With both her best friend and sister safe, Rosalind has nearly everything she wants. The three of them dream of a simple life together--a cozy little house in the woods. If nothing else, it would take Rosalind far away from the gorgeous incubus Caine and the conflicted feelings he inspires.

But when Rosalind’s psychopathic cousin Drew invades the vampire kingdom, the slaughter begins. He punishes Rosalind in the worst way possible.

Now under siege, Rosalind's old plans are in shambles. But she is out for vengeance with a new strategy, one she must keep a secret from Caine. Turns out, Rosalind has powerful magic of her own.

As Rosalind develops her terrifying powers, she must control her darkest impulses. If she can’t gain reign in the chaos in her mind, the world will fall under the nightmarish control of her cousin’s dark army.

This one was just really bad. It ended right where it started and in between was stupid people doing really stupid things. Seriously, there was no point to this book except to push another book from what should have been a trilogy. These authors are just dragging out every plotline. The characters keep repeating the same mistakes. When a person with God powers gets in danger, they resort to fighting without magic instead of teleporting their tushes to safety. I can't get into all the stupidity in this book without spoilers, but this book just wasted my entire Sunday! I'm going to finish it because at this point there is only one book left so they will have no choice but to wrap up what should have been done with two books ago. Oh and the start of this book just proved my point why only stupid characters don't take out their enemies when they have a chance. Of course, this pair of writers so failed at creating fleshed out or compelling characters, that I really don't care what happens to any side characters.

A bit sad

I really wish important characters didn't die. I don't want to mess this up for anyone so I won't say who. However it sucks. Perhaps if people actually tell her why the dead should stay that way, much of what happens wouldn't have. It was pretty cool how powerful she becomes but I am worried that she won't be able to handle it.

There were some good points too. Caine and Rosalind get closer but he continues to be a jerk most of the time unfortunately. Cleo is still a pain but finally she gets some truth and hopefully that will help her settle down.

All in all it was a great adventure.

Very enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book and Loved The Characters. I can't wait to see what will happen next for them and I hope Rosalind will get her revenge on Drew for what he did to her sister.

Two weeks of hiding and voluntary sequestering was enough to solicit a pleasant thrill in her present rebellion against the rule that travel away from the keep is not permitted for reasons of safety and caution. With her supplies tucked under her arm, a picnic of food, drinks, and gossiping among friends and family gave some rare semblance of normalcy, sadly missed in what is shaping up to be her new life. To say that her life in the recent past had taken a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn would be a major understatement breezing over the enormity of her position within the worlds of influence in her life. Describing the changes and critical junctures that saw her arrival at this metaphorical place are supremely insufficient at soliciting the substantive meaning. Semantics aside, Rosalind has not the necessary words to do it justice. Two weeks of wallowing and soul searching was enough to drive her crazy. Well, crazier. Cleo's much louder influence within Rosalind's mind is a considerable factor in that analysis.

Casting so much magic and exerting her body physically, both behaviours extending well past the point of cautionary restraint by Caine. Like both of her peers, in regards to the people she knew to also contain two competing souls within their body, she'd worked her body so far beyond fatigue that not only did she arrive with Tammi in company in Ambrose's White Tower in a half-dead state, she'd also dowsed her own psyche and soul to the point where Cleo could gain a foothold strong enough to not be undone. It didn't mean Rosalind was any less present, but it did mean Cleo couldn't be silenced anymore through the application of iron to her body. With Cleo overshadowing her mind it is rare when her voice isn't screaming either or both of the two things she desired in ways that consume any other thoughts; that she wanted to touch Ambrose, or even Caine in ways that heat Rosalind's face, neck and nether regions; or she wanted the whole world to burn in a conflagration of vengeance driven flames. Ultimately they both related to Ambrose and the history he shared with Cleo.

With this new chapter comes a much improved relationship between the twins. Tammi, through her positively livened personality is now bonding in friendship with Miranda too. Though not yet as tightly as that shared between Rosalind and Tammi of course. And she couldn'ttell how long this would be for, as little nuances relating to Tammi's new demon self start to come out. Rosalind and Miranda both reveling in the thoughts and feelings of what the new situation does to kindle what its like to have a sister. Two decades of separation in their kinship, fashioned in the earliest stages of childhood, has much time to be made up. Miranda had lived a starved upbringing that needed significant exposure to a new and better life if she's to be able to say she's had a fair chance at life. They couldn't now achieve what'd been the case had the separation not occurred. But this didn't dampen the gusto fired in order to make up for at least some portion of that missed time.

Having a go between in the form of the ever jovial and half-glass-full Tammi, and Aurora when it could be managed, to fill the spaces when silence wasn't yet comfortable, facilitated further the atmosphere capable of promoting ties between people. The three women's physiological makeup, of which Tammi and Miranda both highlight as unique, is an avenue of bonding in the differences that set them apart from other beings; such as the vampires that seemingly resent their presence in their king's life. The sisters of course share a bond with the incubi brothers but that seemed restless and reluctant to move forward in positive ways. For Rosalind at least, being anywhere the immensely important people in her life are, is enough to give her the feeling of being at home.

It was only ever going to be so long before the insane Drew brought his own brand of retribution to Rosalind and co. At the core of the betrayals, as interpreted by the mage drenched in the lunacy of god-powers never meant to be contained in a human body, Drew sees the traitorous actions of the twins as the worst among them all. Baring that in mind, and given they already knew of his link to the seven gods, it should've been conceivable that he'd potentially have access to the means of using the portal that connected to Lilinor. In their relaxed state, brought about by the need to recover from the toll of the overexertion during the rescues in Maremount, their nemesis finds the way to transport to the White Tower. During the darkness of slumber, Drew and the demons he conjured with very specific attributes that permitted them to carry out his nefarious tasks, their cousin manages to infiltrate the keep.

With his god-power he arranges the fitting of similar iron necklaces to those used by Erish, to now control the minds of the vampire population. With the sigil he'd carved into Rosalind's flesh this now gives similar access to her mind and body. With this he controls the population long enough to cause the greatest losses as yet inflicted upon the mage and vampire alliance. Once the dust settles the progress Rosalind has made in bringing herself back from the insanity caused by Cleo's greater presence, is undone and further added to by the consequences of his devastating attack. Rosalind's all-encompassing need for revenge begins to take her onto the path of further personal cost. Some would have her risk anything to further their lot, and some are resistant, those who're left that care what happens to her. But what assails her leaves her ill-equipped to recognise the difference between the two, or where she goes wrong all of her own accord.

With great loss can come great stupidity. In the heat of tortured moments when disjointed thoughts seek to console frazzled, out-of-control emotions which burn with such great heat that they scorch scars into people's souls, some turn to behaviours that are incapable of assuaging emotion. These alternatives aren't equipped with the correct attributes, such as cognitions or situations that create heightened contrasting emotions to sooth the soul. From this an endless torrent of bad choices and further detrimental action can take place. The only truly effective choices to emotions that sizzle out of control is to ride out the wave as best as can be achieved, to experience these things in order to begin the true process of moving on. Whether through conversion to alternative emotions, through projection or denial, or through sublimation of indulgence powerful enough to provide the sought after reprieve, our coping mechanisms often tend to lead us into greater problems than that which might've been, had we actually allowed ourselves to express the original emotion. Save perhaps only those emotions that coincide with anger it's various forms. Expressing anger inappropriately is one surefire way to create more problems, the worst case scenario being when others suffer too, or in our stead.

One of the other defining principles The Vampire's Mage series has shown is that through zealotry, unquestioned adherence, and any number of other ways, we are as accomplished at doing the many evils projected onto those defined as evil because of what they are, instead of who they are. Because of who many people and groups throughout history were, they've done the same or worse, and on some very grand scales, the things demons are said to be. In just the present time, regardless of the lessons history should have taught us better of, mass levels of genecide, famine, murder, war, or the plethora of other crimes against the person, is causing immeasurable death and suffering over things which are external to a person's behaviour. That is, based on what the victims are. Religion in particular, but at its core the more simply defined alternating belief systems, has brought about, and continues to cause, the greatest number of deaths than almost all other causes combined. Our demons aren't the created species of fantasy characters, irrespective of whether they are fictitious only or do exist in the aspects of our world we're still yet unable to discover, they're the pieces of human natures we'd prefer to deny or sweep under the rug.

Apart from obviously making you think, the content of the series continues to keep you reading in captivating ways. I'd expected that although the series hasn't been named as a trilogy, that this third book would've capped off the current course of events. The imagined saga has surprised in showing that we've not yet completed the events necessary to move on from the critical juncture of the overall plot. As such you'd be inclined to think that Blood Hunter creates the critical juncture, making it an imperative for traversing the storyline further. There is the two main observations above and the reality of how events can turn out if people live in avoidance of their insecurities, instead of living life to the fullest. Thus far there's also been examples of how things don't always turn out for the best; a bold move in the world of sagas, because let's face it, most readers want their heroes and heroine's lives to work out well. Like in any industry, often the materials are designed in order to achieve what the polls say they want. However frustrating it can become, its not normal that people always end up being able to succeed. I would predict that if our favourite characters herein do get to win, then its unlikely it'll be in exactly the way they want.

Well, I can't believe I read book 2 and 3 in just a few hours today.

Book three was a little more on the wild side when it comes to the relationships and total craziness that seems to overtake book three at times but it was all pretty exciting and while sometimes a little over the top I still really liked the book. I felt like each book upped the ante for the last book one eased readers in book 2 opened you to more of the world and the character and book 3 lead you into crazy town. While sometimes it was a little much most of the time I thought it was brilliant lots going on never a chance to get bored it felt like I was flipping through the book but never wanting to reach the end.

While each of the characters are different and fun in their own right I think some of the things that make a character said out is their flaws and whole they overcome it and make themselves better so I'm excited to see what happened by the end of the series. I have to say so far I'm really pleased with the series and glad I stumbled onto them and gave them a read.

I feel like too much of this book was Rosalind thinking “I want to jump Caine’s bones” and Cleo going “Let’s have sex with Ambrose.” Practicing magic, talking to her sister on her bed, plotting revenge, walking down a hallway, hell literally eating bread… she’s thinking about sex. Literally every interaction has an underlying thread of Rosalind wanting to jump someone. I’m all for sex positivity, but this isn’t that. Because Rosalind ‘hates’ where her thoughts keep straying. And the weirdness was compounded by the fact they spent very little time together in the book. It’s a very hot and cold romance, which is fine, but they just really needed some joint page time. And her thoughts don’t need to be there all the time. Her cousin is trying to kidnap her and force her to have his incestuous super charged magic babies, but no, let’s think about sex.
It’s gearing up for a final showdown, but at this stage I don’t know if I even care enough to bother. Rosalind is still making stupid decisions, but at least before she was making them for the right reasons. I’m not so sure she is anymore.

Brilliant

This is the third book in the vampires mage series and can honestly say the storyline is well written and is hard to put down. The female lead is no damsel but a tough cookie who likes some action. Rosalind gets to know her sister more in this book but it really is an unhappy ending for them. All the characters are likeable and you can feel their emotions. I'm not so keen on Caine the male lead. He loves himself so much it's unreal. He doesn't treat Rosalind very nice even though he protects her. When he finally gets his way with her he then goes on to dump her like trash. Rosalind should fall for his brother who is much more likeable. He too seems to have a thing for her, no matter how she treated him as a hunter. The vampire certainly didn't get what he bargained for, when he hadn't realised he had slept with her twin sister instead. The writer has done an amazing job, I just hope the last book lives up to these three books. Highly recommended.

darker than the previous 2

This was good. Sad, but good. Far darker than the previous two. There was another error I found where something was repeated twice, but it didn’t take away from the story. In some ways, I feel like the MFC is really stupid. Like she just really doesn’t get it. She takes risks that compromise everything and in a lot of ways, she is quite selfish. It’s almost fitting that she’s stuck with Cleo’s soul. Cleo seemed a bit selfish herself. The mmc in this one was a little annoying, though I suppose I understand his bitterness later on. In the end, secrets do no one any good. Period. His self-destructive behavior goes a bit far though. And he has a pension for cruelty, even toward the MFC when he is at his worst, which is hard to get through. But in this, I do feel like there’s some really good character development. It is a bit of a filler, as nothing really gets “done” but still a good read. And the story goes quick.

Finally getting answers

This third book is where things are starting to get good. Rosalind has a second soul that's really trying to get free for revenge most of the time while Rosalind herself is learning God magic w the help of Malphus, caines younger brother. Canoe is off doing his own thing but when he is there, the two of them have some romantic interludes. drew, the psycho cousin, has become much stronger in a very short amount of time and is constantly trying to attack. Miranda, the twin, is having a hell of a time. All the while Rosalind is trying to get stronger to attack back. We learn some answers to questions like why bone conjuring is bad, why Cleo wants to sex up and then kill ambrose, and more. There are a few errors in this book and still some things that don't quite add up/make sense yet but hopefully that'll get cleared up in the next book.

“There was no way around it. She was going to lose her mind. Might as well try to save the world while she was at it.”

Rosalind faces new horror. Someone close to her dies. And Rosalind chooses the unthinkable. Because let’s face it, we’d all do whatever we could for love. She faces off against her cousin Drew who believe he is to be the King of Maremount and Rosalind is to be his wife. He is imbued with powers which causes chaos. He breaks through the wards of the Vampire kingdom even. Leaving destruction and devastation behind. Rosalind sets off to become a heroine all of her own. God powers here she comes, the only risk is she could lose her mind but she’s already half there being possessed right?! Oh, and did I mention the slow burn becomes a 🌶️ and then jealousy overtakes? 🔥

Death ✔️ Necromancy ✔️ Jealousy ✔️ Sexy ✔️

Boring Third Book

You had a good story, but reduced your heroine and hero to morons. Young teens would have more common sense. No villain would kill his chance to have the choice of two women to rule with him. This book did nothing interesting, you could have used the hero's brother and the heroines sister for another set of books. Three books was enough for this story, was hoping you'd kill the hero and heroine by the end of this book. I hate stupid hero's, maybe you writers, should make less stupid ones. ' Oh should I trust him he has only saved me 25 times.' You should read a Linsey Hall book.

Not as good as the other series

In other series' by this author there have been minor plot holes, easily overlooked. However, the ones here just keep happening more and more consistently and it got annoying.

Also while Rosalind's voice has matured, her thought processes remain incredibly $tùpid. She ignores everything anyone tells her for her own good and just keeps making mistakes that could have been avoided if she listened to people centuries older than her.

It got frustrating and while I'm still annoyed by it I want to see Drew get his. So I'll be reading the next book.

I purchased Blood Hunter as part of the Vampire Mage box set. Book three was my favorite book of the series, so far. Roselind is finally starting to lose her irritating habit of charging forward without caution and is growing into her role as a mage. Caine was alternately strong and vulnerable, which added some needed conflict to the characters. The overall theme is starting to stretch to far without resolution, but I'm still invested in finding out what happens next. Off to book four...

need to know what happens next!!

This book broke my heart 💜 poor Rosalind she finally gets the man but he has his own issues and pushes her away, she gets close to her sister but loses her to. There is so much going on and so much action it’s the little things that stand out for me.
I hope she kills Drew it is nothing that he doesn’t deserve!! Love all the action and can’t wait for book 4!!!!

Y'all, I just can't with Rosalind and Caine anymore. I'm not going to finish this book or this series. I just can't. It annoys me too much. I've read other CN Crawford and have liked other series of hers but this is just not my favorite. The story is predictable and these characters are just so annoying. Rosalind has very little depth in my opinion and is too flat. I've given it 2.25 books of this series, and I'm calling it. Life's too short to read books you're not into.

Hereditary Disease? What Ails the Twins?

Christine and Nick Crawford have changed up the presentation in this volume of the epic fantasy "Vampire's Mage". Some of the problems and questions find SOME answers, but the resolutions don't seem to make anyone feel happy.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES!!

A thrilling series!

Rosalind is amazing. My heart broke for her and Cleo certainly didn't help matters. Caine just keeps getting better. I wish there was more of Aurora in this one but hopefully the next one will fare better. I would recommend this series to anyone and I look forward to the next one.

What else can I say?

As an author myself, all I can say is another great book from this writing duo. I love the story of Caine & Rosalind, the world they live in and the multiple uses of mythology. Of course, driving it all is another fantastic love story! Happily looking forward to the final book in Caine & Rosalind’s story.

I enjoyed this book more than the previous. I'm glad to see Rosalind finally stop blaming herself for everything...though she hasn't completely, but she's getting there. This book was refreshing and packed full of all kinds of crazy. We lose some people and there are a few revelations to be had. Overall, loved it. Can't wait for the next book!

I have been reading this series at an alarmingly fast rate. I was devastated when Miranda died both times. It was so sad that she finally had family and lost it. Drew and Randolph are the worst. I kind of want a back story on Ambrose, he too seems to have a lot of secrets. I love Tammi she makes me laugh.

I love this author and want to devour all their books but i’m just not feeling this series. It’s possibly because I have left big gaps between reading the books but i’m not connecting with the characters. I mean Caine is super hot and i’m planning on reading the last book just for him alone so that’s something.

Not the best in the series

I really lost interest in this book. This series is being dragged out! I stopped reading this book to read two other books. I had hoped this was a trilogy but there will be another book if it is last I MIGHT read.

The authors say these books are based on urban legend. We have reached a whole new realm. I cannot put them down and they linger in my mind, which is what makes them so good. I am so sad that Rosalinds' sister had to die again. And I just really want that asshole Drew ended.
