When you’re up against the cage, love is the only thing worth fighting for.
Jules Darcy doesn’t do love. After an unstable childhood and a front row seat to the damage it does, she’d have to be crazy to sign up for inevitable heartbreak. But a year ago, her fling with MMA fighter Nick Giannakis quickly escalated into something more, scaring her and sending her running. She’d never planned to see the sexy middleweight again. And she’d definitely never planned to work with him. Seeing him again has her reminding herself that she doesn’t do love, even if she wants to do Nick.
Nick Giannakis is a lot of things. Champion. Fighter. Devoted son and brother. And apparently he’s also a sucker for Jules Darcy, the only woman who ever broke his heart, because one look at her and he wants her again, and he’s willing to play dirty to get what he wants. Because this time he’s playing for keeps.
This is a standalone second chance workplace romance with lots of steam and a guaranteed HEA. Sexy times and no cliffhanger—we promise!
Harper St. George was raised in rural Alabama and along the tranquil coast of northwest Florida. It was a setting filled with stories of the old days that instilled in her a love of history, romance, and adventure. By high school, she had discovered the historical romance novel which combined all of those elements into one perfect package. She has been hooked ever since.
She lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and two children. When not writing, she can be found devouring her husband's amazing cooking and reading. She would love to hear from you. Please visit her website at harperstgeorge.com
Well guys, this was fun and wildly unexpected! It’s been a minute since I’ve dived into a new series with new-to-me authors. I’ve spent so much time reading my favorite and trusted authors this year that I’ve put new reading opportunities on the back burner. So, imagine my surprise at not only discovering that I really liked this book, but that I read it in just hours!
I don’t know much about these two authors, Harper St. George and Tara Wyatt, but I think that’s gonna change real quick.
Firstly, the two main characters are extremely likable. Our hero is exactly the kind of guy I like to read about. Smart, funny, sexy and best of all— a caring and solid guy. Also, surprisingly enough, it’s the female lead, Jules, that has the emotional issues, not the brooding fighter. A bit of a fresh twist on a well-used troupe in romance.
Jules Darcy has started working for her father. A father who she has a turbulent relationship with; daddy issues at their finest. I think that’s what made me like this so much. Their road to healing is rocky and real. The journey to rectifying those issues are paralleled with her inability to trust herself in her relationship with Nick. The twist, turns, and new emotions of this second chance romance makes for a beautiful read. I found it to be thought provoking and endearing at times. Ultimately, we all want to be heard, loved and valued, proving once again that childhood can and does have a big impact on how we see ourselves and what we deserve.
Who knew a book called Dirty Boxing could pack such an emotional punch?
"You might've forgiven her, but I doubt you've forgotten the hell she put you through."
'Not even love could save her from drowning if she didn't figure out how to swim.'
"But when you love someone, you have to try, Nico. Every day, you try."
Jules Darcy took a sharp tool to rising MMA star Nick Giannikis' heart when she took a one way leave on their short-lived but wholehearted love affair. All the raw feeling are brought back to life for Nick when he understands who Jules Darcy is - the one that got away and the daughter of the WFC's (World Fighting Championship) president. Now also working as the WFC's director of marketing to promote their presence and credibility, Jules is shocked to find out that Nick - new addition to the WFC's fighting league and her ex - is soon to be the face of her dad's business.
A sweet and heated second chance romance that builds bridges from a spurned heart to a real, heartfelt romance with a baggage-laden heroine who resolutely shies away from commitment and a sweet, lighthearted fighter who now let's a frisson of feelings hold him by the throat. Covered in the marks of her parents failed marriage, Jules can't gaze past the looking glass, her fear much larger than any belief. As with the best of us, living in the past is too tempting and hard to take leave from, and Jules is no different.
This story is a bit drawn out and repetitive at times. For whatever reason I couldn't fully invest in it but it does have a lot of love to give. A bit lacklustre for me, though; the book/reader chemistry just wasn't at its peak with this one.
Nick is the one person who outweighs the heavy weight of her fear - a frightful risk, but that opens up the best that life and love can offer. History might only repeat itself and sometimes love isn't enough to change a misplaced narrative that festers with the doubts of rejection. Writing a new narrative isn't as easy as it looks, but the best love stories are hard-won, real and worth taking a leap into.
Drama, familial conflict, a big dose of fear and baggage, building bridges and fighting hard for a love nest of happiness that sits right on the other side of Jules' fear of commitment and Nick's fear of abandonment.
Plus, any leading hero who has a contagious sense of humour, free enough to dance to Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' has a slice of my heart *grins*
Trigger Warning: Some sex scenes and swearing ------------------------------------------------

Jules Darcy has taken a job with her father in his growing fight league and hopes to be able to reconnect her relationship with him now that they are both adults and working together. However, she quickly sees it’s going to be a long road when she can’t even get him to stop using her full name and just call her Jules. What Jules never expected though when taking the job was to walk in and find her former fling, MMA fighter Nick Giannakis now working for her father.
Nick and Jules had a brief relationship a year ago and neither have really forgotten how intense it had been between them. Jules though was not one that had a real relationship to model her own love life after since she grew up watching her parents fighting all the time and feared that any chance she took at love would turn out the same way so she ran. In the past year as much as Nick had tried to move on he just couldn’t and seeing Jules now just brings all those feelings rushing back.
Dirty Boxing by Harper St. George and Tara Wyatt is the first book of the new contemporary romance series Blood and Glory. Each book in the series will be featuring a new couple with ties to the sport of boxing and MMA. This first book is one that leans heavily towards the erotic side and is perfect for those that are fans of the steamier side of romance reads. If grading solely on the chemistry between these two it probably would have easily landed a perfect score from this reviewer.
On the romantic side of the story and the overall relationship however I felt the couple could have pumped the breaks on the sexy just a bit before going back full steam and perhaps tried to work out what broke them up a bit sooner. Jules was a bit of a flawed character with her relationship with her father which was holding her back in her love life too and I wouldn’t have minded her facing that a bit more. But both characters were likable and even though I’m not a fan of the sport it seemed to be done realistically so along with some nice writing this one rates in at 3.5 stars which is a nice start to the series.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
If there's one thing about a book that sucks me in, it is the authors ability to write with intense passion. These authors have the gift. It's almost like you are in the room watching the scene unfold in person.... The heat is palatable. The intense gazing is scorching. The steaming connection is tangible.
While the story wraps around the MMA ring, the plot is actually more about The failure of the first time they met along with their intense connection. He never knew why it was doomed from the beginning.
Now we are here a year later and the heat is just as blazing. With issues that are bound to keep them apart, the authors add in some angst and drama but I am always hopeful for the HEA.
Definitely a book that covers multiple layers of life and romance. Interesting, intriguing, and enjoyable to the end, Dirty Boxing has grit and plenty of raw emotion and passion to satisfy the romance lover in you.
One of my favorite types of romances is the second chance category. The idea of two people getting a second chance to make it right appeals to my romantic heart.
Jules Darcy accepts a job with her father's organization the World Fighting Championship. Jules has had a rocky relationship with her dad. She remembers the fights with her mother and his disappearing act later on. When he offers her a job, she sees it as a means to mend their broken relationship. She also knows she can help with his PR campaign and make it a successful one. What she was not expecting was to see Nick Giannakis again. She left him a year ago after breaking his heart and walking away from their strong connection just a few weeks after they meet. Jules doesn't think she can have a successful relationship after her upbringing but Nick is determined to show her.
Nick Giannakis joins the World Fighting Championship in search for the middleweight MMA championship belt. He knows he can work hard to succeed except his concentration keeps of being a problem when he can only think about Jules. At first, he is angry at her but once she explains her reasons for leaving him, he's determined to convince her they can make it work. But can he get the girl and the belt at the same time?
I love Nick. Gorgeous, sweet and sexy all in one package!. He fought for their second chance without playing any games. Even though I usually don't like a heroine who keeps on pushing the guy away, I completely understood where Jules was coming from. My heart was beating for these two! They had great chemistry and they deserved a happy ending.
Of course, after a finish Dirty Boxing, I couldn't keep myself from reading the beginning of book two and I'm already pumped for it.
Cliffhanger: No

I am usually more diplomatic in my reviews, but I can’t seem to muster the energy for this one. I stopped reading because I was bored, that’s it, I’m not going to pretty it up, or be constructive, I have written so many reviews for so many books of this genre now, I have run out of anything original to say, which pretty much sums up Dirty Boxing.
"There’s a small part of me that will always hate you for the way you left..."
The old 'my Mommy and Daddy got divorced, so I cannot possibly have a loving relationship with anyone myself because it' chestnut, grates on my nerves at the best of times, but it just rubbed me completely the wrong way this time, especially when both aforementioned parents are emotionally stunted tools themselves, why would any sane adult take that as an example of how they then go on to lead their own life?
I will leave it at that. I have read Tara’s work before and loved it, Harper is new to me. Nothing wrong with the writing style, just the story and me not making friends with it on this occasion, I’d happily read more from either of them again in the future.
ARC generously provided via Netgalley, I am sorry I cannot provide a more positive review on this occasion.
This was a great boxing romance! Jules watched her parents, two people who never should have married, get divorced and her father moved away. Still not believing in love, romance and relationships, Jules takes a job at her father's boxing gym to get to know him again. What she doesn't expect is to see Nick, a boxer and her former fling, walk in the door! Now she has to work with him and keep it professional. Nick wants Jules back but has to show her that they are nothing like her parents.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Sinfully hot MMA second chance novel by both Tara Wyatt and Harper St. George! Dirty Boxing, great beginning to the Blood & Glory series, was emotional, exciting and arousing! I couldn’t put this book down even if I wanted to. I am pretty sure my eyes are red-rimmed from staying up so late by being enamored by Nick & Jules’s story!
Overwhelming, dirty-talking, loveable story with 100% sexual tension that will fog your kindle! These authors know how to write a capturing MMA romance with just enough sweat, drama, and angst to get your heart pumping.
Jules Darcy has just agreed to work with her father at WFC as head of the marketing department in Vegas. Her father and her don’t have the best relationship but she hopes in changing that with her work ethics. By changing their marketing division, they have added a new weight class and by doing so, her father has managed endorsing new fighters from their rival competition. Just so happens, her ex of a 3 week fling is their new face of WFC and looks like they will be working closely together.
When Nick realizes that Jules is now working at WFC, all his past emotions come rising to the surface. Anger, hurt and betrayal are just a few. She fled from their bliss in Chicago before he could get answers, but she’s not fleeing again. He wants answers and answers, he will have.
Jules can’t go through the devastation of what her parents went through and the instability childhood she had to endure. She loved Nick back in Chicago through those 3 short weeks, but she saw he had a good life, but how can she open her heart to him with all her baggage?
“It’s not that easy for me. I can’t just make a wish and have everything work out. That fairy-tale stuff isn’t real. My parents taught me that.”
By working intimately with Jules, WFC and under Jules’s father; Nick is really getting to acknowledge the woes of Mr. Darcy and what Jules had to deal with as a child. Both are dealing with epic amounts of emotions running through their veins. Trying to overcome their feelings for one another. From past to present, sorting out feelings that are true and raw.
“She was the gasoline, and he was a match, setting her on fire with the tiniest spark.”
Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved everything that these authors provided in this romance! Both definitely had obstacles to overcome, but they both accomplished their fears and woes beautifully. The amount of excitement and arousal from these two characters is unbelievable! It’s tastefully constructed to get all your senses heightened! Especially the authority from Nick; “If you feel jealous later, remember whose come is soaking your panties.” My oh my! An exceeding job well done from Harper St. George & Tara Wyatt! So much intensity in this first book, I wonder what the rest of the series will bring?! 5 STARS
I loved this book. Dirty Boxing is a stand-alone in a new series by Harper St. George. This is a super sexy sports romance that is a great beginning to MMA series. I felt like the characters were well written. The chemistry between Jules and Nick was steamy hot from the very beginning until the end. The story was very engaging and keep me captive through the whole book. I can't wait until the next installment of this series. This is a must read for everyone that enjoys Sport Romances.
How can one little word be so hard to say? All Jules had to do was to say yes. Yes to a relationship with Nick. She is still haunted by the three weeks they spent together. Did she fall in love with him? Or did she simply have a fling? She kept trying to tell herself it was nothing more. How can you deny your heart? Jules feels utterly helpless when she sees Nick again. Will she continue to be haunted by her past or finally seek happiness for herself? Nick will fight for her until the bell rings. Defeat is unacceptable. Loved Jules and Nick.
I've been a long time follower of everything written by Tara Wyatt. She tagged up with an author that was before unknown to me. I'll have to keep an eye on THAT one as well. This was a contemporary, a second chance , and a sexy sports romance all rolled into one. Nice job ladies!

Jule's and Nick had a hot fling for a few weeks in Chicago, but just as Nick began wanting more, Jules left without explanation.
A year later, Nick, an MMA fighter, has joined a new club and has his eye on the championship belt that will make his career. He thought he'd moved on from the intense feelings he'd developed for Jules during their short time together. That is, until he realises Jules is the new marketing manager, assigned to work on promoting the club. And to make matters worse? She's the boss's daughter.
Straight off the bat, the chemistry between these two is HOT. Steaming HOT. Cut the tension with a knife sort of hot. It's not long before they're getting it on, with little regard to where they are, or who might bust them. Even if that someone is Jules's father who could ruin both their careers if he knew about their relationship.
But of course, there's lingering hurt and lost trust over the Chicago incident. Nick is a complete sweetheart and so patient with Jules. I loved how into her he was. Jules is strong, but had a shitty childhood she needs to come to terms with before she can even begin to work out the mess she created when she left Nick in Chicago. Following along their journey was a complete delight from page one to the very end.
I was already a Tara Wyatt fan but Dirty Boxing propels me to fangirl, automatic one-click levels. I've never read any of Harper St George's work prior to this but I certainly will be in future. Together, their writing was spot on, full of depth and emotion without any slow points. Dirty Boxing was incredibly hard to put down, and I'm excited that I have an ARC of book 2 that's due out in 2 weeks! Highly recommend this one.
Book 1 in the Blood and Glory series and can be read as a standalone. I have a soft spot for MMA romances and this was a really good story. Nick and Jules had a great chemistry between them. Well written and I can’t wait to read more in this series. If you are looking for a good MMA book to help pass the time, then this is the one that you need to pick up.

I loved this book. I am not sure why people gave it lower ratings. The story line was awesome, the characters were connected and the sex scenes were hot. Jules and Nico were meant to be despite a difficult beginning. Highly recommend!
Five amazing stars. Lots of drama and suspense. Great characters and chemistry. Enjoyed the back and forth banter between the characters. Read this cover to cover.

Julian (Jules) Darcy had a rough childhood. Her parents fought constantly and her dad was home less and less until he was gone. During her dad’s absences, she had to deal with her mom’s increase use/dependency on pills and alcohol. After dealing with all that, she decides relationships will never work for her nor does she want to try only to have her heart broken.
Nick Giannakis is an MMA fighter. He comes from a tight knit Greek family, with happily married parents. The MMA world is his life. He knows it’s very tough to have a family life with the lifestyle needed to get to championship levels.
Nick and Jules meet in Chicago, while she’s there on business, and have an intense 3 week fling. He wants to continue seeing her, even if it’s a long distance relationship. She freaks out because she knows love isn’t for her. Just look at her parents’ example. So, she leaves him behind to nurse his broken heart.
It’s a year later, Jules moves to Las Vegas to help her dad, a former champion MMA fighter, promote his fledgling MMA business. Imagine her shock when she discovers Nick is her dad’s newest fighter. And he wants to make him the face of the business. They’ll have to work closely together. Nick is not any happier because his feelings for her are still there.
Jules’ relationship with her dad is rocky at best. She came to Vegas to see if they could repair it and move forward. Her dad is very egocentric and they continue to clash.
I almost did a DNF on this book at about 25%. I rolled my eyes at the my parents had a lousy relationship so I know I can’t have a good one because it’s in my genes. I wanted to smack her upside the head, especially when she had examples of good relationships around her too. And Nick. He’s supposed to be this alpha, bad ass, champion MMA fighter, oldest son in a Greek family and he’s whining because she broke his heart. He tells her he hates her for what she did to him. He just felt immature. Communication was a huge issue for these two. I found myself skimming parts. The characters progress and the story improves, but parts of it continued to grate. Jules and Nick work it out to get their HEA. I wanted to see more talking things out between these two. Throughout the whole story my attention was drawn to Gabe, Nick’s best friend. We kept getting small pieces of information about him that made him intriguing as hell. I hope his story lives up to all the hype.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.
Nick and Jules have hisfory and now they will be working together Jules has a past filled.with hurt and pain. They have obstacles to overcome and new roadblocks thrown up along the way but they both grow and change as the story moves forward. Nicely done characters, unique work situations and good dialogue make this a favorite story. Passion and secondary characters enhance the overall enjoyment or the read.

A wonderful story, a bit slow at times but still an excellent read. Spoiler-I absolutely loved Nick, he loved Jules so much and he truly struggled for their happiness.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. Jules and nick met almost a year ago and had An amazing 3 weeks together but jules up and left with no answers. Broke Nicks heart now she’s working for her father in a new mma company and nick is his new recruit. Already a champion on his own the chemistry is there. I love reading these kinds of books I don’t know why but the guy always ends up being so sweet and romantic and the girl is usually the one running an he has to hold her back this was kinda like that he gets her back but they have to hide their relationship from her father and the company. The chemistry is amazing and loving someone this deep is beautiful to want someone that much! Amen read that damn book!
I liked this so, so much. Wanna know why? ... Because it's real. Not a real story but it easily could be. The MC's story is laden with real problems, real conversations, real sex, real insecurities, and best of all a real resolution to what was holding them back from each other. ...
I feel so spoiled. It's rare not to be inundated with ridiculous situations to cause friction between the MC, or crazy exes making trouble, or random stalkers, hitmen etc. I know suspense is a very well enjoyed genre of romance and it certainly has its appeal but more often than not, I'm looking for two people in love, or falling in love, just doing their best. Fighting off abandonment issues, familial issues, hurt feelings, actually talking to each other instead of drowning in miscommunication. Yes, this book starts with one of the MC running because they're scared of how much they feel. Yes, when they get back together they tell innocent lies to protect themselves from further hurt. And yes, I wanted to shake them because it could've all been so damn simple. But I loved watching them wade through the bullshit and finally find their happy ending. And what I loved more was that it wasn't hyperbolic nonsense with shallow characters and lacklustre chemistry. This was an actual love story and a beautiful one at that. ... I think I found a new series and author to give all my money to. ...
I enjoyed the story of Nick and Jules. They had a chemistry. She had more issues due to her parents. She used that to push away him. Give the book a read
Dirty Boxing by Tara Wyatt is an awesome read. captivating, intriguing, emotional, and steamy. a sport/second chance romance story of Nick and Jules that will tugged at your heartstring and melt your kindle .a page turner! well done! looking forward to the next one!

What’s it About? Jules Darcy’s fling with MMA fighter Nick Giannakis was only supposed to be that, a fling, but things got real serious real quick and she ran away, breaking Nick’s heart in the process. A year later, Darcy is working with her dad in his fight league as a marketing director and wouldn’t you know it, Nick is now one of her dad’s fighters. Neither one of them is prepared to face the past but the heat and the emotions between them won’t go away. After growing up witnessing her parents’ disaster of a marriage, Jules is determined not to fall for Nick again while Nick is equally determined to get Jules back and for good.
Overall reaction to the story? In a word? RAWR. Dirty Boxing packs an emotional punch! Nick and Jules’ second chance romance is filled with longing, unrequited love, and lots of passion! What I love most is that it was the hero who fell hard and fast first and is nursing a clear case of broken heart syndrome when the heroine walks back into his life. He’s so emotionally invested in their second chance and the heroine is the one holding back. That put things into a different perspective and made things more interesting. I did have one or two bones to pick with the heroine over her repetitive stubbornness but it didn’t deter my overall enjoyment of the story. Harper St. George and Tara Wyatt make a fantastic writing team.
Describe the hero in five words: Emotional. Stubborn. Kind. Goofy. Giving.
Did you like him? Yes.
Why? Nick is a darling, he’s a total sweetheart who just happens to be an amazing fighter. He wasn’t emotional closed off, he was the opposite, ready and willing to love Jules because he knows she’s special. He isn’t a commitmentphobe, he’s good to his friends and loves his family. I fell a bit in love with him myself and wasn’t entirely convinced that Jules deserved someone so devoted and fun. When you see the words “MMA Fighter” you expect a grunting, monosyllabic, closed off guy that fights for a living but Nick had more depth and a personality outside of the MMA circuit. It made him seem more human and likable.
Describe the heroine in five words: Stubborn. Intelligent. Vulnerable. Kind. Lonely.
Did you like her? About 90% of the time I did.
Why? Jules had a hard time growing up, she saw her parents’ marriage crumble and her dad choose fighting over her time and time again so she’s a bit gun shy about relationships and especially relationships with fighters. I get that and I felt bad for the woman she became. She was closed off emotionally and lonely. I wanted her to learn and grow and realize that she couldn’t keep letting her parents’ disaster of a marriage hold her back but dang Jules was so freaking stubborn! It was the same lame argument over and over with her even though Nick was the type of man to back up his words with actions. Jules knew Nick was a good man, she knew he had strong feelings for her, and she knew he desperately wanted to make it work between them because he showed her every single time that he was serious about her yet she kept pushing him away and using her parents as an excuse. I felt like shaking her and saying “What is wrong with you?? He’s SHOWING you how much he cares not making a bunch of empty promises, get with it girl!” She frustrated me towards the end with how little she had budged when it came to her relationship with Nick.
Let’s talk about the romance: Oh man, these two were hot and dirty for each other! That red hot passion that flared to life when they first met is just as strong and fierce in the present, but it was also the tender, loving way Nick treated and looked at Jules that had me envying this girl. These two were so good together, a great balance of love, respect, and friendship.
How about that supporting cast? In Dirty Boxing Jules’ father runs the fight league that Nick belongs too and now Jules is hoping to establish a relationship with her father while working for him. Honestly, Jules father isn’t worth the time. He’s so selfish and determined to remember an alternate life where he wasn’t a loser father. Ugh, he just ticked me off but in the end Jules’ way of dealing with him gave me a bit of satisfaction. The other fighters are mainly there to fill in scenes with the exception of Gabe who carries around some massive pain. He’s got my attention too. I want to know his story.
Click It or Skip It? Click It. Dirty Boxing’s hero is completely different than what you’d expect him to be and that’s a big part of what makes this book a total win.
