Beyond Layers—Samantha Grant's HEA.

Years after the tragic death of her fiancé, Samantha Grant finds herself on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She needed a break from her crazy-busy life, she finds ... oh my, so much more.

Samantha Grant
The sand is smoother farther down the beach but this is the perfect place for my now daily ritual. What daily ritual, you ask? Watching sex-on-a-kabob run past my cottage, of course. He runs by twice a day. Once at 7:00 a.m. then again at precisely 3:15 p.m. Oh, how this girl loves a prompt man.

Logan Romano
I walk to the door and open it. Dear sweet Jesus. One look at her and all thoughts of not…you know, fly out the window. The woman is a gift from God and I couldn't wait to open her.

Beyond Layers (Layers #4) by T.L. Alexander Samantha Grant thinks she is cursed.  The people she loves, end up dying.  So when she meets NHL star, Logan Romano, she tries to make sure she doesn’t get to emotionally attached to him.  However, Logan has other plans.  This contemporary romance takes place in North Carolina and New York.  It is suitable for adults.

T.L. Alexander does a fantastic job with her character development.  Her characters are complex and believable.  Samantha is an admiral heroine.  She is intelligent and a humanitarian.  She has a wonderful relationship with her sister.  She is a good person that has great values.  Logan is a fun hero.  He is tired of flings and wants a relationship.  Being a hockey player, he is used to women falling all over him, until Samantha.  He is determined and caring.

I like how Samantha and Logan meet.  Samantha wants nothing to do with a relationship and just agrees to a fling, never giving him her last name.  Logan is intrigued by Samantha and does everything he can to learn more about her.  Logan is usually the person to want the one-night-stand; the tables have been turned on him.  He wants a relationship with Samantha.

The plot was well done and intriguing.  Being a high-profile individual, Samantha has a stalker.  This adds excitement to the story and unexpected twist. Both characters have numerous obstacles to overcome in this story.  There are a lot of interesting things that happen throughout the story that held me captivated.  I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Ahh so said to see this series end. I've been following this series for some time now and although I'm sad to see it come to a close, I'm so glad that Samantha got to tell her story.

If you have been following along this series ( which you totally should btw) then you know our baby girl Samantha has not always had it easy, and then you get that devastating news at the end of book 3 and its just like * drops the mic, and walk off" done! I was just a mess to say the least. But after dealing with her emotions she still can't seem to get herself together and escapes to the beach. Atta girl! I'd do the same damn thing, Sam. All a women needs is the beach, a cute bikini and some drink, and by some I mean none ending, of course. And what does our girl Sam see as she takes in her new home away from home? Oh, but a sexy sexy man running by not one but twice a day. Oooo and is this man something to behold!!

Enter Logan Romano, the sexy as sin hockey player who is getting back into shape for his new team, the New York Rangers!! I don't know what it is but athletes are so hot, and hockey players at that?!? Wowza!!! I think it's all that rage and having the ok to rough each other up on the ice * dreamy sigh*.... Annnnnywhoo don't get me start on Mr. Romano cause I just won't stop and then I'll have to excuse myself for some ... Ok and we are moving on.

But, as we all know when somethings too good to be true, somebodies got to rock the boat and then bam mommy and daddy are fighting again. But what fun would it be if we didn't have a little chase, and groveling?? About as much as a limp noodle, and we all know it ain't much fun. Plus how can we enjoy the sweet, dirty, hot, amazingly wicked things that come out of Logan's mouth with out some angst? Yeah, you'e right, we would of eaten it up either way. God, and that epilogue?? Loved it!!

I really enjoyed this authors writing and I won't be stopping just because this series is over, she is just too awesome! I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to become a puck bunny for a sexy, overbearingly, hot jealous alpha hockey stud.

There was a little bit of a curve ball in one of the friend's relationship that just threw me. Main story wasn't as involved as the others were. Still good though ; p

What a way to finish out the series

Samantha's world was rocked when Lane, her fiancé, was shot and killed two years ago, I am still finding it hard to believe that he was killed off but anyway - I guess if he wasn't Sam wouldn't have found the absolute perfect guy for her.

Samantha has relocated to the Outer Banks, North Carolina where she is hoping to regroup and maybe have a mindless fling with Mr. Sex on a sick that she watches run past her on the beach twice a day for a week.
Logan is a hockey player that is home recovering from an injury, and while he is running on the beach doing his rehab he sees an Angel. Can Samantha and Logan have a mindless fling without getting tangled up with unwanted emotions? What if they go into it with no knowledge of the other person, no personal information exchanged, no last names, nothing about their true identity being revealed? Would that make a difference?

Beyond Layers (Layers Series 4) by T.L. Alexander

The chemistry between Logan and Samantha was great, I LOVED that they started innocently flirting while on the beach, it was a great lead in to the obvious attraction they had for one another. This book did have a bunch of twists and turns, you never knew if things were going to work out for them or not...seriously you have a short fling with someone that you know nothing about and then when you are back in the real world you have to believe that its over no matter how much you wish you were because you DIDN'T EVEN GET THEIR LAST NAME! LOL

Once again I will say that I am sorry to see this sexy, suspenseful, laugh out loud, series come to an end.

My Review:

Score! I am in love with all the characters in the Layer’s series and don’t want it to come to an end, but of all the smartly written books in the series, I loved this installment the most. I tend to avoid series as I am prone to forgetting too many salient details between volumes, but that was not a problem for me here as Ms. Alexander’s writing is exquisite and more than memorable. Her plot lines are lively, fun, entertaining, deliciously steamy, yet also insightful and moving. I tend to devour her books as I cannot seem to put them down or read them fast enough, although I also want to savor the sparkling dialogs that are infused with clever humor and witty banter. She has mad skills and I want to read every word she ever puts on a page. Sigh, I wonder if she could be bribed into continuing this series into infinity.

I tried very hard to hate this book because it was not over Alexia and Jaxon. With three books and being addicted to their story. This book has just as much sizzle in telling Samantha's story as it does for her sister Alexia.

Samantha "Sam" is left picking up the pieces from a broken heart. Her fiancee' was murdered protecting her sister from Mia. She seeks solace in a log cabin. Hearing the story of the owner's struggles, Sam does what her Grant's wealth lets her do to help them. She is wanting to relax and ignore the world until she sees Logan "Romeo" Romano jogging by like clockwork. He brings a jolt to her body that she tries to ignore. Her pain and sorrow is still fresh in her heart and she refuses to fall for the sexiest man God put on the Earth.

Logan has his own demons to fight and hides in his glass box house. He is a professional hockey player who has a long line of groupies keeping his bed warm. He has no interest to fall in love with a woman to tie him down, until he sees her. He has never had to chase a woman him before usually they flock to him. But he knew in his heart, body, and soul that Sam is the "one."

Given the Grant name, one must expect the press and the endless meetings. When Alexia gets further along in her pregnancy and Jaxs refuses to let her work Sam has to do it all. She has no time for love and her heart isn't healed enough to let Logan inside. When she runs into him at a coffee cafe' she feels those sexual desire coals igniting!

The same lust, tragedy, family, and drama is in this book with the same gusto as the previous books. I love how each book is connected and flows smoothly. Each event is so detailed that you can assume that the Author has worked hard to get it right.

I know the book ended too soon and once again I was left wanting more! It was storming at my home, electricity off, and I didn't care because I was lost in Layer's! I was given this book to review from the author/publisher through Reading Alley and in exchange I give my unbiased opinion.

Funny, sexy and romantic….4.5 stars!

Beyond Layers is the fourth book in the Layers series. After two years, Samantha is slowly recovering from the senseless murder of her fiance, Lane. Though she still mourns the loss of what her life could have been, she’s all but shut that part of her heart that feels love, only doing casual no-strings hookups.
At 28, Samantha’s days are devoted to her architectural firm and the family business, Grant International. She buys a seaside cottage in North Carolina on impulse and that’s when she comes across one tanned, muscled Adonis. His daily runs become Samantha’s flirting game of hand signals and salutes. Can the stirrings of interest and desire be finally coming back? Samantha only wants a no-string, no-last-name hookup, only a friendship based on first names, insisting on hiding the truth behind her family’s wealth and power.

Logan “Romeo” Romano is recouping from a hockey injury. He looks forward to his daily jogging run to flirt right on que with the blond down the road from his condo. And he’s intrigued why she’s not fawning all over him like his usual hockey bunnies. Logan recognizes a kindred soul in Samantha, a scarred and wounded heart filled with regrets. He can’t believe the one woman that he wants is hiding her heart to keep from being hurt. Can they both face their fears and heal together?

Beyond Layers has the signature humor and witticism I’ve come to expect from TL Alexander. It is wonderful story of healing, redemption and romance. I just love how Logan and Samantha begin to trust in love again. There was great chemistry between them and great love scenes. We also catch up with Alex, Jax, the three boys, and essentially another family funny fest with the Grant family. Loved the hilarious dialogue and witty banter. Beyond Layers is sexy, funny and romantic. An enjoyable story with an epilogue that ties everything together. I hope we learn more about Jules’ predicament and that she gets her HEA. I highly recommend this book.

I was so happy to get Sams story. But I have to say its the cameos that really do it for me.
Sam is scared, and I get it , but sometimes I just wanted to scream to get over herself.
All in all its a great end to the series but I wouldn't be opposed to see more in the future, even just cameos in other series!

All I can say is NOOO! !! This is the last and final book of the Layers series and I am so sad. I have to say that this book was just as awesome as the other 3 books of this series. I enjoyed how each book connected together and beginning in book 1 all the lives of every character begins to unfold and you learn truth. This series is a great story of family, love, chemistry, understanding, faithfulness, and learning. Thank you Reading Alley and TJ Alexander for allowing me to read and write a honest review of this book.

Aaaaah What can I say, Girlfriends…
Thi book reached all my expectations in the Layers Series… and I’m so sad it comes to an end.

But still, TL Alexander gave us “closure” with Sam story, we discovered things we didn’t knew / expected from her relationship with her fiancé and this last book was so great…

My only “but” could be that it felt a little “short”, because I was so unprepared to close the “LOL Series”, but in a way, I am very grateful we’ve got a “standalone” love story and not another trilogy (it seems nowadays any love story must be a tri/for/hundred-logy…).

In the positive side… well like always, we have so much LOL/ROLF/sex, but also angst and love and tenderness too…

This could sound biased but, a few weeks ago I didn’t knew anything about TL Alexander, and know I’m a huge fan. After reading the Layers Series, I “know” I’ll love any book she’ll write. The way she mixes the perfect amount of humor, drama, love, sexiness, those characters you can only adore… reading those books is just bliss, whenever you are it feels so good to live in a “LOL bubble” (just make sure you don’t burst out laughing in the middle of a crowd, in the bus, or any public place… or at home when your family could think you’ve definitely lost it… just saying….)

And I “only” give it 4 stars because I want the standards to get higher and higher next time ; )

So go Girlfriends and get those books!

I hate to see this series end!!
I loved Sam and Logan's story. Sam thinks she is cursed and can feel that Logan is a tortured soul as well. What was supposed to be a fling has started to turn in to a mess of emotions that Sam can't handle and she walks away from her hot hockey player. The only thing Logan knows about Sam is she lives in NYC. After reconnecting and screwing it up Logan is floored to find out who Sam really is and he is determined to not loss her again, but Sam is scared that she will get Logan killed and would rather walk away again rather than loss him. When Logan's secrets are revealed at a family dinner will Sam leave him for good after hearing the truth? I loved the push and pull between the two main characters! Cameos from Lex and Jax pulled this great story together!!

I enjoyed this book a great deal, the ending was a little rushed but a good read nonetheless. it's a nice pace change that the heroine is the billionaire and not the hero.
