English title: The scholar who walks the night Art: 5/5 More than beautiful. Story: 3.5/5 Characters: 3/5 Narrative: ->Writing: 3/5 ->Visual: 5/5 Those doble pages!! YESSS!!
The scholar who walks the night is the second manhwa I read. My expectations were zero and thanks to that I enjoyed so much.
The story isn't the most complicated plot ever, it's predictable (and sometimes kind of forced) but at least the insta-love isn't that instant. The female and male character that are obviously going to wall in love have their own business and problems, they're not spending all day thinking in some random bookseller -girl- and a weird a scholar -guy- (they do but it happens in two or three pages, no more).
I liked that Yang-Sun is a book freak. She likes buying, selling and reading books and the most important thing, she earns her own money (YEEEEEES!!) and is a bold girl, she knows what she wants and she knows that life isn't a piece of cake.
One of the things I didn't like at all it was the design of the vampire with white-pink hair. Sorry but he doesn't look sexy, he looks like a woman.
I want to read this ages ago but last time, the only translation was in mandarin....and my mandarin suck ass.
So, after getting into it, I realize that this might be in the romance genre. Not really my thing, but.....don't fret dear readers, there's a plot. It is quite cliche but it is still a plot. Gender bending girl trying to live in this cruel world meet handsome guy who can't help but feel intrigued and wanting to help this damsel in distress. Not to mention the second hero who'd be fighting for her love. Not to be forgotten, the third hero who should be richer than the second but not better than the first would be there as comic relief.
But we have the pink hair vampire, I do hope he's actually the one who control the country... These vampires should really take a page out of the Cullens' book. Less suspicios that way.
However, I like the fact that the heroine loves her books. And I was hoping that they let the young master lives.
I wish I could read the full thing (read 83 episodes though, so I can at least include ONE to my Goodreads challenge), but alas, no translations T_T . Read about 30 episodes in Korean and I have lost track of the plot because idk any of the important words. I was enjoying the manhwa far more than the drama, so that's a pity. Maybe I'll come back someday with more vocab.
