So, I kind of zoomed through about 50 chapters, and I really do not have the will to review each and every single volume I've read so far, so I'm just gonna go with: this manga is sublime. Magnificent. Phenomenal. Insert more synonyms of "incredible" here. :P

So, this one gave more information. So it should help to understand, right? I kinda got more confused. The information about the Kor and the three wishes, introducing Wars and Warsfeil... I didn`t really get that. It seemed to be explained in a hurry and I even read it a few times to understand it. Then I forgot it again...
Also the speech bubbles were sometimes quite confusing; you just don`t know who is talking right now, what makes it even more difficult to understand. And when Ayanami held two talks with completely different topics at the same time that finished me off.

The story was again really nice, a traitor in the church, I have never expected him to be it! And getting information about the past of Frau was really interesting, hope there will be coming more. Little Frau reminds me a little bit of Teito. Bastien seems to be a really complex person.
I am looking forward to the next one, maybe we get more information about Ayanami

I can imagine it would be better if I'd watched the anime first to gain the proper context.

There is just too much being stuffed into the plot and at the same time, too much being left out. The action scenes are busy and confusing. The world building is heavy-handed. And worst of all, the panel transitions are absolutely atrocious!

I imagine the characters have some charm (it's difficult to tell under all of that "world-building"), and panel-for-panel the art isn't bad in this series. But the story-telling (and possibly even the translation) is so messy that I just can't continue.

man i enjoy this series, like there's all this love and friendship stuff to give me feelings and there's the confusing battles and worldbuilding to give me an intellectual challenge!

also everybody's cute which totally helps with the feelings, i will not lie

and yay hakuren! i thought he was going to be a jerk and instead, friendship after one volume! good going bro, you keep that up

and now i am going to explain the plot to myself as an exercise in 'do i even understand what is going on????'

so there's a d. gray man style situation going on with the warsfeil, who are the result of faustian bargains. three wishes for your soul!

except the three wish thing is something already set up? by god? so like you get three wishes and then you die OR you sell your soul to the devil

except the devil is called verloren because yolo

i don't really understand how this three wish situation works though because like when do you decide on your wishes? does god go around killing kids who get their hands on the three amazing cakes they asked for? do parents present 'be careful what you wish for' very VERY seriously? inquiring minds want to know

also the church has seven ghosts who are basically exorcists. i think. they can free souls from warsfeil so i'm calling them exorcists

frau is one of these exorcists but when he gets his battle on he has a reaper costume? and possibly his soul is separated from his body? i think this may be a bleach style situation?

also the church has enough political power to offer sanctuary to criminals even when the state makes faces and grumbles about punishment

however, not enough political power to do something when army people break in to steal their people. so yeah idk, i could use some clarification there. maybe later volumes will break it down for me

also reincarnation is a thing and you can choose what you reincarnate as. thus teito's cute bunny thing which was formerly his bff mikage!

probably there will be some politicking with noble families if hakuren's backstory is any indication

and that dear friends, is what i understand of 07-ghost! ONWARDS

Z nějakého neznámého důvodu mě totiž hrozně moc zasáhlo to, že všude najednou nastal mír. Hlavní hrdina nevykonal pomstu a místo toho svému nepříteli pomohl. :D Jako what? Vážně jsem to nechápala. :D
Obálky vypadají docela hezky, některé dokonce i velmi dobře.

A series of murders take place within District 7 behind sanctuary walls and Frau finds himself accused of being the culprit. Teito Klein and Hakuren Oak race to find the true killer, even while the other bishops urge them to concentrate on their upcoming exam. Little do the boys know that Teito’s enemies are setting a trap, not just for Teito, but for Frau as well, now that they know who the bishop truly is and what he bears. What Ayanami and his minions do not realize is that Bishop Castor is setting a trap of his own for Frau and Teito’s enemies and like Frau, he’s got a few dangerous tricks up his sleeve.

Another fast moving story, packed with character development was delivered in this volume. Frau and Hakuren got many a moment, the former revealing an attachment to Teito which may be more than it seems. Only it is to Teito or to the Eye of Mikhail, which has a mind and personality of its own, hiding within Teito’s hand? Hakuren shows his motivation for becoming a bishop in defiance of his father and the Oak family. We also learn just how devious not only Ayanami, but his minions can be, along with how vulnerable. Menacing as they might be to Teito and those close to Teito, they appear to have genuine attachments to each other. Castor, on the other hand, displays a talent for trickery and a menace equal to Frau, Ayanami, or any of Ayanami’s minions, offering a hint of his own purpose and secrets. The danger to Teito, however, who continues to be menaced by the dark, spiritual powers of Ayanami’s agents continues to keep this reader on her toes. Right now it’s Teito’s allies more than Teito himself who are fighting back agains them while Teito himself strives to learn how to fight back, training and growing. He’s coming to admit how much he cares about Frau and Hakuren amidst the perils which unfold in this story. For delivering all of these things in the same attractive, dream-like, yet exciting art style, I give this four stars.

As Teito trains, he slowly becomes friends with Hakuren. Ayanami’s follower, Kuroyuri (and Haruse?), attacks them with a ‘wars’ (a soul tainted by a Kor after having all three wishes granted. They escape when Frau comes to rescue them. Kor are trying to raise Verloren by filling the world with darkness. Fea Kreuz is introduced, sort of, he is kind of just an apparition but Teito says he remembers him raising him. The bishop said that isn’t probable because a long time ago Fea was excommunicated for stealing the coffin of Verloren.

In the turmoil, Kuroyuri frames Frau with the deaths of several criminals and a darkly enchanted knife. Frau is placed in jail but everyone knows he is innocent and are trying to set a trap for the person who is really behind everything. Meanwhile Bastian helps Teito and Hakuren try to find the bad guy. Bastian explains he raised Frau and loves him like a son. It’s also hinted that there might be something to Frau’s powers.

Unfortunately, its revealed that Bastian is the mole! He wanted to turn Teito into a wars for the empire! And he had been using dark magic from peoples sins in order to achieve his goals. Frau secretly escapes his jail cell and shows up in the nick of time to save them. All while Kuroyuri and Castor face off.

This volume got a little confusing and you can see the reveal coming from a mile away. But hey there’s a cool skeleton with a scythe so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Its sad to see Frau say goodbye to his father figure. Also Castor might be “feist” or “Fest” as Viz media later translated it, and there is still a mystery about the hybrids with only half a soul.

I love the foreshadowing of Frau's life. Where it's connected with Hakuren's.

I mean we get to see how Hakuren think of Frau as his personal saviour and then we get to see Frau's troubled childhood and how he'd go into the night and save people.

I don't really get how Frau is also Zehel, did he get that power after he's older? Or inherited?

There's also a parallel between Frau's and Teito's life. They had suffered huge losses and get a great father figure. Well now, said father figure showed that they're also human and have personal agenda....

Bastien's story was just sad.

Father Fea is up for discussion, we don't know everything yet.

This is where the story really picks up! I found this volume to be fast paced and I got a handle on both the characters and the plot. Time is spent here also giving us some much needed background on various major characters which really pulled things together for me and I found myself enjoying the story to such an extent that I'm actually eager to read the next volume at this point. I still find the battle scenes a little confusing but they tend to be explained *after* they are completed. This book was very much character driven and focused on the various friendships that have developed. I agree with the publisher's Teen 13+ rating but not because of violence, there isn't any beyond battle scenes that aren't graphic in the remotest, but more because of the use of profanities (mostly d*mn & b*st*rd). I'm definitely going to continue on with volume 4!

~3.5/5

I really want to catch up on this series, but it’s rather hard to find right now. Annoyingly enough. I’m also annoyed that Go Comi’s editions have colored pages, and yet VIZ’s new editions don’t. What’s up with that?

There’s a lot of serious stuff happening right now. Fighting, and running, and getting caught. New enemies being introduced, more showdowns.

I like the main character a lot, and I like his friendship with the reincarnated creature, as well as the relationships forming with the other characters. The artwork is nice, and the story is very interesting. The humor is also quite funny to me.

I want to read more, and I hope to get my hands on more of the series soon.

A big theme of this series is love...love in so many forms--love for family, for friends, for children, for each other. Love causes all the events in the world to happen...whether those events lead to destruction or salvation. This is a good volume where we learn a little about the rowdy Bishop Frau--but I wonder, as he is one of the Seven Ghosts (Zehel), how did he HAVE a childhood? But it may be that the Ghosts get reborn...as this world's church says that all human souls (not consumed by Kor) do. So...until more volumes are released in English (I don't plan to go looking for spoilers online), I'll have to wait and see where the series is going!

Teito and Hakuren Oak learn a little more about each other since they are forced to be roommates. Teito and Hakuren get into some trouble and Frau comes to their rescue. Besides Kors to worry about they now have to worry about a being known as the "Wars" and to make matters even more difficult Frau is framed for a crime that he didn't commit.

Overall this was an intense volume filled with a budding new friendship and a traitor within the church. While it is sometimes hard to follow the elements keep drawing you back to find out more and more about the history of the characters as well as trying to figure out what will happen in the future of their journeys.

I found this manga really interesting, but i found that the anime which is based on the first 4 volumes has more detail than the manga.. I found this strange. Watching the anime caused me to want to read the manga again because the first time i had only read the first 5 volumes I think the others hadn't come out yet.

I won't go into details about the plot because i might confuse other readers, I believe it better for them to read it on their own. Believe me anyone who likes manga with comedy, drama, fighting, etc. should give this manga a read.

I read a really good review on mangaupdates where the reviewer said: "I loved it.. when I could tell what was happening." And the same goes for me.

The fight scenes especially are horribly confusing, but you know, I don't mind that as long as I get all the other stuff. I am a sucker for stories that are all about love and friendship, and in that regard "07-Ghost" more than delivers. I'll definitely keep on reading this.

Storyline continues to be confusing, and for the most part, the characters aren't as interesting as promised in the first volume. I'm giving up on this series.
