Surrounded by Flames

Rate this book
The gates of hell have opened, demons are ravaging the Earth, and no one is safe…
Only Angel Blessed like Jasmine Reynolds can keep demons from burning the corpses of the damned in the streets, and turning Earth into Hell. But are the angels powerful enough to defeat the evil horde?
The demon Bael hasn’t given up his quest to use Jasmine’s powers for evil…
Bael kills her estranged mother before she can make peace with her, then takes her friends hostage. When Jasmine tries to save them, Bael assaults her mind and brings out a dark side she never knew existed. He corrupts her soul and turns her into a weapon against the ones she loves.
Is their love strong enough to defy evil?
When Jasmine attacks her boyfriend Amon, not even a soul-healing can banish her guilt. She wonders how she can go on living with this evil inside her. But she has to find a way to reconcile herself with the evil within, and with the truth of her parentage, or all is lost.
The souls of Earth are surrounded by flames, and Jasmine must find the strength to quench the fire before they all burn.

Cassandra Fear

Cassandra Fear is a small-town girl with big town dreams. Growing up in Ohio, she passed her days lost in worlds full of Fae, vampires, shifters, love, action, and adventure. Sticking to her roots, she still lives in Ohio with an elf—her son—a fairy—her daughter—and a bunch of shifters in the forms of cats and dogs. Everyone pretends they are human or simply animals, but she knows better. Today, when she is not painting amazing designs on Photoshop, she creates the worlds she’s loved all her life. Values, love, friendships, and adventures pour from her fingers for you to immerse yourself in. Cassandra loves chocolate, hates driving in the snow, thinks her best friend is a little too snarky because she is a hybrid shifter/vamp, and that her kids are undercover beings from Faerie; She just plays along with the whole human thing for the sake of keeping the peace. She is nice like that.

I want to first mention that Surrounded by Flames is the second book of the Flame Trilogy and the sequel to Above the Flames, which I read and reviewed earlier this year. I also want to note that I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts on her novel. Above the Flames was an incredible novel that hooks you into the world Cassandra created, this part of the trilogy brings her world to life which makes it impossible to put the book down.

This review is probably the hardest I have written to date, not because I didn't like the book but because I loved it so much and I can't explain properly just how amazing this book is. Surrounded by Flames raises to a whole other level of intense fantasy novels, the imagery that is laced throughout the novel really makes this book even that much better than the first.

If your into high fantasy novels, and the battle between good and evil then this book definitely is for you.

I’m normally not a fan of the paranormal, but this book and its predecessor “Above the Flames” have both captured my interest. I found this book a real page turner as Ms Fear masterfully spins a fascinating plot about a handful of young adults, with superhuman powers, try to save the world from demons are trying to destroy all humanity. It’s well done with some great twists in the plot that will make the reader need to read on. Ordinarily, however, sequels should be able to work as a stand alone novel. This one, however, requires a reading of the first novel to know what is happening. There are also a lot of clichés that tend t take the reader out of the story. Overall, I would recommend this book 4-stars.

Jasmine and Amon are back along with the rest of the crew to battle Bael! Lucifer is now above ground and killing people. He has huge plans for Jasmine and so does Bael. Beau is back as an angle as well and one of his comrades also comes to help the Angel Blessed against the demons! Bael cannot seem to hold onto Jasmine! New secrets are revealed about Jasmine’s birth parents and sacrifices will be made! New powers and abilities will also be revealed! The war is coming to them…who can they save? Jasmine has lost her entire family! Now, she has to save the world and the people left in it! The army that is amassing is huge and will fight to defend what is theirs! I am looking forward to the third book in the series! I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review.

**Copy provided by Author, in exchange for an honest review**

Surrounded by Flames is a continuation of Jasmine’s story. This second book is about Jasmine journeys with her friends and finding herself. Amon was a sweet as ever, but this book couldn’t pull me in like the 1st one did. Sure I loved the first one, but I couldn’t love this one. I guess I felt like a grown woman reading a children’s book. I love YA don’t get me wrong, but this one just felt way too young for me. I’m not saying the story isn’t engaging, because it is. But it just wasn’t for me. I felt like reading book 2 from book 1 was a step back. Jasmine most of all felt very childish to me. I am hoping for a little bit more matured characters on the next book.

Loved this book. Devoured this book.

I cannot express my love for this series enough, with coherent words, that is. This book blew my mind. It delivered just like the first book! Jasmine is so kick ass! Why can't I be best friends with her? I admire her and I root for her wholeheartedly. The action, the danger, the demons (ew) and the characters (AMOS!!) were portrayed fantastically!! I lOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH OKAY I JUST FEEL THE NEED TO WRITE IT IN CAPS. GIVE ME THE THIRD BOOK NOW.

I love this series! I have now read both books by Cassandra and they are both fantastic! Surrounded by flames kept my interest throughout just as Above the flames did. I can't wait for the third in this trilogy. I recommend this to everyone! Great job!
