Harvey Bennett is every man’s reluctant hero but when things go sideways, he steps up. These books are action packed, well plotted and tempered with humor. Enjoy!
I loved the continuing saga that played out over these three books. Each novel works as a stand alone book but are greatly enhanced by reading in order. I can only hope future Harvey Bennett thrillers are as good as the first three.
The Enigma Strain. When I reviewed The Golden Crystal & The Depths I commented that Thacker's writings were reminiscent of James Rollins. This book continues that thought! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. In this, his third book the characters were controlled and well developed. They are introduced in such a fashion that you can't wait to turn the next page and learn more about them, and the story-line even more so! The suspense builds both in the characters and the story. No spoiler's here. The Amazon Code. In this, the sequel to The Enigma Strain, the characters were controlled and well developed. They are introduced in such a fashion that you can't wait to turn the next page and learn more about them, and the story-line even more so! The suspense builds both in the characters and the story. Good read! When I reviewed earlier Thacker books I commented that his writings were reminiscent of James Rollins. This book continues that thought! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. In this, the third Harvey Bennet book, the characters are well developed after 2 previous works. You can't wait to turn the next page and learn more about them, and the story line even more so! The suspense builds both in the characters and the story, although "Ben Bennett" seems to be more of an agent than a park ranger, a bit of a stretch. No spoiler's here, though I will say I can't wait to read his next book!
Harvey Bennett Thrillers 1-3 - a review by Rosemary Kenny
An amazing value-for-money trilogy of the first three volumes from the wonderful Nick Thacker's Harvey Bennett Thrillers bring you a whole world of exciting and dramatic missions, detailing how the eponymous hero Harvey/'Ben' Bennett came to be the man he is today - events and characters that will leave you breathlessly eager for more!
The Enigma Strain: Harvey 'Ben' Bennett is a semi-reclusive park ranger in Yellowstone National Park, when he's forced to react to a devastating eco-terrorist attack - a so-called 'dirty bomb', loaded with the eponymous Enigma Strain, as well as its massive explosive capability.
Many are killed instantly and many many more thousands will die from the deadly virus, if it explodes, but Ben's first priority is to raise the alarm in case the Yellowstone caldera erupts and devastates both human life and anything else in its path. Ben enlists the help of MC Juliette/'Julie' Richardson and they fight bravely against the odds, daring everything and anything Nature - or an evil enemy can throw at them Very short chapters and plenty of exciting adventure in a variety of scenarios keeps this thriller very fast-paced and gives the reader a sense of the urgency of Ben and Julie's mission to save as many people as they can before the deadly Strain kills everyone they know and love in the most dreadful manner.
The Amazon Code: Harvey aka Ben Bennett and the newly-formed (covert US Government-commissioned CSO) Team he now leads are still in pursuit of the mysterious organisation, who engineered the release of the deadly, so-called Enigma Strain. A nefarious plot by their enemy, involving a (literal) dream machine and generic dreams that reveal the whereabouts of an ancient artefact, that the CSOs must do all they can, to prevent its falling into the wrong hands. Rather generic tropes of jungle warfare and the quest to find the list city of gold, El Dorado, were the only reason for making this a 4 instead of 5 star review, but it's still a great escape from your Covid-19 fears and Lockdown Blues, for sure!
The Ice Chasm: The scenario changes climate from one extreme to the other in Nick Thacker's thrilling The Ice Chasm, in a Where Eagles Dare-like adventure in the frozen wasteland of the Antarctic. Julie, Joshua, Reggie, Jonathan Coulson, the mysterious Mrs E and of course Harvey (aka Ben) take part in a do-or-die world-changing mission, that leads to an altered-reality experience followed by an epic battle between the Team, Asian and US mercenaries and a megalomaniac's life's-work that must be stopped at all costs.
Read all three of Nick Thacker's riveting all-action thrillers, if you dare to reveal a variety of heart-stopping, mind-blowing dystopian near-future possibility plots, that seem all too horrifyingly enactable! Grab your copy today and buckle up for a rip-roaring, world-wide, wild adventure with Ben and the Team!
THE ENIGMA STRAIN by Nick Thracker. A bomb goes off in Yellowstone Park, releases a virus, into the air, killing people. Ben teams up with Juliette a CDC agent, to find out who was behind the terriosm. When the threat becomes personal they decide to find out and end it. A chase, against time, the military, that keeps you to the end. THE AMAZON CODE The break through she knew she could do it. They were seeing into a person, and theIr dreams. Then the hidden message appears, and the adventure begins, covering the globe to the Amazon Rainforest. The suspense follows to the end. THE ICE CHASM Roald had been alone before, the frozen nothingness was everywhere, cutting thru him. Trudging, the killing wind , when he notice something in the ice.. Hours passed, all he could tell it was a square metal plate, digging more, he finds it was a door. Door lead to somewhere. Once again the author has captured us, in this frozen land, what did he uncover. Action packed, and full of intrigue.
Harvey Bennett adventures have made their way into my favorite books. Book 3, The Ice Chasm is a great story, introducing us to Artificial Intelligence in a whole new light, a bit scary but extremely interesting at the same time. Ben (Harvey) and his friends are on another great adventure, doing what's right and taking down villains, this time in frozen Antarctica. I have to admit, I read books 4 & 5 before I bought this one. If I have to rate them, I'd say book 3 is #1, followed very closely by book 5 then book 2, book 4 and book 1. They're all great but Book 3 is the best in my opinion. Keep up the great work Nick. I can't wait to get my hands on more books from this series as well as start on your other series.
These three books are addicting and enjoyable reads. The first book pulls you into the second, and the second pulls you into the third. If you’re looking for realism and logic in the plots and storyline these won’t give you either. But there is just enough to keep you turn the pages to get to the endings. I do suspect that these these are just a precursor to another sequel, which I will pulled into reading.
This is not great writing but it is highly entertaining pepperoni pizza for the brain.
Kindle Unlimited and although had The Enigma Strain and The Amazon Code didn't have Ice Chasm so thru kindle unlimited to get the 3 pack.Even if hadn't gotten 'free' with ku, well worth the time to read, and not my usual genre {more mystery less thriller} but enjoyed them.
This is one of the e Best books I've read, Nick Thacker is definitely one of the best writers out there! His books always take the readers on action packed rides, filed with action, adventure, excitement, intrigue, and thrills which have its on watch for the next adventure. Great Read!!😃
Clever that there are three books in one. I wanted to know what happened but was willing the last two to end quickly. In the third book the name Richardson popped up. Why? Julie or Juliette? Jules is fine as that is what Ben calls Julie. Overly long in my opinion and unnecessary dialogue.
This series is a fabulous adventure filled thrilling series... I LOVED this set (Books 1-3)!!! The characters, locations and stories are amazing... filled with so much detail, you feel like you're there too... I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves heart-stopping adventure, thrills, and just rewards... 5 Stars from me... LOVED it!!!
Enjoyed these books which were a change of pace for me. I'm not judging anything technology wise. They ARE fiction. Seem to me a little far fetched that the team could prevail against such high odds, but fun to read
A terrific 3 book set of adventure with a nice sprinkle of human interest
The Harvey Bennett 3 book sequel was a non stop action saga that transported from Yellowstone to the Amazon to the Anartic with Bob stop action and humour
Thoroughly enjoyed the plots, people, written in a interesting and descriptive writing style. Clean, enthralling action and clean romance. Highly recommend for action, mystery and (for the last plot) computer lovers!
Well written intrigue and adventure with dynamic and believable characters!
Thoroughly enjoyed the process of unveiling the layers of the characters within the many story layers. Great books! Looking forward to remaining books in the series.
I really enjoyed reading these books . I could not hardly put them down, especially the Ice Chasm. Glad to have finally found out who was orchestrating everything. I like the characters of Ben and Julie.
As I was listening to these stories, I realized I had previously read all three of these stories. I remembered enjoying them and can state listening was just as enjoyable, not only because of Nick Thacker’s stories but Mike Vendetti’s narration which really brings Harvey Bennet to life.
Well written adventure, mystery, suspense and danger. Harvey aBennett stumbles throughout but gaining the upper hand each time as well as asking for Julie’s hand in marriage.
Thrill ride from start to finish. Action packed stories filled with believable, realistic characters and descriptive scenery. Highly recommend! Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I love the way Nick Thacker's mind works! These stories were so exciting and had everything I want in novel! Danger, intrigue and even a little romance. I couldn't put the books down! Can't wait to read what comes next!
I read the first two but they are so long that they almost get tedious. I started on the third book but I just couldn’t get into it. I think the author dragged this whole storyline out way too long.
Though at times these books are a bit unrealistic, I really enjoyed the high paced action and unpredictable nature of these adventures, especially the unique interpretation of El Dorado
Read the set. I liked the Yellowstone Park story the best (Book 1). The other 2 stories took place in the Amazon and then the Antarctica. All three had great chase/escape stories but got a little more Sci-Fi.
