Finally, I read the story that I have been WAITING for-Jericho and Savannah! These two sizzles from book one and book three really threw hints at what was causing Savannah's coolness towards Jericho. But perhaps I anticipated this story way too much. There was plenty of angst for both members of this couple and I liked both their backstories. Especially how affected Jericho was by his time in YEMEN and that he was clearly showing some signs of PTSD.
But I was turned off by a lot of the conflict between Savannah and Jericho. Particularly their fight about their ambitions for the future. I had believed in this couple so much, just based on how Cora Seton had written them. I am convinced as of the end of this book, that they might not have the long-term longevity that I had hoped for. But we shall see!
My heart hurt for Riley and Boone in this story as they continue to work through fertility issues. But I did feel that there is a suspension of reality(well, it is a book) here because in Canada(and I know from the experiences of family and friends) that no doctor is going to take a look at a couple (who have been married for only 2 months) until they have been trying for a year.
Kai's story is next and it should be interesting as he seems to be the guy that could be voted as "Mr. Congeniality. " Book 6 is supposed to tell Curtis' story.
Interestingly enough, all covers for the book series are available to look at on the author's website and Jericho's book is the only one where the model is wearing a shirt. I am also wondering if we will ever have a resolution for Avery and Walker. CS describes Walker as Native American and none of the cover models for books 7-10 seem to fit the description.
This was a tough read for the first half of the book. Savannah was not a likable heroine and Jericho wasn't much better as the hero. Savannah's motivation for her decisions is buried deeply in her conflicts with her parents and her own perception of her self worth. Working out your issues is all well and good, and I'm so glad that she finally got her act together. Jericho had his own family issues to work out too. Doing this with a camera crew following you around and under a deadline to marry, well, let's just say that is a whole new level of stress.
Jericho Cook and Savannah Edwards ended up at Base Camp and the Westfield Manor with totally different goals. Jericho totally believes that the only way to end the world's conflicts is to learn to live a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle and Base Camp is going to show the world how to do it. Savannah is at the Westfield Manor to live a simpler lifestyle that allows her time to pursue her dream to become a concert pianist and isn't going to let anything get in her way, not even a oops pregnancy. Hello!?! A baby changes everything.
A SEAL's Consent is the forth book in the SEALs of Chance Creek, which means the forth SEAL, Jericho Cook has drawn the short straw and it is his turn to find a bride. He want a wife but not children because of guilt he has carried since he was a child and an incident in the Middle East where he couldn't get to a group of children before they were killed.
He knows he wants Savannah Edwards one of the original four women that came to Chance Creek looking to change their lives and follow their dreams. Savannah has come to practice to become an accomplished concert pianist. They both face family issues, changing dreams and find a true love that is sweet and a future full of promise.
Absolutely love this series. This is the 4th book of the series and while it can be read on its own, I think it is much better reading the whole series in order. In the reality competition, it is now Jericho's turn to marry in order for all of the men to succeed with their sustainable living project. Jericho knows he wants to marry Savannah but he has to overcome not just issues but whatever is holding Savannah back as well. And then Savannah has a few secrets, major ones, that she is keeping from everyone. If you've read other books in this series, you'll also get an update on the other couples and those that still need to find their significant others.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book from the author.
Fourth book in the series. We finally get a little understanding on why Jericho and Savannah are still not together, and see them face their issues and differences. The story between both of them is not bad, and we get to see how personal issues and unresolved problems can affect a relationship, even if not directly.
What bothered me about this book is that the whole, it's getting annoying how they keep lecturing about sustainability. I get it, but they act like if you are not all in, you are destroying the world, there is such thing as middle ground, and there are many ways of helping you don't have to live in a tiny house and live like you're from the past century to help the environment, and there's a point when it gets annoying. I get that it's about getting people talking and putting it out there, but it makes you feel like guilty for living your life, and that's not what I look forward to when reading a book.
Savannah plans to do whatever it takes to become a successful concert pianist and to prove to everyone that she can do it. Jericho just wants Savannah to become his wife, and he’s willing to support her in every way — isn’t he? This is a romantic story of two lovers and how their emotional baggage can ruin everything if they can’t face up to it. Wonderful characters and a twisty, heart touching plot.
‘Perfect wife material – now that he had to have one’
Canadian author Cora Seton, formerly from California, lives the life of a farmer and has created a series of books whose main characters are cowboys and military men – especially the Navy SEALs. She has created the imaginary Chance Creek, Montana for her locale, suggesting that she focuses on the pleasures of country life also. Cora is a USA Today and NYT Times bestselling author. She writes in series – The Heroes of Chance Creek, The Cowboys of Chance Creek and The SEALs of Chance Creek.
As her popular SEALs series continues, Cora offers Book 4 –A SEAL’S CONSENT – and for those who have been following the series, this book is one of the best! For those for whom this is the introduction, the Chance Creek of the title is a fictional location in Montana. As is Cora’s style, the opening this story is a well-paced curtain raiser - ‘Navy SEAL Jericho Cook smiled at the beautiful woman bracing her hands on the table across from him, waiting to see if he could sink his quarter into the empty glass set halfway between them. Given the circumstances, he could have been at one the dive bars he’d frequented throughout his military career, but he wasn’t. He’d left the Navy twenty-or hours earlier, and now he found himself back home in the town where he’d grown up – hiding in the kitchen at a formal dinner party given by an older couple who were by far the oddest people he’d ever met. ’ A fine overture to the tale that follows!
Cora distills her complex story well – ‘Navy SEAL Jericho Cook is living a lie. In order to save Base Camp, the sustainable community he’s building with his friends in Chance Creek, Montana, he must marry in the next forty days—and try for a family. But after the horrors he’s witnessed, Jericho's sworn to never put himself in charge of a child he can’t completely protect. At least he’s found the perfect wife. Savannah is sexy, smart, talented—and far too busy pursuing a career as a concert pianist to ever want kids. Savannah Edwards came to Chance Creek to chase an abandoned dream. She has one shot to prepare for the audition that could make or break her career—she’s determined nothing will distract her from her goal. But when a passionate encounter with Jericho leaves her pregnant, her future hopes are thrown into chaos. Is it possible to have it all? A career, a child and most of all, the powerful, attractive man who has stolen her heart? When Jericho announces he never intends to be a father, Savannah realizes he might risk shattering an entire community rather than back down. With the stakes so high, can she persuade the SEAL to give fatherhood a chance?’
With a keen penchant for well-paced tangled stories with added erotica to keep things steamy, Cora Seton shows why she is a best seller. Recommended
A Seal´s Consent by Cora Setonis the fourth installment in The Seals of Chance Creek series. I love everyone of Cora´s books and A Seals Consent is no exception.
Meet Jericho Cook, part of the original 4 men from Base Camp and a reality TV show. And there is Savannah Edwards, a woman living in a Manson and part of a Jane Austen Regency experiment.
Both had a rough and difficult past. Jericho has to fulfill his obligation to marry within 40 days. And he has his sights set on Savannah. She wants passion, lust, desire, love and a marriage someday. Both wants to make a career, but life throws them a curveball. Can they find a way through the obstacles that are put in their way?
I wanted to shake them sometimes. They were so strongheaded. But somehow they come to their senses.
Favorite Quote: "You have to risk pain to be there for the good stuff. "
I loved the characters, new and acquainted. I love how they interact. I love that there always is a HEA. And I love love love Cora Seton´s words. 5 Stars and I wish for more Seals of Chance Creek books. Thank you Cora Seton!!
ARC copy for honest review with no compensation, Cora Seton has done it again with book 4 in the Seals of Chance Creek series! ! !
Jericho Cook is the next seal to draw the short stick and must marry in 40 days and plan immediately for a family. The woman he wants is Savannah Edwards but he has promised himself that he will never have children because he could not protect the ones in Yeman from dying. Little does he know that his life will change in ways he never expects….
Savannah Edwards came to Chance Creek to leave a life that her family wanted for her but she didn’t. She came with her best friends from college, Nora (Seal’ Vow), Riley (Seal’s Oath) and Avery to see if she can continue her quest to be a concert pianist, which her parents say is a waste of time. She is determined to not let anything get in her way to make this happen.
Between the reality show and Jericho and Savannah wanting to be together but each having different goals in life and then a curve ball of all curve balls happening; now they need to decide if they are meant to be together or will Jericho have to find another bride to marry????
Savannah has a problem she didn't think she would have. She's got her audition scheduled to become the protégé of a renowned pianist, but she's also discovered she's pregnant.
Now although Jericho is good with getting married to keep Base Camp, he has kept the fact he doesn't want children a secret. Now he's got the short straw and Savannah is his perfect choice. She's focused on her career and he's pretty sure she doesn't want to have a child. At least not yet.
While setting up for Harris and Samantha's wedding Sam is asked to watch the Hall children while they collect the latest addition to the family from the hospital. Jericho also managed to be included in that babysitting adventure. What Jericho says once the Halls return has her reeling.
Samantha learns a couple of hard truths in this book, but Jericho being determined not to have children is a big problem.
Samantha's family once again tries to take over her life and fails spectacularly.
Jericho has some real soul searching to do as well.
Plenty of happenings had me turning the pages, with laughter, tears, heat, and so much more.
I loved this book. The hero and heroine we're both believable and likable. I've read the series from the start and it's only in the last few books i've been able to get into the series. This book was interesting because the hero and heroine were focusing more on problems than the damned TV show. True, I usually don't like books where they do the whole TV reality thing as its too much on TV anymore. However, as the series goes on you get more of story with little hints on the TV show aspect which makes it more believable and easier to read.
The hero has problems which are commonplace and you can relate to him. The heroine is the same with more than her share of grit and ambition. I loves how she starts to stand up for herself. I love how vunderable the hero gets in the story as well because of the issues he's dealing with. The main problem was these two should have been leaning on each other when dealing with these issues.
I enjoyed this book but I feel like I connected with it the least of the whole series. Savannah is taking the time to practice to become a concert pianist, she has an audition with a well known pianist and doesn't have time for distractions. However Jericho has drawn the short straw and needs to marry in 40 days.
Savannah can not deny the chemistry she has with Jericho but she isn't sure they want the same thing. Jericho is insisting he never wants kids, though he is great around them. Savannah knows that kids are going to happen and if they can't agree then she needs to move on.
Jericho has his reasons for not wanting kids, including his cousin who was injured while he was watching him, and just a kid himself. Also a child in Yemen while he was still a Navy SEAL. He feels kids are safe with him.
A lot of conversations left unsaid and a whole lot of miscommunication caused a lot of the drama in this story.
OK! I'm hooked! Can't wait to read the entire set ~ and find out exactly what's going to happen! I'm psyched that each book focuses on each MAN in the group, as well as each WOMAN who becomes his bride ~ what I mean is that each PERSON in this series is unique ~ the circumstances are individual ~ there's no carbon-copy-let's-just-reuse-bits-from-before. Nope! Jericho and Savannah have their OWN set of hardships ~ both personal/internal as well as external . . . .
Yet, at the same time, Ms. Seton hasn't forgotten about the previous couples and *their* struggles: who might be pregnant? How will Curtis deal with Harris and Samantha after Harris stole ~ and married!! ~ HIS 'bride'! Will he be able to just forgive and forget?! Can they all meet the terms and KEEP the ranch?
Ms Seton has so many wonderful 'story plates' spinning in the air at one time ~ this is just SO MUCH FUN to read!!!
Oh, i love all the previous books in this series & this one is no exception! Book 4 tells the story of Jericho, who must also get married in the next 40 days & try for a family. That's the rule to save Base Camp, a sustainable community him & his friends are building in Chance Creek, Montana. Savannah's come to Chance Creek with her friends after fleeing from home, she wants to become a pianist & she's only got one shot at it by means of an audition. Then she meets Jericho, they fall in love & get married. However seeing everything that's happened already, Jericho's not prepared to become a father, but Savannah finds out she's pregnant....what will Jericho's reaction be when he hears this news? Will this marriage survive this? You MUST read this book, all the books in the series are standalone's.

I enjoy this series and couldn't wait for Savannah and Jericho's story but sadly didn't love their story. It took me a while get into the book. After the sparks that these two created in the other books I was hoping for more out of this couple. I felt that their relationship didn't come together until the second half of the book. I had a hard time with Savannah. I wasn't sure of her character. She was so determined to be a great pianist that she lost sight of herself. It wasn't until she finally figured out what she is looking when playing, that I started liking her. It did come together for me in the end but these two took a while to get there.
I've been waiting for this story from the start Jericho and Savannah have been dodging one another long enough time for action or is it???
Jericho has his heart set on doing everything he can to make this sustainable community work and that means its time for him to man up and marry yep Jericho pulled the short straw this time....lol
Savannah would love nothing more than to wash that man right out of her head but she just can't and no amount of piano practise is going to help especially with the big secret she is keeping.
Jericho has things in his past he has not dealt with. Savannah has secrets herself can they both let go of everything that is holding them back from each other, from their future or will it all crumble around them.
Cora pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading it. What do you do when you think you want something so bad, but fate has different plans for you? Read A Seals Purpose, sometime you have to have faith and guts and trust. I LOVE this book! Jericho's past haunts him and Samantha dreams consume her. They both have secrets they believe will prevent them from enjoying a life together. Cora's books grab you in the beginning and they don't turn you lose! She makes you want to go to Chance Creek and enjoy life in a town that is simple, and regal at the same time.Between the sustainable living and the Regency era of they are building... I hope Cora never runs out of stories to write.
Navy SEAL Jericho Cook has agreed to help save the sustainable community he’s building with his friends in Chance Creek, Montana, by marrying in the next forty days and try for a family. But after the horrors he’s witnessed as a child and as a soldier he swore he would never put himself in charge of a child he can’t completely protect. He feels he’s found the perfect wife.
Savannah Edwards came to Chance Creek chasing an abandoned dream -- becoming a concert pianist. She has been preparing for her one shot for the audition that could make or break her career. She is determined that nothing will stand in her way. But a passionate night with Jericho will put all her plans in chaos.
When all is revealed will Jericho and Savannah find a happy medium?
It’s finally Jericho and Savannah’s turn. But, she’s pregnant, and worried he won’t want to stay with the baby while she pursues her piano career.
He thinks she wants him to support her career, and he’s adamant about not wanting kids due to an accident when he was young and looking after his sister and cousin.
Eventually, they each face their barriers to being together, and things are settled. Jericho’s story is a sad one, well written, and I like the tension due to Savannah’s pregnancy.
I loved this book but there was one part that made me laugh because it was so ridiculous. Seriously, Cora, you don't need EIGHT draft horses to pull an upright piano. I have 12 Belgian draft horses, we work the fields with them and feed 1600 lb round bales to our cattle with the horses during the winter. They are STRONG animals and you certainly don't need 8 of them for the task they were given in this book. (I googled upright piano before I left my review just to make sure I knew the size and weights of them.) Other than that one point, awesome book!
I enjoyed this book and loved the series. It's about ten Navy Seal's that have come together to build a sustainable community in Chance Creek. Montana. This book is about Jericho and Savannah.
Savannah wants to become a concert pianist to show to her parents that she could do it. She practice every day to improve her skills but she has fallen in love with Jericho and his life is in Montana at least for the next year. She has to decide if she is going to stay with him and her baby or if she's going to go across country playing for strangers.
audiobook (Audible) - this story is interesting and I love that these characters both have families that are not supportive of them. This is such a great story showing how one's past can influence one's future. I fully don't understand hiding pregnancies from the other party especially when you're considering a lifetime with that person. It makes sense if the baby daddy is not someone you'd even consider wanting to spend a lifetime with and could be harmful to the baby but not in this situation at all.

To me it seems as if Seatn's taken a bit of a dip. It's not that the story isn't interesting enough, after all, I did finish it quite quickly, it just seemd to miss the spark I've come to expect with her novels.
Savannah and Jericho have problems in their past stemming from their families, which they need to face. But, unlike with her other novels where the main characters face them together, in this novel they seem to spend more time apart than with each other. It's an unusual choice. One, that didn't completely work, in my opinion.
Hopefully the series will be back on track with the next novel, because I really do love it!
Definitely my favorite of the series so far. Jericho's story was really well written and his misgivings about being a father are completely understandable. And Savannah - I just really liked her. Her passions, dreams, and hopes for life are incredibly realistic. And her fears are just as real. The way they worked as a couple made sense and you could tell the feelings they felt for each other weren't forced. Hopefully the rest of the series continues on this high.
A Seal’s Consent is by Cora Seten. This is a very good pleasure read. Mr. Fulsome is unhappy and changes the rules. He extends their time to a year instead of six months. Can they so this? Jericho Cook is the next man to be married off. He had already met Savannah and decided she was his. At first she was interested; but then changed her mind. Now he has to change her mind again Can she do this?
Love her books. Wish my daughter would meet a Seal to love. She is like these women, has a great job, lots of friends, money, goes all over the world, but cannot find a guy that can see past her accomplishments. She is a Black Hawk helicopter pilot, flies for private outfit and is lots of fun, not bad looking either. These books are very readable and fun. Wonder what Walker can do to get past his grandma and his believes and his love for a women.
The setting of this is so very strange. Perhaps I struggled with that because I didn't read any of the prior books. Still, Navy Seals, Regency dresses, eco-focused community build, a reality tv show filming everything... Ha! Very odd. The basic story line of the main couple mostly makes sense and is sweet and almost relatable (if you take out the setting). All in all, I don't think I'll read another book in the series. I didn't connect with the characters and really dislike the setting.
Jericho was a Navy Seal. Him and his buddies got out of the seals and now we’re making green housing. Four of them knew Riley, who’s uncle owned the land they were building n. They made pacts to marry have kids and live in the tiny houses. Riley had three friends who came with her to the manor. Jericho fell for Savannah quickly but both had family issues that kept them from falling completely to say “I do”. Read about all the many chaotic happenings.
