Daphne, ailing Papa, flighty horse and a whole slew of other problems.
Like a marriage proposal from Gustav that can only be resolved by kissing the village's handsome new merchant Ian when Gustav won't take no for an answer.
Belle reaches the castle only to find that her beast seems to have been tamed in some aspects, but grown wilder in other ways. Like kisses that make her toes curl and forget all about Ian, and definitely make her want Beast to do it again.
This is book 2 of the Beauty and the Beast portion of the Frisky Fairy Tales series, and is intended for mature audiences due to sexual content. It should NOT be read as a standalone.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, FAIRY TALE RETELLING BOOK 2 OF 4 Some spoilage - but still drinkable!
I am working my way through Nikki Dean's Frisky Fairy Tales. This review is for book TWO of the B&B retelling - there are four books for the Beauty and the Beast retelling in this series. Books 1 and 2, as expected, end in a cliffhanger!
I REALLY liked Book 1 and Book 2 (Captive)! Book 2, in its retelling, is NOT like Book 1.
Book 1 was like a rewrite of the Disney movie, including some famous lines from the film, with some slightly R-rated fantasies and imaginations on the part of the Beast. Though, like reading a novelization of the script - Book 1 was very entertaining! It made me want to watch the movie again! It was very short - maybe 70-odd pages.
Book 2 was different in its execution and quite a bit longer than Book 1. Like Book 1, it ends on a cliffhanger. To me, Book 2 is an accurate retelling of the original story, with a few author deviations, such as the addition of Belle's sister Daphne (who I am sure will end up with her own book). The rescue of wolf cubs - one of which I am sure is a werewolf! Making out with a complete stranger on the street to prove to Gustav (Gaston) that she really isn't interested in marrying him. Gustav calls Belle a 'slut'! Which doesn't happen in the movie or the original story! I am sure I would remember if it did. Now, I have a feeling about this complete stranger, but we aren't going to get into it until I am finished with the third book. But my twist radar was activated! There was also a chance meeting with Gustav in a forest he wasn't supposed to be hunting in. I believe that this was included in the story to emphasize how much of an a-hole he truly is - because up until now, his character wasn't as bad as some of the Bullies in Bully Romance tropes.
I love spicy reads - book 1, in my opinion, was not that spicy! I wanted the spice level to increase in Book 2 - and it did! Belle runs across a pornographic book in some books that a servant picks out for her to borrow from the Beast's library. The Beast discovers she has the book, a favourite of his when he was human, and Belle and the Beast have some orgasmic fun - but not full penetration! There was some sexual fantasizing, with both Belle and the Beast, and of course, a tiny internal monologue from the Beast that is ever so slightly 'R' rated. There is some language in Book 2 that wasn't there in Book 1. But the spice level is higher - which I wanted!
Be prepared for a cliffhanger; this is 2 of 4! Reasonably quick read, though not as short as Book 1, and a very accurate retelling of Beauty and the Beast with some author direction in some new areas.
Needs some light editing, waiting on the pieces to come together, because so far, all I'm getting are pieces that are not connecting. The relationship is flowing, but it's focusing on sexual tension rather than the actual relationship and how they are really becoming entwined romantically.
Belle continuously says she is viewed as odd, and no one really wants her because they want an empty headed bimbo trophy wife, but the only man really seeking her attentions is Gustav, and everyone else seem to adore Belle, at least the people she associates with....
I didn't realize this was a serious at first... I was in a reading slump and just happened to come across the first book in thus series. I have to say I pleasantly surprised! I live for dark & needy fairy tale retelling! Although it's not dark I'm loving how close it is to the original but with heat! 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 The build up is killing me!! I need Beast to go all beastly... If you know what I mean😉 Really quick read with humor and an actual love story that goes with goid stuff!!!! Looking forward to the next book
This is book 2 of Frisky Fairy Tales series, the second of the Beauty and the Beast mini-series, and it is a great retelling of a classic fairytale. This second book starts when Belle first returns to the castle as Beast's "prisoner". There are more graphic adult scenes in this book, so be prepared for them, though you can skip over them if you want. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, but be prepared for more sexual content!!
Ok, so I read this installment which had much more to it than the first and I keep waffling on it. There is some decent creativity within the framework of original fairytale but some of the dialogue is cringeworthy and just the way the main characters act make me feel like I'm watching a 90210 rerun or something (yep dated myself there, lol).
A like a good sexy cleaver fairy tale but this book was not one. Nikki Dean’s book was dull and not very entertaining. Story drags and characters are just two dimensional cut outs of the original fairy tale with some boring sex scenes dropped in the middle of chapters to try to break up the monotony. I can not recommend you waist your time or money on this book ☹️👎 AVOID GETTING IT!
From beginning to the end of this particular book I loved it ,I am so glad someone decided to write an adult version of all the fairy tales, just fantasy come to life for adults.
I’m continuing with the series but it’s definitely not my favorite. Seems very slow going, even with the books being so short. Hopefully it will pick up a bit more.
I don't like to go in depth when reviewing a book... I don't want to spoil the story.
I have enjoyed it so much, I couldn't put it down. It is written really, really well. I got pulled into the story straight away. Each character feels like someone you know by the end of the book. I love Beast, I wish my husband was a little more like him :'D
Good story, engaging, entertaining & left me feeling very frisky!
