Ayanami seems to be a really powerful opponent, being able to control half souls and planning his moves precisely. I really like him :) More information about the Eye of Mikhail and the Seven Ghosts is given, and some more glimpses of Teitos past are shown. Frau had to decide between saving the Eye or saving Teito, a really nice move... Hakuren and Teito are becoming really good friends as they prepare for the Exam. The introduction of Bishop Lance was quite funny :D The exam is interesting, having to answer 100 questions in different situations, could be rather difficult. The idea of the door of the victor and the door of the defeated is a great idea and the short preview of the second part of the exam teases. Threatening atmosphere!
Hlavní hrdina nevykonal pomstu a místo toho svému nepříteli pomohl. :D Jako what?
Ayanami’s agents act when Ayanami’s flagship advances upon District 7, ready to carry off Teito Klein and the Eye of Mikael. Not that Frau, Castor, or a surprisingly resourceful Hakuren Oak are about to let that happen. A battle in the air within the air between various hawkziles forces Frau to make a choice. Which does he want to save more? The Eye of Mikael or Teito?
Not that this will be the end of Teito’s troubles if he escapes. He still has to pass the Bishop’s exam which isn’t going to be easy…
So much was happening in the panels, it was hard to keep track of everything. Sometimes the dialogue confused me. There was no question the artwork was beautiful and fast paced. Frau’s rivalry with Ayanami and his subordinates was taken to the next level, even as we learned more about those subordinates. The same was true of Ayanami’s enmity/predatory intentions towards Teito, Teito’s friendship with Hakuren, and his growing bond with Frau. The interaction between Ayanami and Labrador was quite intriguing, suggesting an underlying layer with this particular ghost. Most about the seven ghosts, the church, the Barsburg Empire, and the kingdom of Raggs was revealed through the introduction of new characters and the development of the old, depicted in a fast moving story which kept me turning the pages. For all of these things, I give this four stars.
Ayanami’s goons aka the Black Hawks, escape yet again. Also Aya can control souls and be in people’s bodies. Teito realizes the eye in his hand has a mind of its own.
Kuroyuri and Haruse attack again, they also might have more a relationship than just being army mates, they kidnap Teito but Frau saves them. Haruse gets a healing flower inside him while Teito gets a wars fragment. Haruse sacrifices himself and the stone leaves Teito.
Hyuga (glasses Black Hawk) gets the stone while Frau saves Teito from a great fall when the army attempts to invade the church capital. Rumor has it the church wants to bring back the Raggs kingdom (also remember that the death god’s body is still missing).
Also Shuuri (Shuri) passed the army test. Bishop Lance appears to give out the final bishop test. Teito changes out of his mourning clothes into student attire. Mikage is a ‘fyulong’ dragon after all. The test is based on your past and how kind you are and if you could help others.
The ‘Holy War’ that sealed Verloren was called the ‘Schedel Crusade’ and its hinted that the seven ghosts are not sent from Heaven or are even angels, but are segmented pieces that were once part of Verloren.
Frau and Teito talk about Bastian’s betrayal. Bastian comes back a tree.

I had to reread volumes 1-3 because this was one of the victims of the publisher collapse a few years back. I didn't even realize someone else had picked it up. It had been a handful of years since I last read it. In recap, Teito runs from the imperial army, losing his best friend Mikage (now reborn as a little dragony thing), in the process. Teito hasn't many memories of the past and is the vessel for something known as the eye of Mikhal which could save or destroy the world. He wants revenge on Ayanami for killing Mikage and three bishops, Frau, Castor and Labrador are helping him (the three house three of the 7 ghosts, gods, while Ayanami seems to house the villain of the piece).
This one revolves around the church where Teito and his new partner Haruken (new friend, close friend, very quickly. He's also from the Oak family which is all in politics and the military, very important and he's more or less disowned because he wants to join the church to fight the kor, sort of demons that possess and destroy people). Teito and Haruken are up for their bishop exams (which would allow Teito free, unchallenge travel so he can track his nemesis)
In the middle of this, Ayanami's crew attack and things go sideways for Teito and he suffers an important loss. He still has to move forward in spite of it.
I do like this manga but it is very convoluted sometimes too much so. I've had to reread a few spots to figure out what is going on. On the whole, I like the art but sometimes Teito's hair is left uncolored and that adds to the confusion.

I found this manga really interesting, but i found that the anime which is based on the first 4 volumes has more detail than the manga.. I found this strange. Watching the anime caused me to want to read the manga again because the first time i had only read the first 5 volumes I think the others hadn't come out yet.
I won't go into details about the plot because i might confuse other readers, I believe it better for them to read it on their own. Believe me anyone who likes manga with comedy, drama, fighting, etc. should give this manga a read.
Another ghost appears and struggles at first with a servant of Chief Ayanami. Chief Ayanami can control half of a soul just like he did with Mikage. Teito and Hakuren are preparing for the bishop exam and a little more is revealed about the Eye of Mikhail
Again I have to say that while this is a bit confusing, when it isn't confusing it's fantastic. Basically it's a whole bunch of boys and their best friends, fighting together, loving each other... it isn't BL, but it's... emotion porn, maybe. (That sounds dirtier than I mean it to be, but it's just... intense.) Anyway, good stuff, and I'm holding out hope that it'll all make sense in the end.
For some reason I found this one to be rather confusing and chaotic. It could have been the length of time between reading Vol.3 and 4, but regardless it was a little hard to follow.
