সুকুমার রায়ের জন্মশতবর্ষে তাঁর সমগ্র রচনাবলীর একটি পরিমার্জিত সংস্করণ তিন খণ্ডে প্রকাশিত হয়। জন্মশতবার্ষিকী সংস্করণের এই প্রথম খণ্ডে পূর্ববর্তী সংস্করণের বহু রচনার আদ্যোপান্ত পরিমার্জনা করা হয়েছে। এই কাজটি হয়েছে সংগৃহীত পাণ্ডুলিপি বা প্রথম প্রকাশিত পাঠের উপর নির্ভর করে। এই খণ্ডের পরিশেষে "গ্রন্থ পরিচয়" অংশটিও কিছু প্রয়োজনীয় পাঠান্তর ও আরো অতিরিক্ত তথ্য সংযোগে পরিবর্ধিত করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া পূর্ববর্তী সংস্করণের মূল কাঠামোটিকেই বজায় রাখা হয়েছে।

About the author

Sukumar Ray (Bangla: সুকুমার রায়) was a Bengali humorous poet, story writer and playwright. As perhaps the most famous Indian practitioner of literary nonsense, he is often compared to Lewis Carroll.

His works such as the collection of poems Aboltabol (Bengali: আবোলতাবোল), novella HaJaBaRaLa (Bengali: হযবরল), short story collection Pagla Dashu (Bengali: পাগলা দাশু) and play Chalachittachanchari (Bengali: চলচিত্তচঞ্চরী) are considered nonsense masterpieces equal in stature to Alice in Wonderland, and are regarded as some of the greatest treasures of Bengali literature. More than 80 years after his death, Ray remains one of the most popular of children's writers in both West Bengal and Bangladesh.

He was the son of famous Bengali writer Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury and the father of the renowned film-maker Satyajit Ray.

" পড়নি কো সুকুমার,
খাবে তুমি মার এবার"

জ্বী, বাঙালি সন্তানের আবোল-তাবোল, হ-য-ব-র-ল, পাগলা দাশু কিংবা অবাক জলপান পড়াটা অতিঅবশ্য বটে। তাই দেরিতে হলেও পরিচয় হয়েই গেল শ্রীকাক্কেশ্বর কুচকুচের স্রষ্টা সুকুমার রায়ের সঙ্গে।
লোকে কেন একে শিশুসাহিত্য বলে বুঝিনা। এ হল ৮ থেকে ৮০ সকলের সাহিত্য।

একে কি শিশুসাহিত্য বলা উচিত?কখনোই না।সব বয়সের সবার জন্যে এই বই।নিখাদ,নির্মল আনন্দ পেতে চাইলে আর দেরি না করে পড়ে ফেলুন সুকুমার রায়ের এই অসামান্য সৃষ্টি।বাংলা পদ্যে আর কেউ এমন নিখাদ আনন্দ দিতে পারেনি আর পারবেও না।

আফসোস একটাই,মানুষটা দীর্ঘজীবী হলেন না।

The book, Sukumar Roy Sahitya Samagra Vol 1 by Satyajit Ray and Partha Basu is a remarkable and excellent classic. Stories of "Pagla Dashu" are so funny that you are definitely laughing while reading it. Also, to talk about the poems, they are full of rhythm and comedy. It was my first time reading poems and I have really enjoyed all of them. The book will take you on an imaginary ride to your childhood memories. I would highly recommend the book. Also, 5 stars for the book.
