A simple weekend job goes awry when Runner Sterling Booker Wells is placed in charge of a Princess. He is selected to act as her bodyguard during a political crisis in her land.
Which isn't part of our Earth.
Although tasked with keeping her out of trouble for forty-eight hours, Booker is finding Her Royal Princess Auralee to be a little more adventurous than he had expected.
Join Runner Sterling Booker Wells as he attempts to keep the Elven Princess out of harm's way.
I only gave four stars because I felt like there a few places that really need more development between scenes or between characters in a scene. In one instance, Booker puts his phone in a charger because the battery is almost dead, but only a few sentences later the Princess is playing games on it again. Still, he held my attention and displayed good, strong interaction between his characters. I will be reading any future books, whether short story length or novella length, that he publishes. Well done, Joey!
The characters will probably get more fleshed out as the series continues. To the author congratulations it's good not great but good better than some so called "professional authors" . Keep writing like you have been and growing as a writer and I think you can give your Dad a run for his money.
The characters are intriguing. The story is a little vague however given a first attempt at writing is better than I could do. The responses and dialogue work and I like alphonse liking forward to the next one.
I like the plot and the characters Booker and Princess Auralee. Booker is a good smartass and Auralee is an excellent counter. I feel that there needs to be more to the story, so I am looking forward to the next book.
To be honest, Mercedes lackey was the only elvish urban fantasy I really enjoyed, I never really got into others, so was not expecting much, but you definitely perked my interest, it's short but by the end I was involved and enjoying !!! Great first book!
This short story is filled with humor. You can't help falling for the cocky teenager Sterling Brooker Wells. As he tries to protect the youngest daughter of the elf king, Auralee. Teenagers will especially like this story.
I picked this one up as a recommended read because of my reading books by Michael Anderle (and also due to his blurb in the synopsis.) Sure it's a short book with some room for growth but that to be expected from a new young author's first book (I believe.) A fast paced storyline with relatable characters without requiring the reader to suspend their belief too much. A bit more backstory may have made for a longer book and fleshed out the characters a bit more instead of leaving the readers feeling like they had just began to get to know them before it ended. That said, the author has put out a highly enjoyable book for those who like the urban fantasy genre and set a pretty high bar for the next one in the series. I can hardly wait.
This story has a lot of potential. You are drawn into the story with the first chapter. It is well thought out and is a good opening for a interesting novel.
In Joey's first foray into the magic of painting a picture for the mind we have a definite winner. The characters were entertaining and developed. I was disappointed when the the words stopped, wanting to learn more of the world that was created.
Fast read, characters need more developing. Story is original and entertaining. Needs to be fleshed out a bit more with descriptive character study. World needs a bit more explaining, but the premise is excellent. Keep writing, want to know more about them.
Five stars this is a great start. I look forward to the next book because well, you left us wanting. Anyone who likes urban fantasy will love this book. This is a great start for a promising new author. Nice job!
Ok, I liked this story. It may have been somewhat short, but it was good, fun, light reading. I read for fun. I like authors who can take serious subjects and keep them light - just like the author's father does. I will read the next one.
Drew me right in and cleverly mixed reality and fantasy. A fun read that left me wanting more. Look forward to Joey Anderles next book. Definite talent!
Joey may indeed have a DNA connection to the family tree. That's indisputable. That said now they share the distinction of father & son. The flavor of Joeys apple has his own crisp flavor. Not bad mind you. The efforts of him & the staff has wrought his own shadow. This beginning stands tall enuff to begin its own unique path beholden to none. There may be older forest out there but Joey has planted his own grove. Lean back in its shade & relax & partake. Luck Joey
