This was a quick read with a major cliffhanger that truly made little sense in my honest opinion. The characters were interesting and it appears that this has some form of paranormal twist to it, but has yet to be to be revealed, but honestly just to confusing to keep my attention.

Don’t you just hate books that leave you hanging in mid air, this one does! It always assures the writer future purchase for the rest of the story which is being dribbled to the reader in many installments. Don’t

one does in spades! I really don’t like being fed the rest of the story in dribbles. A ploy for more sales!

Set up

Wow this was a good read. Ben looks like he is being set up. who is this other lady with him?. I feel like this other lady who calls herself Alexa knows exactly what is going on but she is scared for her life. I will have to read part 2 to find out!!.

This was a great short story with a cliffhanger. I look forward to reading another book in the series when it becomes available.

Maine Secrets

This is an intriguing story. The trip to Maine is so descriptive. I can feel the shaking from the thunder, the pounding rain. The struggle to see through the grayness, the tension, the exhaustion, the curving road. Then as Ben is helplessly tossed like a leaf in a stream, no control, just falling in one situation after another, and why? The title says it all, secrets. Who is Alexa? Why would an abused woman be not only captivated but completely trusting a total stranger, a newly divorced academic with no conversational skills? Who is listed on her cellphone as Satan? What really happened to her to bring her to the ER? Who is the other Alexa? How could she know his name? Why accuse him? Then we have Sergeant Meddon. Why could she never catch up to a naked woman, running barefoot through the storm? She saw Ben into the hospital, so who was the running man in the woods? Enough confusion, suspense and foreshadowing to imply these are more than questions, they are secrets, dark, dark secrets.

This is NOT a romance...it's pure unadulterated terror that stretches over a period of 24 hours in the little berg of Acadia, Maine. Very reminiscent of the old Twilight Zone series. Nothing is as it seems...

I wasn't expecting this to be part 1 of a serial novel--nor was I expecting it to be a cliffhanger. But this opening salvo is both. Be prepared to be shocked, surprised, and afraid...very afraid. I can't wait for "the rest of the story!!"
( i voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally taken aback by the twists and turns...)

How can things go so wrong in such a short time for Ben Friedrick? Ben is moving to Acadia. Maine to teach at a prep school. As he nears his destination, he travels through nasty weather, when he comes upon a stopped car. A woman runs out of the car into Ben's path and causes him to have an accident. This triggers a chain of events that signal trouble for Ben. A very well written story that grabbed my attention right from the start. I can't wait for the next part of the story to be released.

This made me feel like I was reading an old episode of the Twilight Zone. (I'm thinking radio series, not TV - it just feels more atmospheric.) It seems sweet and innocent on the surface, but there's a creep factor that just crawls up the back of your neck and makes you cringe. This first installment leaves you with more questions than the answers it provides. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Short story with a cliff hanger. Fast paced. A little too creepy for me. So I don't know if i'll be continuing with the next book. I did enjoy the story though. I may have to build up the courage because I am kind of curious what happens next. If you like twilight zone mystery books, then this is definitely for you.

Looking for a fresh start doesn't always come easy, nor without fear.

This is a short read with a cliffhanger. It's not a romance, it's scary! It's not what I expected at all. Even though I was afraid and shocked, I have to read what happens next. It'll give you goosebumps. If you like scary creepy books...get it.

Wow. Not sure how to explain how I feel after reading this book. This is a short, quick read that reminds me a lot of Twilght Zone. I have questions that need answers so I will wait for the next book to find out what happens. There is a cliff hanger that just lead me to more unanswered questions.

This was a quick and easy read. The ending was weird and a big cliffhanger so I'm hoping there is another book. The writing was pretty good but I'm just confused now because of the ending.
